Never liked the name Jared - always sounds like you're calling them a Jarhead 🤷

I've thought of some more names I really dislike since I posted my original list, so here goes:

Wendy
Leighton
Gavin
Gary
Nigel
Judith - was at school with one and she was a complete trollope and a total witch
Sandra - used to work with one and she was an utter bleep
Carol(e) - same reason as for Sandra
Blue - just why is this now a "name"?
Sharon
Tracey
Vernon
Adrian
Katie
Chesney
Victoria
Hilda
Maud
Mavis
Ethel (sorry Nan, loved you but not your name)
Griselda - sounds like gristle!
Archie
Betty - give the poor child the full name (Elizabeth) so at least when she's an adult she has an adult name to use if she wants, Betty might be cute on a 5 year old, but on a 40 year old doctor/lawyer/whatever?? No.
Jeremy - knew one as a child and he was a one kid gang
Actually knew a Blue who's now 27 bet his mums fuming how popular it is now 😂

A lot of kids now have just the shortened version like Betty or Alfie or Herbie (I know a Herbie) so maybe when they’re older it won’t be so unusual.

Oh my lord! I don't get why this name has no many silent alphabets in it? Just spell it Sean.....
Why would you spell it Sean when it’s not said like Sean and is a completely different name 😂
Sean - Shaun
Siobhan - Shivawn

I’m not a fan of the name Siobhan, but getting it so wrong made me laugh

Freya. Can’t stand it just sounds so flat, there is a little tit in my daughters year with the same name and her mum really gets on my nerves 😂
I love Freya, I knew someone nearly twenty years ago that named her daughter Freya. At the time it was almost unheard of. I think it is a Scandi name.
I also love Erin 😊

Thought it would be interesting in seeing what names you HATE. I’ll start 🤣

Tyler
McKenzie
Angel
Tobias
Jayden
Aiden
Lexi
Paige
Rosie
Oooo controversial ! Can I ask why you don’t like Rosie? (Don’t worry not offended not everyone has the same taste I’ve just never heard of anyone not liking it and have never thought of it as chavvy!

Ava! Such a pretty name but so overused I don’t know how anybody can now name their baby ava knowing it is going to be one of 10 in their class

Not a joke, but it’s funny how a lot of influencers’ names ping on my radar as being rubbish, eg:

Zoe
Alfie
Simon
Melissa
Joe

Also the quirky names that say a whole lot more about the parents than children:

Gaia
Teejay

Sparrow

I'd much prefer a Sparrow than a Chardonnay. My friend's teenage daughter has a friend called Chardonnay. When did Footballers Wives air?! I never truly believed that someone would call their child that, but each to their own. Apparently the parents live up to their name choice and little Chards is often left to fend for herself 😪

I personally don't like the name Pearl. As a non native English speaker I can't pronounce the ea and rl sound well and then it just sounds like Peel.
Also it starts making me wonder about the ethicality of pearl farming and ends me up on a 2 hour long Google search because I can't let it go.
Just don't name children after inanimate objects. But will be low key disappointed if nobody is going to name their kid Corona this year. Connie for short?

Sparrow is awful - why name your child after something that conjures up such a frail image - like something from a Dickens story.

I can’t stand when people are called Hayley and they change it on Facebook to ‘haylie’ ‘Hailey’ or those Called Alisha changing it to ‘allescha’ or we have the Rachel’s who decide to spell it ‘rachaele’ even though it’s not on there birth certificate they just like to be quirky

Yes, Freya is an old norse name and origins back to the vikings. It means "A noble woman" up here in scandi. Though we usually spell it Freja.

I've always found it fascinating how brits are starting to use old norse names for their kids that goes beyond those found in the movie "Frozen". Some of them sound really odd with english pronunciation.
