Does anyone have any advice on reflux and know if gaviscon worked for their baby? My baby has been crying well screaming and vomiting. NICU outreach said to call 111 tomorrow and ask for gaviscon, I really hope it works. Poor thing struggles enough with colic and now this.
Oh I really feel for you. My LO has silent reflux and it’s horrible  she was put on Gaviscon but it made her constipated (quite a common side effect) so she’s now on Omeprazole which has helped loads. Hope things get better soon x

Thank you! Yeah I spoke to my cousin and with her being a preemie I don’t want her constipated as well. Omeprazple sounds promising, how is that administrated? And no constipation? Glad it’s helped your little one 💖

No not yet, I asked my Health visitor and GP and they said it's a preemie thing they'll grow out of it soon🙄 I don't have a out reach nurse either.

So pleased she's doing well 🥰 (reflux aside!!)

Ahh right I’d prefer to just see if she grows out of it even though I want to cry every time she’s in pain. My cousin said it could also be to do with my let down when breastfeeding it might be too fast for her so to try leaning back when feeding. Don’t think I want her constipated on gavisgon.

Oh that sucks you don’t have an outreach nurse! Although I think the health visitor plays a similar role.

Thank you. I just really appreciate having her home.

Are you girls getting on ok at home? X

Gaviscon worked well for us, I only gave her a sachet in the morning and one at night as it can make them constipated but we had no issues on the two. She was only on it for just a couple weeks though

Thank you 💖

@Babyyoda88 no advice unfortunately, but yay for hitting 4lbs!! She must be such a little doll 🥰🥰🥰🥰

🎉. Haha she is a little doll 🥰

No constipation at all! It comes in different forms, if the dr does end up prescribing it you’ll probably get given a tablet that you have to dissolve in cooled boiled water and give via a syringe. Problem is when it dissolves it leaves little crystals and that’s what helps to neutralise the acid but they get stuck in the syringe 🤦‍♀️ I went back to the GP and they eventually agreed to give the liquid version which is very expensive (£197 for 75ml!) so they don’t like prescribing it but it’s designed for people who can’t swallow a tablet. A lady on here told me about it so I knew to push for the liquid and it’s so much easier to give through the syringe 🙂

Aww thank you for that. I’ll see what GP says. Liquid form sounds good. Outreach nurse suggested dissolve tablet in water and feed on a spoon.

4 month sleep regression? Is this a thing? Think I’ve overgoogled and now I’m in a tangled web of sleep phases and 3671 different opinions on how to cope with it. Over the last few days LO has been going from sleeping 4-6 hour stretches to 2 hours and whereas before I could put her in her crib the minute she fell asleep on me at night, now it takes longer. Is this her sleep patterns changing and going through the 4 phases rather than 2? I’m baffled.

Honestly do not understand how I’m going to cope back at work. My job involves making decisions and being logical and honestly since I’ve had this bebe I can barely decide what to have for breakfast and feel the need to Google and second guess everything. Motherhood is wild 🤣

4 months is a tough time with babies. They seem to go through something (I dunno what! Maybe mastering gross motor skills?) and it seems like they regress in so many areas, sleeping, feeding etc. It’s why traditionally so many people started weaning at that age, as they assumed more frequent wakenings and feedings meant baby was hungry.
It doesn’t last forever, and as long as you follow her cues you won’t go far wrong. X

I don't want to be that person, but my boy doesn't seem to have hit the 4 month sleep regression?! I didn't notice anything different during 'leap 4' neither!

I realise I've totally just jinxed myself now and fucked it. :ROFLMAO:

We think he started teething last night though, so there's that. I felt so bad, he was so upset. I panic ordered Ashton & Parsons teething gel and powder on Amazon Prime. Has anyone else used them?

Don’t worry, I’m sure whatever age you Google you can find a sleep regression for it, and they can’t do them all 🤣
I’ve never had “bad” teethers so we’ve never used anything, but everyone I know raves about Anbesol liquid. I’ve even heard a few adults say they use it for their wisdom teeth (I have no wisdom so have never been able to try it 🤣)

Mine didn't either but I feel like it's hit now at almost 6 months 😂

Orange juice! If you find your struggling to tolerate it please see if your midwife or GP can sort you an iron infusion!
I 2nd the orange juice, it’s meant to help absorb the iron quicker too I think

Honestly, my little boy had been sleeping from 7:30-6 every night. I never bragged about it Incase I jinxed it or upset anyone of course. But between me & hubby we kept saying ‘we are so lucky to have a baby that sleeps so well’ ‘I wonder what we’ve done differently to make him sleep so long’
The last 4 nights he’s woke at midnight, 4am & 6am.
now I feel like an idiot 🤣🤣🤣
I think I should have enjoyed it while it lasted cause I think that’s him going a full night done

Haha mine was quite a good sleeper from about 4 weeks to now, with a few exceptions, and everyone always said “oh she’ll sleep badly when she hits 4 months, just wait”. I’ve never understood why mums wish that on other mums! I’m glad yours sleeps well and hope you haven’t jinxed it! 🤣🤣 I think Google is actually the problem, there probably is scientific reasons why their sleep varies month to month but we don’t really question it if adults have a few nights bad sleep, so not sure why there’s so many names for it when it’s children. Think I just needed some reassurance after all my researching. Will probably find it a lot easier if I just play it by ear and stop overthinking it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We are back in hospital with baby’s epilepsy. Rocking her to sleep for every nap and sleep is killing me but she will not settle any other way here. She’s normally in bed by 6.30 at home. We only came to the ward at 6 after being in a and e since 10 and only now has she fallen asleep on me. Not brave enough to attempt a transfer to the cot yet as pretty sure if she wakes up I’ll be screaming. I’m so so tired. We were in hospital Thursday night too and are definitely in until at least Monday now 😫😫😫 m finding it really hard to be away from my toddler and missing lots of her friends bday parties etc. feeling very sorry for myself tongint.

I don’t know really what I can say but I’m so sorry 😔 how exhausting for you, do you have any idea how long she will be in for? Sending love xxx

This time until at least Monday when her specialist dr can see her and review her medication etc. we had a good run of no seizures for a couple of weeks and I was really optimistic but she’s had 3 today. They’re speeding up how quickly we ramp up her medicine to get more into her system and get it working quicker but at the moment there’s not enough to stop the seizures and she seems to be triggered by illness and has picked up hand foot and mouth. I am having a pity party for myself. I feel like we have had such a bad year- covid when I gave birth, my dad dying, half my family disowning us for killing my dad and now this. I’m just so exhausted. Although r it helps just to write it all out.

Aw mate, you have every right to feel sorry for yourself! Sounds absolutely exhausting and I hate insulting people trying to be positive when things are tit, but you're doing an amazing job being there for your little girl. Hope you manage to get some sort of sleep tonight x

@OIM I'm so sorry to hear how unwell your daughter is. But my goodness nobody would ever think you’re moaning or having a pity party ❤❤ As moimoi says, you have every right to be feeling the way you do, you’re in a tit situation after a tit year, and with an unknown time ahead. I think you’re a supermum x
