Lol so the Smart Skin "team" is literally just her and her 2 Gleam managers (whose primary jobs are literally just to answer emails and negotiate adverts between brands and the Gleam 'talents'). One influencer and two PR/marketing people? How does this group have any legitimacy to start a skincare brand? Where's the skincare expert? The science-trained person? Even the business/entrepreneurial person? This honestly says everything you need to know.

I find strange that smart skin's and her account she is sharing stories of "people" check out purchases, just saw a story from Fleur de Force saying congrats to Nioms while she also shows her checkout entire range purchase print screen, I found it strange first she is not close with Nioms, second with all the free stuff she gets she certainly doesn't need to buy more and Fleur is very stingy when it comes to pull money out of her wallet for beauty products. Hmm reminds a bit of those brands who send the money PayPal to make the person buy the product and get more traffic and reviews..

She just sold her name and image to any lab, they do the same for books.

I have no idea about the manufacturing processes or regulation behind all this but - does this mean there’s no reassurances that this stuff is even safe to put on your face? Did she just ask a lab to put some smells she liked into an existing product and designed the packaging?

Does anyone have any good recommendations for natural vitamin c serums, and also eye creams to help with dark circles/anti-ageing? (I do see the irony of asking this on her launch day 😁)
I love Andalou Turmeric Plus C Enlighten Serum but it's quite hard to get hold of these days and it only seems to be available on Amazoni/iHerb and the likes...

She must have commissioned a cosmeceutical company to create the products or something. But it just shows that there isn't even anyone within her own company who actually has ANY kind of knowledge so as to make suggestions or decisions about which products she should be bringing out. I wouldn't trust anything that has her brand logo on it because there's no one within her company who would even be able to tell what the products are worth / what changes to make / things to fix, etc. They are just blindly trusting whichever company they've delegated to with everything. Proof that her products are nothing new.

I had a look at her ingredients and they don't seem bad (no petrolium/mineral oil like in the Boots-branded flop) but also lots of cheap-ish ingredients, such as glycerine and caprylic/capric triglyceride*. Glycerine can be comedogenic for some people, and also I personally have decent skin but any product with caprylic/capric triglyceride gives me this uneven skin surface, like there was lots of tiny imperfections on it. She has both in most products.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride is made from coconut oil which is one of the cheapest oils out there and it's the first ingredient in her serum, excuse me, her Multi V Elixir Facial Oil.
Also not everyone likes an oil serum.
Some of the oils and active ingredients are great though but I think the base ingredients in the products are a bit cheap so just not sure how well the product will actually work.
I love my skincare but wouldn't spend as much money as you have to on her products on a new brand with no review online.
Also they offer free shipping on orders over £60 - that's hardly any discount 🙄

Ok, i watched an entire 'presentation' (🤣🤣🤣) on insta. The first bizarre thing was her not doing any sport in this early 'not even seven' morning. Come on, girl be consistent! It wan't a vlog but i expected her to sprint..
As for products - i listened through entire thing, and had a feeling it's a bunch of farely nice ingredients all mixed together. The main and tragic reason i will not buy any of it is quite simple - i don't trust. Well, maybe a washcloth has some future, but the rest... Adios

Lol I just came across this blog post on the smart skin website about the 'muses' https://mysmartskin.co.uk/blogs/smart-edit/smart-skin-muses-who-we-are

Even after reading the article, I still don't understand what kind of role they play here other than just modeling -- this whole post is supposed to be introducing us to them but there's literally just one quote per person, nothing about who they are/what they do/what skincare means to them or anything of ACTUAL substance or value.

But the cherry on top is this girl whose quote literally says "I'm inspired by people like Patricia Bright and Grace Beverley." 🤣🤣 How about Niomi Smart the literal person you're supposed to be advertising right now?? 😂

As I said before, such a sorry attempt at being inspirational or pretending the brand has an "ethos".

I hope Niomi doesn't have any plans to go and see Hyacinth Bucket Grandmother Terrina any time soon. The amount of socialising Niomi is doing (seemingly without a mask), for all she knows she might be an asymptomatic carrier of the virus.

To be fair, nobody where I live (in the UK) is wearing masks outside. Maybe it's more normal in London though being a crowded city...

What struck me as a really odd is that there are sooo many recipes in her book, including for a lot of snacks, but she never makes them. She's always buying random/expensive vegan snacks at health stores or online (like for her birthday picnic), but never like makes her own granola bars to go or anything. If I had all that free time and was genuinely excited about food I'd make all my own stuff. She even buys homeade almond milk from shops that you can easily make at home. She's either being paid by all these other brands or Eat Smart was really a hoax in that she doesn't genuinely make those recipes
Both!

Niomi and Joe, no longer together as we move into porridge bowl weather

Wow! Great thread title ♥

I'm confused by the brand. I wont buy anything as I don't know who has formulated it and it seems kind if basic when you think of all the products on the market. I'm sorry but a skincare product is never going to be suitable for all skin types.

I think she has done the right thing in only releasing a limited range of products to start with but I would have probably gone with a different configuration. Personally I would have done a couple of cleansers (one to remove make up and a more nourishing one), maybe a nice face mist, an eye cream and moisturiser. Leave the serums and actielve ingredients once you've built up a base.

With the name Smart Skin I would actually have thought it was a very science based brand if I didn't know who was behind it. I get her apparent ethos is being environmentally conscious (in actuality it isn't) and so I had an inkling it was going to be began, cruelty free, 'green' brand. The brand can be this and science based as many others are.

I really like the print on the packaging but on feel it doesn't go well with the logo (which again i think feels sciency) and I don't think it will 'look' good on 'shelfies' with the millennial pink and black and white packaging which is popular now.

So ladies! What do we think? 🤗

Was the Smart Skin launch a success or a flop... 👀
Probably not a total flop, but having launched the products she’s only gained another 3.7k followers today and the majority of the orders she’s shown on her stories were for one product each, so not the best either

Why did she call the mask 'miracle meta'? It's a glycolic mask, it should surely have that in the name.

Looking at the ingredients and the jarring differences between name - Smart skin says science to me - and packaging - fun patterns - I am struggling to see anything smart about smart skin......
Smart Skin to me as a name gives me The Ordinary vibes.
The packaging gives me Cath Kidston vibes.

The two don't mesh well for me anyway.

No mask yet again, she’s really getting on my tits with this now 😒
She is outside though? And it clearly isn't crowded. Are masks required outside in the UK??

Not that it matters but strangely Joe has unfollowed smartskin and verity but still follows Niomi

No they’re not required, however our R rate is now 1 or above in most areas of the country, several areas are in proper lockdown again, more measures have just been introduced that we have been told will last for the next 6 months. Just my opinion but anyone who gives a damn about other people is wearing a mask as much as possible right now rather than doing the bare minimum mandated by our absolutely useless government.

Kinda weird she hasn’t just removed him herself at this point, guess people who said she wants him to see the bikini pics were right!
