I've been enjoying all the recent "my energy bills have gone from £500 to £800 a month, how will I cope?" threads. On further questioning it always turns out OP is running her tumble dryer for three hours a day and ignores all advice to line dry her washing because she likes her towels fluffy.

One poster on one of the 'what are you doing to save energy' threads mentioned that she now washes her towels after every second use rather than daily - the horror!

There’s one where dad is making a birthday cake and didn’t make the rainbow cake mum wanted. He forgot to put the colouring in.

Has anyone else noticed there has been a lot of ‘fading looks’ threads lately? All of which are expressing dismay that they are no longer 18 and the target of leering blokes anymore.

Not dressing from Boden, Mint Velvet, Sea Salt Cornwall et al might be a start. Most of the ones posting this are well to do anyway and can afford Botox etc, you can still be attractive to men at any age even if you no longer have builders whistling at you

Today some lunatic wants to get just 1 insurance policy for identical twins, on a car they are taking to Uni to share and if anything happened they would claim to be the named one on the policy.
It has been pointed out to them that the driver could be killed and the other one would have to be the non named person for the rest of their life whether they were or not.
What is wrong with some people.

I know someone who has identical twins but has just added one on to their David Lloyd membership. They only take one of them at a time (for other reasons).

Doing it for car insurance is off the scale stupidity though.

Another absolute mindblower on relationships. OP’s autistic son doesn’t like her ‘partner‘ and she doesn’t know what to do about it. A few posts in and it quickly transpires that she‘s only been with the ‘partner’ for five months, and yet he’s met her kids and is staying over several times a week. OP also talks about how they have different approaches to ‘parenting’ (yes really). So she’s not only practically moved this man after only five months of dating, she’s also allowing him to parent her children, and now she’s wondering why her child is unhappy about it all? The OP is being very defensive when it’s pointed out that five months is way too soon to be referring to him as her partner and to have introduced him to her kids and is accusing them of making her feel terrible 🙄

There's a thread on there at the moment where the OP intentionally tricked her DP into getting pregnant by not taking her pill. Of course all the replies are super supportive and telling her "You've only done what you are biologically programmed to do". No one calling her a manipulative b or anything.

Imagine if it was the other way around and she didn’t want a baby but her partner poked holes through a condom? It’s so wrong

They'd be screeching "LTB! LTB!" and talking about reporting it to the police as grape and so on. But this is OK and "it's just what you're ~biologically programmed~ for"?

And also apparently at 35 it’s now or never. Er, no it isn’t. I’ve got lovely eggs thank you even though in Mumsnet terms I might as well book in for HRT at the grand old age of 36.

35 isn't old at all. My paternal grandmother got pregnant at 38 and 40 and two of my relatives had babies in their early 40's. I know one woman who got pregnant at 48 after years of trying and lots of rounds of IVF but I think in her case, it was secondary infertility. On Mumsnet, as soon as you hit 35, that's it, your fertility declines and you become peri-menopausal, which is another of their obsessions. I don't know anyone else who uses the term "peri-menopausal" in real life.

That thread has made me angry in so many ways.
