Mine appear now to be either 3 week or 5 week cycles. So regularly irregular.

The are very different is "texture" (sorry for TMI)
Previously my normal was spotting, bright red blood, light. And end.

Now then up heavy fron the start (heavy for not HEAVY) , but only for a bit. Rather than build up they run down
Very dark brown, and really mucusy.
Still pretty short duration.

Much more painful tho

Does anyone else have moments where it just hits you that you’re not “young” anymore?

I caught a glimpse of myself in a window this evening and saw my mum when she was my age looking back at me - I saw a woman who is mumsy, frumpy. (I don’t mean that to sound offensive to my mam). I thought I was slim, petite, kinda well dressed. Where have I gone?

Thanks for this. I've tried all sorts of deodorants and night ones over the years, and at one point using Linden Voss got my sweaty pits under control, but then it got discontinued or taken over and the replacement didn't work for me, so now I'm peri I'm really struggling in the heat with my armpits.
I got the secret clinical on Amazon.com and my armpits were still dry in this heat after a day and the following day - I hadn’t had my morning shower - we had workmen early hours so I couldn’t , but I did smell later in the day, even though I was bone dry. But in this heat it’s expected I think. No itching or burning which I know has been a Mitchum issue.

Hi, joining this thread because I had a gp appointment 2 weeks ago and he suggested I'm in perimenopause. Just recently, I've been struggling at work with over-reacting to things and I'm now being pulled up for being unprofessional.

I had my bloods done yesterday, so hoping I get some help soon as my thoughts are getting darker. Aside from my extremely hormonal, angry mood- swings, my worst symptom is the brain fog, followed by night sweats. I'm 43 though so not sure if that's an average age for all of this.

Welcome, this is a great thread for us all to share our experiences. Im 44 and have been experiencing the same symptoms as you for the past 6 months or so, getting progressively worse. I started HRT a couple of weeks ago- cant see much of a difference yet but the doc said it wouldn't be instant. If your doc has already raised the possibility of peri, thats a good thing and they should be able to give you something to help with all your symptoms. Brain fog is the worst, the amount of mistakes I've made at work and then catastrophising is soul destroying 😔

I'm really struggling with my mood. It's like constant PMDD on steroids! Ive self certified off work for a couple of days to avoid getting the sack.

Can't get a gp appointment 😪

Any tips on dealing with pure rage?
I know there are a lot of instances of doctors prescribing anti depressants when they should be looking deeper into someone's peri symptoms BUT rage was one of my biggest symptoms and being on Sertraline for the last four months has definitely calmed it right down.

Thank you I was thinking of asking for something like that.

FWIW @Rodneytrotter I am in the trenches with rage right now. In my case it’s hard to know whether it’s peri or just my life right now (currently in the middle of moving house, plus the never ending trials of raising autistic kids). I am fatigued to my absolute bones, physically and mentally. Don’t know whether it’s depression or circumstantial, or both.

I often wonder about this. When raising an autistic child and perimenopause are side by side it's hard to know. You have a lot going on.

Does anyone taking HRT found a change in their menstrual cycle? Has it made them worse etc? Im really struggling with all the symptoms, rage, hormonal changes, bodily changes, weight gain and fatigue etc, but for the first time ever my periods have been better and regular as clock work. I get terrible period cramps in the week leading up to and during the first 2-3 days plus heavy flow (sorry for the tmi) but then it’s lighter and manageable. I used to be irregular, very painful and really really heavy for almost a week before this, but for the past year they’ve have been a lot better. I’m now worried if I try hrt it’ll duck them up.

I was talking to my dental nurse today, she hasn't had a period in years, she's late 50's and past peri but 3 days a month is just pure rage. She's already on an anti despressant due to a family bereavement.
There must be some sort of supplement or medication that can help.

I mentioned it before but the Ditto has improved so much for me. I wonder if it’s the chamomile oil in it.

I don’t think HRT made me worse, it didn’t make things better, but as above Ditto seems to have helped, which may just be the iron in it. I still bleed a lot compared to other people I see talking about periods but I think it has helped a lot. The bleeding is less and no pain now which was becoming a problem for me. It’s hard to know isn’t it, what might just be normal progression and what’s helped.
I’ve upped my oestrogen last month which I think is helping me feel more normal, but I’m still off adhd medication which is not helpful at all. I’ve been under so much stress for so long I am really struggling with my memory. I did have a good day today as it’s cooled a little, the heat has made me struggle so much.

Thank you for your response! I just want to give you and every other woman navigating this a great big hug! It’s awful!

I’m struggling with rage and memory loss most and so I think I need help, but my periods are finally in a manageable state and I’m terrified of making them worse! I don’t think I could cope with that on top of all the other tit menopause is bringing.

I’m currently in a manic state juggling about 50 things at once. I start one thing and immediately move on to something else whilst in the middle of a task. What is happening to me?! It’s driving me nuts! I used to be such an organised, conscientious person and could multitask efficiently. Now I’m all over the place and it’s exhausting. And to add to that a chronic self doubt has crept in 😩 fml

You’re very welcome!
ADHD is negatively impacted by menopause etc so if you’re not neurodivergent, then I guess it still could be affecting your concentration and dopamine. What I have to do is literally tell myself out loud “no, close the loop”, if I try and hop to something else and finish before the next thing.
The only time I hop from one to another is if I am doing sorting or decluttering in one place for a while, and can’t focus but I can go and focus in another room, so I procrastinate by doing the other job. This works okay because tasks like this aren’t done in ten minutes, so I close the loop with jobs that have an end and short time frame. It does help, but I wonder what it’s like to do things more effortlessly.
