I have started getting really low on some days during what would of been my cycle. Thinking I need to tweak my HRT. I currently have 2 pumps of gel and 2 tablets. Does anyone use more than 2 pumps?

My partners breathing is SO bloody triggering at the moment. I could off him. I won't - but I could.
Not to mention....
Noise in general
Annoying people
Itchy skin
tit sleep
Fatigued
Low energy/libido

Fun times! 🫠😩🤬😭

I had a telephone consultation with female GP yesterday regarding acid reflux but also to ask about HRT. In person appt next week. Any tips on what homework I need to do if anything? Does all HRT start the same and then gets tweaked according to how you respond?

I started it recently, they offered me the gel or patches. I went for the patch but might switch after my first lot (they prescribed me 3 months worth).

I was expecting a battle but it was fine. I explained my symptoms. All done by phone except for blood tests (useless in identifying perimenopause because your hormone levels fluctuate but sometimes thyroid problems can look like peri so I can see now why they check), and blood pressure check and that was it.

I got the impression (but maybe I'm wrong) that there isn't much tweaking. You get what you get and that's it, at least with the patches.

Are vivid nightmares a symptom or is this a side effect of the sleep patches I’m trying to combat the insomnia?

Are you taking magnesium, or do your sleep patches have that in? I have some weird vivid dreams and think it's down to magnesium

I had a check in appointment yesterday having started HRT 10 months ago and found it really helpful. I’m 41 so quick young and they’ve upped my patches to 75mg from 50. Hoping to notice and increased uplift in mood.

The good thing about the gel is that you can control the dose yourself. I’ve been on it for two years now (50😱) and felt my mood slipping noticeably recently so did an extra pump of gel daily, no doc appointment or prescription needed. Couple of weeks in and I’m firing on all cylinders again.

They don't work straight away, I'm on my 4th attempt, you don't get much support, depends on your GP, it's very much take these and in 3 months it might work. I found taking an antidepressant helped me more so before the HRT kicked in but it's not a replacement, your hormones role in your body is surprisingly important, goodness now's why they just stop at this age. Also I take lansaprozole for reflux. So much info and opinion out there. Record your own symptoms and learn from your own body. Sorry meant for @Missmopps

Hello,
I hope you don’t mind me joining the thread.
im almost 40 and since 2021 have been experiencing heart palpitations two weeks before my period, I’ve had ecgs, holter monitors, and echocardiograms done as well as blood tests and all come back normal.
Not only this, the last couple of cycles I’ve had palpitations during and after my period has finished. My periods have always been highly irregular. I can go for months without having one and when I was younger they would be very heavy. Now they are very light before hand and pinkish getting slightly heavier before trailing off again towards the end of the period.
im also not experiencing any clots which was always something that I would get.
further symptoms I am experiencing now are painful hip joints, Knees and elbow joints, finger joints and sciatica just before the period starts which is something I’ve never experienced before. as well as irrational anger and hot flushes and anxiety.
Im sorry for the TMI but could this be the start of peri menopause?
I’ve spoken to the GP about this numerous times and they keep dismissing me saying I’m too young to be going through it.
there is no family history of early menopause all my older sisters are mid to late 40s and early 50’s and are still getting regular periods and my mum didn’t go through menopause until her 50s aswell.
Has anyone else had the same experiences trying to get the GP to take you seriously and if so how did you do it.
I just want to be taken seriously as I feel the doctors are just putting it down to anxiety and stress.

I'm always always tired. Could happily sleep my life away. Cycle now either 18 days or 42 days. Heavy bleeding to the point of not wanting to leave the house. My immune system is slow, everything takes a long time to heal. I seem to get hot cheeks every evening and need a fan on me. Just feel a bit crap for a lot of the the time. I'm 51.5 so hopefully nearly there 😔

No one said about all the bloody itching - i know I’ve moaned about it before but jeez it’s so annoying and such a random symptom

I used to get horrendously itchy feet at night. Scratched them up reallt badly. Awful.
As an itchy person most of my life I get it. I’m really bad at remembering to spy creams and lotions. If you do get an itchy urge then buy some Eurax anti itch cream, it’s brilliant. Apply that for instant relief then something like barrier cream on top, I use Eucerin aquaphor as it’s thick and does relieve dryness and itchiness.vaseline would do although I don’t like that as I can’t abide the small or texture

I have to second the Eurax recommendation, it's a life saver..I sometimes itch so bad it turns me skin purple/red and stays for days, like a bruise 😭 Eurax is the only thing that stops the itch for me. I'm already so tired, I don't want to risk taking antihistamines as they make me drowsy.

The only thing that helps my itching is hydrocortisone cream which isn’t great as it’s a mild steroid.

Have you tried Allevia antihistamines? I find they are the only ones that don’t make me drowsy
