Perimenopause #4 post your woes

I hate not knowing when my bleeping period is going to show up. My hormones are wild this week, i could cheerfully throttle my husband and i’ve spent all afternoon crying because my kids finished school today. (not because i don’t want them at home but they’ve had a really fun and happy year and i just feel so sad that it’s over!)

A few years ago i could have staked my life that my period will turn up tomorrow on day 28 but now i could be feeling like this for another week or even a fortnight and i hate it.
I was like clockwork too, I did vary by a couple of days occasionally. Then I went to every couple of months, then every couple of weeks. I've not had one since November 🤞 I'm not getting my hopes up to much, my friend went 360 days!

I was even planning a party for my periods ending
I was three weeks over and thought yes this is it!
Then I was spotting a tiny amount- yes can cope with that
Sunday there was just the tiniest spot
But I had a tampon and a pad on
Got on a flight to Greece
Changed pad and tampon mid flight- nothing there are at all
Landed
Stood up to get off the plane and literally the blood heavens open
I was so so lucky - no blood on my dress but tampon flooded- pad flooded- knockers flooded
I had to take off my knickers before passport control and go without
Changed tampon whilst all the time praying not to bleed out again on the journey to my hotel
Again- just made it
Then after that light bleeding to nothing and today Wednesday started heavy bleeding again

So frustrating! And making me paranoid!

So annoying 😑

I have been trying Bionsen for a few days now. The first few days I was getting damp sticky pits, and it didn't seem to be doing much.

After a few days I am getting better results, but weather has got cooler. I am going to keep trying it for now. It has made my skin lovely and soft.

I had this and felt like I was an extra in a horror film. If you’re ever caught out like that again taking two ibuprofen really stems the flow for a good few hours.

I didn't know that Ibuprofen would do that so great advice. I used to get Diclofenac for my periods which is good and think that might be available over the counter now too.

I'm currently on holiday and I packed a pair of trousers that I wore when I went away last year.

Came to put them on today and I can't even get them over my damn hips. How has my body shape changed THAT much 🙄😭

That will teach me for assuming and not trying them on before I packed them 🙈

I never used to get this in my twenties or early thirties but since my late 30s I've had the not medically recognised (of course ) "period flu" and the last few years it's become particularly aggressive. I lose a couple of days to just feeling really dizzy and sick, having stomach issues. I have prescribed medicine for the sickness but sometimes it doesn't do much.

It's frustrating that something like period flu is not recognised even though it effects enough of us to have a lot about it on the internet.

Either I am perimenopausal or I am going insane. I’m really struggling to pinpoint if it’s depression/anxiety or peri. Also went through a messy breakup last year and turned 40 this year, and some money/work and general health issues at the minute so I don’t know if it’s just life life-ing.

My anxiety is through the roof and I am crying randomly, and I’ve been having dark thoughts. Do I explain this to the GP and hope they give me HRT? I’ve not had hot sweats or anything else physically, it all seems to be mental.

Go and have a good chat with your doctor. Don’t hope for HRT. Hope for help in whatever form it’s offered x

These peri symptoms are driving me insane, I feel I’m on the brink of a nervous breakdown, full of anxiety and dread. But on a separate note, does anyone else find certain odours repelling? My sense of smell seems to have heightened recently and the smell of meat cooking turns my stomach and also the smell of people’s breath makes me gip! And I’m not just talking about really stinky breath, I’m talking about just maybe like an hour or so after they’ve brushed their teeth etc and we’re having a conversation I can suddenly smell someone’s breath and I want to gag. We came home from holiday yesterday and on the plane all I could smell was people’s breath in the air. I was almost in tears with it, does anyone else experience this? I always have mints on me and offer them around but I dont want to come across as rude as I know it’s a me issue with a heightened sensitivity to it since hitting perimenopause 😭 I have to turn away from my husband sometimes as I hate the smell of his breath, (he’s quite fussy and clean so I know it’s nothing to do with his oral hygiene 😅)

I get this and also hate anyone breathing too close to me as I can literally feel their breath which makes me want to hurt them

Pissed off with my husband for galavanting all weekend - nothing as productive as a hormonal rage clean of the house! 😂

Bloody hell the itching is driving me insane this evening and seems to be anywhere I can't reach to get it. I might have to buy one of those old people back scratchers with a little hand on the end, but I want to sharpen the fingers to be extra scratchy. Why does the itching get worse in the evening ?

Does anyone else get bloated in the heat? I’m away in Spain at the moment (although the temperature isn’t that different back home apparently) and just feel so…swollen- face, ankles and stomach (it feels painful to bend!) It always happens when it’s hot, despite me drinking water to flush things out!

Yeah I'm currently in Gibraltar and it was almost 40° today and I am SUPER swollen, currently lying in my hotel room with my legs propped up to try and get my puffy ankles and swollen legs to go down. 🥵😭

Yes, and worse if travelling is involved. I bought some water tablets that have made zero difference

Yes! I was in Spain the previous week and by the end of the holiday I could hardly close my shorts. Might have also had something to do with all the eating and drinking!! But since I’m back home in Ireland, it’s been fairly warm by Irish standards and I was so bloated yesterday.
How do people manage look glam on holidays? I was a sticky, sweaty, frizzy, puffy mess while away.

I’ve no idea. My hair was cut and coloured before we came out here and it looked great in the UK, now it’s just a frizzy mess!
I’ve also been googling “face deodorant” 😐
