I think this is quite disrespectful to the majority of teachers here. I spend my weekends/evenings/breaks to plan/ create lessons to suit all the different needs of my classes. I never switch off from it. I have 8 different classes of 30 kids a day. I spend my lunches ringing parents to help best support their child and communicate if any issues. Managing a classroom is NOT like homeschooling! Yes some teachers will coast their way… but there are teachers who are so dedicated to their job and want the best for all the kids. Period. Don’t diss the job until you’ve actually been there!!

I don’t feel I was disrespectful to any teacher on here. All I was stating was my own personal opinion based on my own experience during lockdown. I am entitled to my own opinion as you are to yours. You don’t have to like it but that’s the joy of freedom of speech. My comment was a frivolous comment on a gossip website - don’t take it personally. My opinion does not in any way reflect your level of work or dedication to your job. I’m sure you work very hard, as do many other people in many other professions. However following lockdown, imo, I do not feel that teachers as a whole work any harder or deserve any more respect than any other profession. That’s maybe a better way to get across what I was trying to say. Again, you don’t have to like it because it’s just my own opinion.
