Because some mums may have to have extra care if something goes wrong with the birth so are away from their baby, so at least the baby can get some of the mums milk, or if they are a low birth weight then it’s good to top them up with it too. If mums can’t establish breastfeeding then at least they have had the option of giving their babies the colostrum which is full of antibodiesI totally get 'you do you' when it comes to feeding your baby however you choose, totally understand. My thoughts on the colostrum collecting is why actually do it in the first place though? I'm confused, like why not just get baby on the breast after birth (if possible of course) for their colostrum feeds until your milk comes in?
I'm not meaning to be disrespectful in any way, I'm probably just old fashioned ha ha, but sometimes I feel like pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting has become unnecessarily super complicated. Is it so the associated professionals and businesses can 'cash in' on new trends?
Please don't come at me, I'm just trying to understand why colostrum collection before birth is now a thing![]()

It can also be used as a credit card, has a cc number, expiry and security code so kids can buy online. It won’t go under 0 tho.Oh yea I realise that. Just for kids usually there are no fees for eftpos, including service fee. But then again i know our bank anyway won't give cards to under 13s but other banks might be different.
I.actually thought it was more though for some reason. $5 a month isn't so bad for up to 5 kids.
100% agree with all this comment, some people have it rought (myself included) so good on Edna for doing this. Im very gutted my colostrum didnt come out (only glistening). Although im lucky as I persevere and my now 4 month old is now fully breastfeed (mixture of direct and bottle fed with expressed milk) but the first 2 months was rough as. I was on the edge to just use formula because how hard it is, but dont want to regret it down the line. First 2 weeks i have to teach my baby to latch whilst shes screaming to my face, then bottle fed her, then pump to increase the supply - at that stage its not enough so we have to top up with formula. Took 2-3 weeks to teach her to latch and at 7-8 weeks later shes finally off breastshield. Although she didnt get my liquid gold colostrum at least i manage to breastfeed her in the end!You can express colostrum from 35w as long as everything is going well in pregnancy. You store it in the syringes in the freezer and then they are ready to go when baby arrives. Keeps around 6m from what my midwife told me

Oh man that sounds super rough! It’s def not an easy way to feed baby for some people!

“They” are midwives and obstetrics personnel who are experts in their field.
good for you that you had an easy time but some people don’t.
Again I’m all for bagging on influencers when they do stupid tit but actually good on Edna for doing this. Even if she’s not going to breastfeed or she’s going to exclusively pump. Good on her. Things change, new research is conducted and what people did “in there day” vs what some people do now are wildly different
Better not coz that's my birthday. Is she saying the baby is coming 10-4-24 or what?? And how does she know?? Booked a c-section?? Man she's such a try hard![]()
Her hair is too thick and “poofy” to be able to maintain/style this cut on her own!I still don't understand why she went this short lol
I’m pretty sure it’s when the bump balm she’s created launchesIs she saying the baby is coming 10-4-24 or what?? And how does she know?? Booked a c-section?? Man she's such a try hard![]()
The applesAre those some sort of protein chip? Jam sandwiches, so if not there is literally not one gram of protein in that lunch.
Annd while we’re on Mums.net why on earth cut apples to esophagus blocking size.
And why? She’s never mentioned anything going wrong with the pregnancy so this just seems very odd to me.Better not coz that's my birthday.
I think that's when she's releasing her new Bumb Balm, or bump balm as it should be without the spelling error. Who knows, Edna might time her child's arrival just to coincideIs she saying the baby is coming 10-4-24 or what?? And how does she know?? Booked a c-section?? Man she's such a try hard![]()
