People that use supper as the word for their main evening meal genuinely make me murderous. Maybe I should storm off to McDonald's car park to calm myself down
My FIL calls it supper, and that’s just one of the reasons I want to him in the face.

The badly behaved brits at the all inclusive resort has turned into a vicious fight between two posters. 😂😂

Nice to see a few people sticking up for Tui holidays too 🏖👙

The big daughter troll is back. She's very concerned as said big daughter has a big husband and may make their child big and large.

That DMcDonald's OP has inadvertently summarised why everyone on MN is so aggy all the time. Yes you need food, of sufficient calorie content to allow your body to work. And no, OP the other day, sunshine doesn't mean your body needs less calories FFS. You are not a reptile or whatever creatures it is that can shut their essential functions down.

Where do we stand on the 'you don't need to thank drivers who stop at a zebra crossing' debate? I'm in the 'it's nice to be nice and costs nothing' camp so of course I always wave/nod a thank you. The OP in AIBU sounds a right twit and is getting wound up by people saying that - she doesnt believe it's necessary so never says thank you :ROFLMAO:
I always wave a "thank you" - as you say, nice to be nice and costs nothing.

As a proud Northerner I also thank the bus driver when I get off. This seems to be something that amazes many southerners visiting up here. ("Why are you thanking the driver? It's their job!"). I've often wondered if these people bother to thank wait staff, receptionists, shop assistants etc.

It's just one of these little things that make the world a pleasanter place, and we really need as many of those as we can think of.

I have always loved the Somerset way of thanking the bus driver - "Cheers, drive!"

Why wouldn't you thank someone for providing you a service? If we all stopped doing the bare minimum of social niceties life would be even shittier than it is. Jesus.

I'm in Dublin and always always always thank the bus driver(s). Threads appear on Reddit every so often asking why we do it. Dublin Bus even uses it in their ads for recruiting new drivers - get thanked for a living. 😁

I always thank bus drivers, other drivers, people serving me in shops.

I draw the line at clapping when a plane lands though.

When I moved to London from Newcastle back in the late 90s, I said thank you to a bus driver and he said "pardon?" He just hadnt heard anyone thanking him before.

This is what we say in Plymouth too. I remember a lady saying that and her child (he was about 4 or 5) said "thanks mate"

I wonder if it's just Londeners, then, and I am tarring all southerners with the same bad-mannered brush?

The rest of them sound OK.

I always thank the bus driver, wave thanks to zebra crossing drivers and am generally friendly to retail staff.

I bought some fake Pimms from Aldi recently and the cashier asked what time he could call round for a drink, and to make sure it was iced. If I was a mumsnet knobber, I’d have started a thread on AIBU, but I’m not, I laughed and said there won’t be any left by the time you finish work, mate 😂😂😂

I'm Surrey born and still kinda technically live there, albeit on the very edge of outer London (think near Heathrow) and I have always been a friendly soul.
I always thanked the bus driver, when I still roamed outside and have always thanked people who let me out of a junction.
Hell, I speak to my neighbours on the odd occasion I see them and even gave them a welcome to your new home card when they moved in, with bin dates and my number just in case.

Have you considered you may have a problem? Head tilt.

I can't drink pimms anymore as I went to my best friend's bbq in our early 20s and we didn't realise we needed to mix it.

Straight pimms on a very hot day had a disastrous outcome.

Pimms is a gin based drink 🍸 HTH
Drinking it straight is madness.
I can remember necking neat vodka (disguised as water) at Download and I don’t remember anything else about the festival 😂😂😂
