It's not like Boden is anything special. My sister in law went through a period of loving them, so I got her gift vouchers from there for a few years and they now always send me a £10 off voucher on my birthday. Everything I've had from there has been really flimsy cotton.

There was a thread on there earlier this week from a woman who was worried about potential abuse of her little girl by her partners parents. I read it feeling a bit sick because it really didn’t sound right, it must have only just been posted because there were no replies. I haven’t been able to find it since and it’s been playing on my mind - I hope she got some useful advice on what to do.

There's an AIBU thread currently where someone asks if she should leave her husband as she's not happy in the marriage but scared to be on her own. Someone told her she should stay because "anyone who tells you you'll have a wonderful new career, house, and friends is lying, you'll just be lonely and poor." That's helpful isn't it. It's certainly harder for those who are SAHMs or working part time but there can be life after divorce (ie good life, not just struggle)

Did anyone see the post about the women with the boyfriend and the posters 15 year old daughter was saying to her mum that she found him creepy. She went into details about sleepovers etc I mean alarm bells galore.
And the bleeping moron of a woman was like I don't know who to believe. Like you bleeping idiot.

Did anyone read the poster who was like I can't stop snacking...and asked do you snack in the evening. It was a genuine question and you should have read the sanctimonious responses....MN live off bread and water, so many of the responses said they ate at the same time every day and stopped eating at 6pm. No snacks ever.
bleeping miserable.

Yes! And the one who’s next door neighbour was making inappropriate comments to her little boy, hanging around waiting for them, trying to arrange to spend time with him - everyone was telling her to trust her gut and cut off contact and after about 16 pages she was still saying how she didn’t want to jump to conclusions or offend them 🤦🏻‍♀️

MN makes it painfully clear how many (middle class, educated) women have eating disorders. They’re all either orthorexic or barely eat at all. Egging each other on by talking about the tiny portions they serve themselves. Stuffed after eating a “big salad”. All the gasps of horror when posters dare to discuss having double carbs on their plate.

I’ve been on mumsnet since 2004 (I know) and in many ways it’s been a life saver for me, helped me to see that I was suffering domestic abuse and I did eventually LTB

However it’s now, in later years, freaking bonkers. So many horrible, repressed, vile posters who all shop at Waitrose, drink 2 bottles of wine a night and think that’s normal.

Little old me in my minimum wage factory job, shop in primary and Asda and just normal..well I’m seen as a bit of rum really, I remember one thread I read where anyone with a minimum wage job was seen as a not worth dating as they had no career aspirations and too poor and boring. Fk me how tit.

I HATE this and the other post on abuse red flags from a neighbour even more. The second one is woefully inadequate parenting and needs calling out whenever it happens!! Trigger warning for child abuse & CSA & murder in this post -

With this recent spate in high profile child murders it’s more true now than ever that child safeguarding is all of our responsibility, and we really need to question every single adult in a child’s life, literally like health & safety in the office! It ducks me off no end to think of actual parents just turning a blind eye or assuming the best in adults at the cost of children, as to not offend anyone. Sorry but no, idgaf who I offend my daughter matters more than anyone else in the world. I’m her eyes, ears, mouth whilst she’s still too little to defend herself from the horrors in the world!

We recently had a bit of a weird situation with nursery and a problem that was a major red flag for abuse. Obviously it knocked me sick & I entered a state of personal panic, but I calmly did all the right things a mummy could to advocate for her and check nothing bad was happening, and thank god it wasn’t. Statistically the worst case scenario is always going to be the slimmer odds but that doesn’t mean you just don’t bleeping bother? When asking certain questions and making requests like spot checking CCTV I’m sure it could have the potential to offend people - but what decent person would actually be offended by a mum wanting every scenario that could possibly contribute to a child’s behaviour investigated? You’d only be funny about it if you were hiding something surely? Thankfully it turned out to be something silly and random as is often the case with toddlers but I have reassurances that the nursery took the issue incredibly seriously, worked with me to investigate, and are continuing to work with us for a resolution for the problem which is actually to do with heights rather than any individual. If anyone got funny with me at any stage I’d have pulled her out and reported them for being sick guys and possibly gone turbo Karen on the local Facebook page. How on earth someone can’t tell a potential n*nce neighbour to duck off and not so much as look over the fence again is beyond me! Why don’t people see children as little people we need to protect + care for?! There is seriously something wrong with society where we are constantly failing little ones time and time again.

Sorry for the rant I just hate that even on a bleeping parenting forum these kids are being left to fend for themselves against clearly boundary-less freaks of adults.

Absolutely agree with everything you’ve said! I am a new mum to a little girl and as someone who was abused as a child themselves I am hyper vigilant to anything that seems a bit off - I’ll have no issue as she gets older questioning things and I don’t care if people think it’s over protective or offensive. As you said, anyone without anything to hide would understand!

Glad to hear everything was fine with your little one too.

Sometimes I wonder if those posts are made up just to rile people up. I really can’t believe that someone would put their neighbours feelings over the safety of their own child 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think a lot of posts are made up, click bait, trolling. Well I hope they are, I hope most of them are not actually true.

Did anyone see the bleeping awful woman who was moaning about her MIL using glitter and wrapping paper that couldn't be recycled 😂 the poster was bleeping fuming that her kids would get presents wrapped in such offensive paper.🥴

Cue the 50% telling her to get a grip and the other 50% trying to out compete saying how they use brown paper to wrap their presents.

The best response pointed out that her kids have a far more damaging effect on the environment than some paper 😂

I had (note past tense) a friend like this. I met her for lunch one day and ordered lasagne and chips. She gave a big gasp when It arrived and loudly declared to the entire restaurant "I can't believe you're having DOUBLE CARBS!".
Thirty seconds later, the waiter appeared with some garlic bread which apparently also came with the lasagne 😂

The ironic thing is she was about twice my size, yet to listen to her she apparently ate nothing but salad and steamed veg and fish.

A sampling of today's recent AIBU threads:

A woman asking if she should call the police because her husband thought he heard a neighbour repeatedly yelling "ballsack." Thankfully the replies suggested the person was likely gaming and no, OP shouldn't call police

Someone complaining that too many women in her workplace cry at work and she thinks it is unprofessional and undermining women in the workplace (#humblebrag)

"AIBU to give our baby a double barrelled surname" OP is engaged but they don't plan to marry any time soon so she'd like her baby to have both names. That's a decision for you and your fiancé to make, not strangers on the internet

A poster had a "gut feeling" an acquaintance had died and couldn't reach him, he turned up alive despite her frequent insistence to other posters he must be dead. I feel for OP as she doesn’t seem in the best of mental health but still, what would Mumsnet be able to do for her either way?

The last one about the missing person, I read the thread and it was written by a man, he’d been having a sexual relationship for 9 years with a Muslim man and the guy had gone AWOL. They weren’t romantically involved but were friends?!?

I didn't read that far. Still, I worry about OP as he had become pretty distressed, the Prosecco Patrol won't help!!

Another one up currently is "AIBU to ban our kittens from the kitchen." They're your pets and your kitchen. Why do you need strangers to make this decision for you? It reminds me of a recurring sketch on Chris Morris' infamous "Jam" where a man would go to an expensive consultant to ask what to do about very trivial issues such as forgetting his wallet or not knowing what to do on Saturday night

Lasagne, chips & garlic bread is the best meal!!!
