Taken from a thread about whether or not the aristocracy still have staff..

View attachment 1693025
I don’t think that counts as ‘staff’ unless the window cleaner works solely for her (like all the others she’s listed) 🙄 That’s what I assume ‘staff’ means and none of the stuff she’s listed is out of the ordinary (but good on her for trying to sound rich).

I mean I could say I ‘contract out’ my grocery shopping as I have it delivered so someone else picks it for me. Or maybe ‘my personal shopper at Asda’ sounds even better.

Other stuff I ‘contract out’

Hairdresser
Dentist (I’d do it myself but I have the income so why not?)
Postal delivery

🙄

There is a thread at the moment about halloween and if it is disrespectful for parents to dress their children in costume for a church play group. I did roll my eyes a bit, but the responses are just gleeful, snide, spiteful, falling over themselves to show how ‘witty’ they are with rude responses that they obviously think are oh-so-clever 🙄

The OP says the church has a ‘light party’ instead and one response was ‘what do they dress up as? Lightbulbs?’ which in turn led to another poster ‘howling’ at this response. Really?? Howling??

Haven't read that thread, but that howling thing on MN fries what is left of my brain.
Maybe they think it's extra funny to use it in relation to Hallowe'en. 🙄
Bottom line is a lot of them need to get out more, given the things that supposedly make them 'howl'.

I have a personal chef at McDonalds and my delivery driver ( Just Eat) brings it to me.

Howling, crying with laughter, snorting coffee over the keyboard - they have very low standards when it comes to finding things funny.

I also think that Halloween thread is taking the piss out of people's beliefs. I'm an atheist but respect that not everyone thinks the same way as I do.

I haven't attempted to read it.
I glanced at what was trending on there this morning and couldn't be bothered opening even one of them.

I must admit I don’t understand why some Christian’s have a problem with Halloween? Its a relatively new thing as well as I used to go to a Halloween parties as a child that were held in a church hall which would also be attended by the vicars kids!

Same. I think it’s generally more evangelical/born again Christian’s that have an issue. Halloween’s an ancient Irish and Scottish festival and the whole point of dressing up as demons was to mock them.

Having said that, if people aren’t comfortable for whatever reason then that’s their right. The sneering on mn is nauseating.

Some thickos on Mumsnet are still insisting Halloween is an American import.

Tell them it actually began this side of the Atlantic and they are dumbfounded.

Now pass me a bag of Haribo before the trick or treaters eat them all.

It drives me up the wall when people think Halloween is an American invention!

Anyway, as a Scottish person I feel I’m duty bound to celebrate so I’m going to watch Hocus Pocus (the original) tonight with chocolate and a glass of wine.

Yeah drives me mad. To be fair trick and treating is an import to the south of England. Nort of England, Scotland and Ireland have always done halloween in our own way. But if it didn’t originate in the south of England then well you know…

Not scotts, but Halloween in the midlands in the 70's involved carving turnip. How I made it to adulthood with all my fingers never ceases to amaze me.

Someone posted a photo of their hole? 🤮 🤮 🤮

Actually I remember a woman posting a photo of her manky fanny, asking if this red swollen pustule was a Bartholin's cyst - but it was in Sporner's Corner to be fair to her.

Almost as bad as "oh my god I just snorted my tea" or "I shook that much when I laughed I woke my Husband up" or "I just howled laughing and the dog jumped up in fright"
