With MN it seems posters pride themselves in the put down. There’s a scramble to be the first to post one. It doesn’t matter how upset or vulnerable the target is as long as the nasty poster can get one up on them. That mentality wrecks the whole site.

They are very quick with deleting posts these days. And there are so many posters with zero sense of humour. I love a good pisstake, but there’s too many pompous posters on MN now.
I think they get a bit elitest sometimes, if you have been around so long you remember penis beaker, pombear or cutted up pear you're in. If not jog on!

I have had a few laugh out loud moments there but it's mostly people that take everything so seriously now!

I think Xenia is largely telling the truth about her life and career so she doesn’t care, with some exaggeration about her kids and her parenting. She’s a piece of work but I can’t see her being any different in real life somehow! LaQueen on the other hand not so much 🤣
Yes shes exactly who she said she is and i bet people in rl would recognise her immediately. But yes LeQueen and others exagerate their lives.

Its crazy now to remember back in the old days people use to have loads of photos of their kids and house on their profiless. It is so much harder now to humble brag with a lovely photo of the dog playing oh so subtlely in front of your massive house or the kids school photos with their private school uniforms on display. Now one has to frett publically over the school fees.

I know this was mentioned a few days ago now but I read the thread with the mum talking about the son she had taken off of her when she was in a domestic abuse relationship.

Some of the replies seemed so nasty, I understand having a different view or opinion about what she was saying but they don’t seem to remember there’s a person on the end of it, going through that situation reading all the replies. One just said something like “he already has a mum, his adoptive mum, he doesn’t need another”. Can’t imagine how upset the poster must have been reading that.

I also hate that stupid video that pops up every few minutes!

I'm really surprised AF made that thread tbh! Surely to goodness even she is capable of reading the room at a time like this. I'm even more surprised that the same old names are still popping up doing the same old things. Do they never get bored and why the feck haven't they just applied for a "job" as mod because that's what they do day in day out.

I used to tangentially know the co-founder, Carrie Longton (we’re from the same place) and know people still in contact with her. The rumour was always that she’d done the lions share of the work but Justine wanted the credit and the limelight.

i suspect in recent years with all the scandals, Carrie is probably quite happy about that!

Or when the poster posts for advice. It’s something traumatic and/or sensitive. Posters give advice but many also reply asking for updates as if it’s a soap and they need the next instalment. They then get huffy when the OP quite rightly disappears.

Fucking ghouls.

The constant * I'm following rules but my NDN has parties every Friday night *
Stop curtain twitching .. it's been a year now . Apart from pubs and betting shops everything is open .. people are bored and are being vaccinated, you do you and let the rest crack on
They’ve been behaving like this from the very start. Getting their knickers in a knot because their neighbours were sitting in their garden, or someone across the road had taken their dog for walk more than once. Those are just two really petty examples I saw. It was very easy to see who‘d have been in the Gestapo in another life that’s for sure. Yeah go ahead and report them, but remember that this won’t last forever and you’ve got to continue living by these people. But then most Mumsnetters seem to hate their neighbours anyway and find fault with everything they do, and this is just an extension of that.

My school packed lunch usually consisted of Walls wafer thin ham on white sliced bread, a bag of Walkers crisps and either a Mint or Orange Club. All washed down with a can of Tango(90’s child). I’m sure they’d all want my mum strung up for it.
I was an 80’s kid and took spaghetti hoops in a thermos flask !

The whole business element is baffling to me.

I understand that currently companies aren’t paying out big advertising spends, but in the long run you need a lot of £5 per month to compensate the advertising spends. The premise is that if you pay you don’t see ads, but if everyone subscribed and no one is seeing the ads then why would advertisers pay to be on the site?

I also don’t understand 350k a month salary bill, I don’t work in this industry it comparable to the company I do work for it seems an awful lot,?

I’m sick of the. * my husband wants dinner when he gets in from 13 hours out of the house at work * threads
They all seem to * run around * after toddlers * run errands * , what the fuck does that even mean ?? and has doctors appointments... no one has doctors appointments every day ... seriously, it’s taken you longer to write that post than it has to shove a jacket potato in the oven that pretty much cooks itself and spend 10 seconds opening a tin of beans
Yes my husband would be too tired for anything else after spending eleventy hours a day out the house while you have the luxury of staying at home all day , and yes it is a luxury I’ve been there 3 times and was fortunate to be able to stay at home on one wage packet .
the man doesn’t want a 3 course meal , he just wants something to eat when he gets home. ... shove a chicken in the oven and Chuck a bag of salad at it . My husband loves these simple dinners
cue the endless get him to cook his own meal cheeky fucker , book a spa day and endless cheeky fuckery posts and sit him down and have a chat with him .. dude if I sat my man down and made some patronising bullshit up about how difficult my life was I’d get the sharp end of his tongue ...and if I had time to * sit him down * I’d have time to shove a jacket potato in the oven

AND you’re a greedy fat pig if that chicken doesn’t last 58 meals too
“House/life admin” is the one that gets me. Eh? Gone are the days where you have to go to the bank with your chequebook to pay your bill. Everything is online. Insurance renewals are an annual job. Yet “life admin” is talked about like a great big regular task that takes up so much time and maybe I just don’t get it.

Down for me too. The site is glitchy as hell. I bet they are running it on some clapped out server somewhere and someone turned the plug off!

I couldn't get over a thread a couple of weeks ago when users branded Yankee candles as 'cheap'. I only use neom was one posters response. £40 a pop for a candle. You're literally burning money. What the fucking fuck? I can't even afford Yankee candles, I buy the Aldi dupes for 3.99 and it's a big treat. 🤣
I bet they’re the same women who used to buy them on QVC years ago and thought they were the bees knees having an American imported candle, but now turn their noses up because production moved to the Czech Republic (last time I read) and you can buy them in Asda 🤣

The Aldi ones are fab, neom is so overrated IMO. On all fronts.

On a shallow note how gutted would you be if you thought you were being gifted a pearl necklace, only to find out your fella was just planning to spunk somewhere between your tits and face. 😢
