Yes I didn’t read it as denying her privileges, but in spite of those, she still has the element of ‘asking permission’ as the default parent. Yes she has the privilege of the enhanced income to afford more ‘outside’ childcare but given the choice I’d still rather my husband/family look after my child. So she’s still in that same predicament most of us face of having to ask to go out like we’re 12 again whilst our husbands do what they like🤣 it’s ok to miss the days she could flit off on a girls weekend without having to ask anyone, our differences just lie in what we want that free time for I guess

If I was Lou I don’t think Id be that bothered about him going. For one thing it’s his passion, but secondly it’s not as if they only have one holiday a year. They are fortunate enough that they can afford to go away multiple times.

are the girls at independent school if they are away already?

Just bin the guests and have them occasionally if you are just going to have these no marks flogging shite podcasts, or even get their own parents on which would be more interesting.

That or if they have to have guests find people with unique circumstances maybe culturally or gay parents etc, stuff that’s not the “norm” per se.

I like her style - she dresses really well I think.

i once fell in love with a t-shirt she was wearing in some Orlando pictures she uploaded. Unfortunately we are in different tax brackets and I couldn’t justify the cost.

I don't have any kids, so can't really comment.

Just wondering about the thoughts on Tuesday's episode when Josh said he wouldn't be able to do the car journey alone.
It made me laugh as a single mum of 3, welcome to the real world. I felt so capable 🤣🤣

I also love the ‘unrelatable’ parts of the pod when they talk about the celebs they meet! I might be in the minority though.
See i typically enjoy the ‘unrelatable’ parts of the pod (Rob’s run in with Cara Delevingne in the vip area at the Shania Twain concert jumps straight to mind 🤭) but today’s episode full of comments like “staffing up” to avoid postnatal depression, having “more nannies than kids”, etc etc just beggared belief…

When Rob and Josh (and the majority of guests) discuss ‘unrelatable’ experiences they can still talk about it with a relatable/approachable attitude and a sense of perspective that was missing today

You could tell it was definitely just PR for her that she needed to fulfill. I actually prefer the Tuesday episodes now!

Totally agree with the majority of comments here. Too frequently he dismisses Josh, or says "we'll talk about your story on the next episode" which inevitably doesn't happen because Rob's back talking about himself or his week. I guess it's just two different personalities.

I think its pretty obvious Rob doesn't 'get' the dynamic of Josh & Rose's relationship either, and perhaps feels Josh is a bit henpecked ...which I agree with to a certain extent based on what's been previously said. (Like I feel it's bizarre to make interior or structural decisions on your shared home without having those conversations with your partner.)

I still enjoy the pod but thought this latest episode, and a lot of your comments, highlight how I feel when I listen too.
I haven't listened to the pod yet, and as an avid Rob Beckett apologist I'm a little wary of going in and knowing he's going to be annoying haha.

But just wanted to say I totally agree re each couples dynamic and it being different.

I think Rob and Lou have the stereotypical mum taking on more of the "home" mental load and he goes out and works and makes the "big" decisions, like he'll have watched his folks do.

Josh and Rose feel a bit more modern and partnershippy (not that the Becketts aren't), and a bit more they don't mind what the other does because it works for them. The house is her project and Josh is so casual about it (ironic given he stresses about a lot of other things) because he doesn't mind what happens.

It's funny because my parents have a bit of a traditional dynamic; my mum doesn't work and my dad goes away TO work. But he'll go away and she'll make decisions about the house and garden without him and his attitude is "as long as you're mother is happy I'm happy" kind of thing.

Every couple is so wonderfully different but I think sometimes we can see a couple so polar opposites to us we go "well that's not what we do so that's weird" kind of thing? I fear Rob may fall into that camp.

Or I could be all wrong and just don't get the humour he's trying to portray about them 😅

Really enjoyed the rose episode, she sounds loads of fun! Sweet dynamic between her and Josh, and Rob absolutely loved it you could tell!

I've not finished listening to this week's pod, but did anyone else have a random few seconds of nothing-ness before it jumped to the middle of a conversation about The Traitors?

I was so confused!

The way Josh is playing with his hair on his Instagram story is really hot 🫣

Might be because I’ve done Christmas at my in laws and then been sick so it’s been a while since I’ve got any 🤣

What did everyone think to the discussion about which age is the hardest on Fridays episode? I was totally team Josh and agreed with all his points. I think Rob has been out the trenches too long!

I can take or leave Romesh generally, but I really enjoyed the podcast today. The blink 182 bit was very good.

Izzy and Elis are 2 of my favourite guests, so I agree that some catch up episodes would be great, I’d love Daisy May Cooper on again too. Nick Mohamed, Noel Fielding, Claudia Winkleman and Dawn French would be great bookings if you see this Lou!

I bloody love Rob, but found yesterdays episode a struggle with him. Even at the start he was slagging off Josh for how his set up was & he was in a superior sound room - does it really bloody matter, Josh was like "i'm happy to do the introduction" but Rob just kept going on and on and on, found myself rolling my eyes. I'm an avid football fan too but found his whole Euro story a bit tedious too. He's starting to take over, let the lovely Josh get a word in man!

It IS different to non-famous kids. No-one is interested in talking to others about how they met me and my family on holiday. None of the parents in my kid's class ask their children about me or my kids. My kids’ teachers don’t make special mention to their friends and family about my kids. They’re not interested because I’m not famous. People are interested in famous people (didn’t you say you’d chatted to your friend about Rob’s kids’ names, or was that someone else?) so people will talk about it.
That wasn't me, and you misunderstand what I mean.

I was saying the kids names will be known by people they know in life same as any kids, but that hasn't and doesn't need to transfer over to the public arena. And it is unfair of people to share their names on here when Rob is very clear and very careful about protecting them.
