My periods have starting changing from a very regular 28 days to a 20 day and now a 14 day! Very heavy and long and it’s pissing me off!!

It’s starting to affect my sex life at this point.

The last 2 times I’ve started bleeding have been after sex and I’ve got some lower abdominal pain also. Could this just be down to peri or is a Drs call in order?

I would go to the GP because the bleeding is starting after sex. Are you up to date with your smear test?
It probably is nothing, my periods at the moment vary from every 17 days to 60 days so probably is menopausal but best to get checked ❤

Try not to worry. I get some pain after sex and spotting. I also find some positions painful now as well sometimes.

I’ve been thinking for a while that it may need some investigating but I keep putting it off.

I am up to date with my smear, the last one was about 3 months ago. I was half expecting something to show up to be honest. Recently had a routine colonoscopy and that was clear too 🤷‍♀️ It’s probably the pain that is making me think something maybe off.

Oh do you? Some positions are eye watering for me 😅 I’m laughing because it’s a fine line between pleasure and pain!

Late 40’s

I’ve been on hrt for about 3/4 years.
I wouldn’t rely on a thread to diagnose anything even though it’s so helpful knowing we’re all going through the same tit! Be reassured it’s probably nothing. Mad periods with peri totally normal. Abdominal pain sometimes during bleeding can be typical but best check with your GP who can do a pelvic exam. All very normal. If you’re on HRT as another person said, best get the GP to check dosage. 🩷🩷

Is it aging or perimenopause that your breasts would loose their fullness?
I did lose a bit of weight a couple of years ago but been in a steady enough maintenance the past year. I’ve always had a fairly neat small chest but there was still some boob there with the help of a bra. But now they just seem quite flat at the top. I’m 40.

Yes menopause affects breasts. Mine have changed a lot.

Really quite fed up of waking up feeling like my period is coming - bloated sensitive feeling - when I don’t have periods anymore due to the mini pill. And despite there being no chance I’m thinking of doing a pregnancy test cos it feels similar to that. I think I’m realising how much peri is effecting me and it’s blooming tit 😩

Recently I have headaches and migraines pretty much constantly - I’ve only had about 5 clear days in 3 weeks. It’s so debilitating.

When I used to read the menopause matters forum there was a lady on there who was having a late menopause and even when she thought she was nearing the end of peri her migraines still worsened. She wasn’t on HRT. I think the fluctuating oestrogen levels causes it.

I do think it’s hormonal, my migraines always have been. I’m not on HRT either.
Do you recall if they stopped once she’d reached menopause? 🤞🙏🏻

Unfortunately the forum had a lot of witching and so a few of them (including this lady) left in protest ☹ but she was very near the end of menopause when she left. She was very informative about migraines though.

Not sure if I’m allowed to link the thread but it’s this one about late menopause.

So sorry you are experiencing that. I was having monthly week long plus migraines linked to my cycle (usually before/during/tail end of period). I gave up caffeine and started Evorel 50 and progesterone in March. Have only had one mild one since then. I’m 41 and still having regularly regular periods. Rooibos tea has been my caffeine free lifesaver.

new to this thread! think i need to see my Gp! 44 this year! good health overall.

my mood is definitely lower than usual! i’m typically quite upbeat but feeling more pessimistic, unmotivated too! zero sex drive!! periods fine, do feel more discomfort pre period, very hot a night, restless legs and feet. itchy skin too. a little fluffier too.
i just don’t love my GP though, he’s a nice man but definitely a little awkward when discussing sex/vaginas etc which in turn makes me feel uncomfortable. i’m half thinking of avoiding him and doing my blood panel with a clinic instead!

Definitely go to a clinic if you can. HRT was a game changer for me, trying to get it right takes awhile

My perimenopause symptoms have gone. I have a period about 4 times a year. I used to be awake for about 2 hours each night and have severe aches and pains in my legs on standing, to the extent where I either had to hobble really badly or stand still for about a minute for the pains to cease. I've given up alcohol and take a million supplements so the problem I now have is that I don't know if the supplements helped (and which ones) or if it happened on it's own.

Here's what I take:

Vit D
Omega 3
Calcium
Magnesium
Collagen powder
Apple cider vinegar
Vit B3
Vit B12
NAD

Supplements only help if you're low in those things, did you get bloods done before taking and, if so, would be interesting to see where you are now with the same things. If you're not deficient then you're just wasting your money. You could try dropping one of them to see what happens. Also, was listening to a podcast a couple of weeks ago that was talking about things that were safe (and not to take) and they were VERY wary about taking calcium supplements as there were considerable dangers associated with them - see discussion at 29:10 mins, found it very interesting https://zoe.com/learn/episode-the-truth-about-vitamin-d
