I’ve laughed nervously when my mum passed away and I held her. I smiled when the doctor came in just because I wanted to be polite. It’s the weirdest thing. You are in total shock, you’ve never experience anything like this and yet you don’t respond all Hollywood which seems to be what some on here expect. I have no idea why I didn’t what I did but there’s no right or wrong. Your mind doesn’t proces it all. But again it seems some people are only satisfied if the husband had re-enacted a dramatic scene from Eastenders.
I laugh or make jokes at inappropriate moments aka Chandler Bing from Friends.

Coping mechanism x

I definitely agree that the police are holding their cards very close to their chest, and I’ve thought that since Nicola’s disappearance was announced.

I think they are literally releasing only a tiny fraction of information to the public

I wonder if she voluntarily stepped into the river with her wellies on thinking it was a shallow patch while trying to retrieve the tennis ball, and went under? This helps me understand why was so close to the water because that's the bit I'm struggling with. As someone said above there was no need to get that close unless for example she was retrieving the ball, and being so comfortable with the area and having done the walk hundreds of times wasn't as alert as she should've been (she was also distracted with work)

🤔 interesting. I'm with you on this..

It's actually what isn't being said that is interesting here.

Just something doesn't add up....I dont know what...and realise I'm one of those keyboard warriors but hey that's why tattle exists x
Let’s go with the theory that in the 10 unaccounted minutes she was murdered. Buried somewhere quickly and the killer managed to avoid the cctv both at the entry and the exit. Burying her body in what had to be a shallow grave, which search dogs were unable to locate and after a week of searching the area the police hasn’t found. I agree it sounds more logical than her falling into a river and being swept away by the strong current even the police divers struggled with.

Gosh that's quite a leap and imagination.

That's a very short window for that one scenario to have happened and therefore that's seems unlikely and illogical. Doesn't it now 😉

You're going into the water in a big coat ... you take it off.. or you get it off as soon as you hit the water and are drowning.. take your clothes off in a panic... take your wellies off... you scramble and shape your way up the river bank... you scream and shout... you hurt yourself getting trees and brambles and loosing possessions in your escape from death.... you're fighting for your life... I've done this...
And nothing .......bull this women has gone too quietly and too quickly.. young vibrant strong woman with everything to live for...
And nothing....
Absolute bull....

Have you read any of the earlier posts which describe how impossible this would be? If this was the case, no one would ever drown.

It’s not just the short window… it’s the rest as well. Which of course is easy to dismiss because it’s just too unlikely people drown by accident! This cannot happen!

I’ve not seen it from that view either. Looking at it you would think a healthy, fit woman would be able to get out of there even if she fell in. Maybe she had a medical episode… gosh it really is a mystery.
The police diver had to be pulled out - if he couldn’t do it alone, there’s no way an average woman wearing a heavy coat and wellies could.

Reading this makes me wonder how often you’ve drowned? You sound like the kind of person who thinks they’d be able to fight a bear should you run into one. Sod those people that get attacked by one, just fight back!

I cold water swim and believe me it has taken me a long time to be comfortable when hitting the water and that's in a controlled situation through choice.

The shock and panic when it isn't expected will reduce your chances...and the cold will impact your choices...you won't think logically and if a current won't be able to possibly reach to your wellies....

This is one of the options here...falling in...

But without a trace....and her phone not on her but left on the bench...

What about forensics on the scene should she have been murdered or abducted? Because that leaves a hell of a lot more traces than falling into water.

Im so sorry for your loss. But absolute shock is the best way to describe it. When the police came here and told me I just sat there staring at them for what felt like a lifetime. Don’t think I stopped shaking for at least a week afterwards.

Has no one here ever been on mute on a conference call, scrolled on your phone at the same time, AirPods in your ears, put your phone down next to you on the sofa, walked to the kettle to switch it on / let the dog out for a wee / answered the door to the postie / leaving your phone on the sofa?

Obviously I know this isn’t her sofa in her home, but she clearly didn’t expect to not come back. She expected to be a few seconds. Maybe the ball was rolling down the bank and Willow wasn’t paying attention so Nicola tried to catch it before it went in the river. Who knows.

I am so very sorry for your loss as well. This thread gets heated and at times people speculate the most random stuff but for some they have actually experienced this kind of shock (mine wasn’t as she was ill) and that must be so tough. X

Clearly not as they’ve been posting on here all day 😜

What I love, right, is people saying on this board literally designed for idle and fun speculation with no intrinsic value whatever that we shouldn't be irresponsible about what we say. THAT'S THE WHOLE bleeping POINT OF THIS BOARD. Idle speculation for entertainment, tinged with the bittersweetness of tragic reality, is a wet dream for most people. That's why you're here, pseudo moralists. Get over it. :)
Hopefully people would see the differences between speculating about how much an influencer earns off YouTube ads and accusing a grieving man of murdering his wife when all the evidence points to a tragic accident.

I’m sorry, I know I’ll get a lot of moralistic sneering on here for saying this but I don’t think she accidentally fell in the river. I think someone attacked her and pushed her in.

Again, I know I’ll get loads of hate for saying this but her partner’s eyes frighten me. I’m not accusing him. But something isn’t right. I am saying this as a victim of sexual assault and yes perhaps I am projecting past trauma onto an innocent man. But it’s got to the stage now where I can’t look at pictures of him.

Whatever the case, my heart goes out to her family and children. It is utterly heartbreaking.

I've read all of the earlier posts and I agree this is a possibility... but not the only one and I'm sure a young lady of 45 struggling in a river would have been heard... seen and left evidence of her dramatic trace along the river....my opinion is allowed here. Thanks...
