I'm Surrey born and still kinda technically live there, albeit on the very edge of outer London (think near Heathrow) and I have always been a friendly soul.
I always thanked the bus driver, when I still roamed outside and have always thanked people who let me out of a junction.
Hell, I speak to my neighbours on the odd occasion I see them and even gave them a welcome to your new home card when they moved in, with bin dates and my number just in case.
We loves you @Kikini Bamalam 💕 Serious. You are immense. Isn’t it? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I always thank the bus driver, wave thanks to zebra crossing drivers and am generally friendly to retail staff.

I bought some fake Pimms from Aldi recently and the cashier asked what time he could call round for a drink, and to make sure it was iced. If I was a mumsnet knobber, I’d have started a thread on AIBU, but I’m not, I laughed and said there won’t be any left by the time you finish work, mate 😂😂😂
I've had similar banter when I've bought excessive amounts of chocolate - usually I say "It'll be gone before I get back to the car." 😂

I am obviously not mums net material - I love chatting to complete strangers and sharing life stories, and passing a few friendly words with shop assistants etc. I was born to be an amiable nosey Parker, I think.

Oooh, me too! I love a good old chinwag with people in queues etc. It's surprising what one can find out!

This morning I got talking to a lady at the butchers & was bemoaning the fact that the Co-op had run out of ice cream. She told me that the Tesco 7-11 shop further down the village had just had a delivery. Whizzed down straightaway & got a large tub of decent vanilla & a box of fruity lollies. Result! :giggle:

You haven't reported him to his manager? I'd be fuming at such unbridled unfamiliarity. Kindly, this is a serious professional infraction.

Good lord, they are eating people now.

Sick of “it’s too hot to eat people”
I consider myself marked safe from being eaten by MNers. Nowhere near lean enough for their teeny-tiny-tummies to digest.

Sometimes, being a flabby hephalump has advantages. 😎

Those miserable buggers at mumsnet must miss out on so much!

I rather like it when someone behind or in front or opposite you on a bus joins in your conversation and you end up with a couple of other people chipping in.* This would be hell on earth for the mumsnetters who would probably have anti-stalking orders out on all of them.

Hope your ice cream haul is delicious!

*It's always oldies like myself swapping stories of people's knee replacements and recipes to use up leftover fish sticks etc.

Hah. My favourite thread of the day. I absolutely love that she had a tantrum about not being able to have her keto chicken & salad so stropped off for a McDonalds of all things :ROFLMAO:

Being a large poor northerner I didn’t learn about “guac” until I moved south. I worked in healthcare and learned “guaiac” first, so now the two are interchangeably linked in my brain 🤢

speaking of the dNHS and Tui, I booked a dTUI holiday with my Dbluelightcard earlier this year. When you book they slap “holidays for heroes” all over your booking 🤣 . Visions of me running about greys anatomy style saying crap like “it’s good day to save lives” being all heroic instead of sitting mostly at a computer 🤣

You are so right - it's great when people join in! If the buttoned-up miserable Mumsnetters don't want to chat along, then it's fine by me!
