I’m so glad I’ve come across this thread 
my least favourite name is Olivia - I do have a cousin I love very much, called Olivia but I can’t stand the name! Julia too, I don’t know who would look at a child in our day and age and think “yep she looks like a Julia to me” (this Julia is 2 and again - adorable but THE NAME)

brayden. definitely not biased because that’s my crappy ex’s name. haha. and yes of course chantelle, that was his horrid mums name.
I knew a guy called Cliff, he was born ‘83-‘86 ish... so in his 30’s now. he owned it though. When I was pregnant with my first child he joked ‘if you want to use the name Cliff it really is ok, I won’t be mad or judge you, I’m just putting it out there for you, I can see you are too shy to ask..” etc... but much funnier
I dont ‘love’ my name... but it’s ok. People always auto shorten it, even when I have literally just introduced myself with my name... which I think is a bit rude but I don’t loose any sleep over it... My kids names have not been slated on here yet either so that’s a plus

Destiny has to be THE worst, it’s chavvy personified, I know 2 Destiny’s (yes I know I REALLY do) and one is about 12 and her parents are very chavvy and esp the way they speak, it’s like “Desstinnnnyyyy”
and the other one is about 15 and also a chavvy name.As much as I don’t like her then Katie Hopkins had a point when she said on ThisMorn that some names are chavvy, it’s no different to what we are all saying here, except maybe I wouldn’t have the nerve to say all this on TV
and I wouldn’t stop my daughter being pals with someone just because of their name! India, her daughters name, is also a beautiful name and it’s way better than Brooklyn, another location name that she hated!! I find India to be a classy name and the one woman I know (she was once on Gordon Ramsay’s “Kitchen Nightmares”) named India is classy, but that’s because her parents are.This happens to me too! I don't mind being called by my shortened name amongst friends and family, but when it's someone I've just met I find it... overly familiar?
I don't think I'll have kids, but I've always sworn that if I do, I won't give them a long name that's typically auto shortened.

I keep seeing that people don’t like hyphenated names and I’m sitting here like my name is hyphenated -Jade and I was born in 1992 so there weren’t many people with hyphenated names. Honestly my parents chose my name because my mum wanted to call me Melody (thank duck she didn’t) and my dad liked the first part of my name but my mum thought it was too harsh (it has been mentioned early in the thread) so they added the Jade to soften it. My parents and siblings always call me by my actual name and so do most people in a professional setting. My friends shorten my name but it doesn’t bother me.
When people I was in school with started hyphenating their kids names I started to hate my own, these are all -Jane -May -Lily -Rose -Leigh but the parents were such chavy people always looking for the next bandwagon to jump on. I’m no lady of the manor or anything but I do think that the whole hyphenated names trend stems from the idea that it makes the parents and child seem more ‘upper class’.
My friend is a teacher and says you can actually tell who’s parent is collecting which child because the name reflects the parentsthe horror show of names she comes out with are awful Emma - Lilly, Renesmee-Mae, Ivy-Jean, Oxton, Channel (said like Chanel but spelt channel)

I weirdly think this is stunning, for some reason! Ivy on its own, not so much. Reminds me of spooky old haunted houses. But adding -Jean somehow elevates it (and I hate double-barrelled names, so I'm even more confused!)
I agree with many of you... I have never liked the name Darcy.. especially if it’s shortened (god knows why you’d do that)
