Oh maybe throw in that you don’t give the daily Mail permission to print it, not that that means anything anyway
Lol always makes me laugh when someone starts a thread a thread with a disclaimer saying ‘I do not give the Daily Mai permission to republish this’ like it has some legal weight behind it😂

It’s weird how they all seem to holiday in the same places. Center Parcs or a cottage in the UK, campsites in the South of France or rustic ‘unspoiled’ places in Spain or Greece. They never go to Benidorm or Majorca or stay in an all inclusive hotel or resort somewhere.
There’s a brilliant poster who is the be all and end all of etiquette (she actually gave birth to a 300-page linen-lined hard back Debrett’s etiquette guide sometime between 1983-86, it was a much celebrated occasion…) I remember her posting about being on holiday in France - I absolutely cannot do her posts justice but she replied to various nonsense posts always with a tidbit about being “currently in a small wooden boat as my husband rows us on this Sunday morning to the nearest town to visit its bakery - dreamt heaven” as if you’re having the most marvellous twee holiday but the call of MN’s discussion boards is too loud to ignore, rather than take in the splendour of French culture and river wildlife.

I do not understand their obsession with 'lie-ins'. Sure, a couple hours' extra sleep with a new baby is a much-needed break but many of these women talking about lie-ins do not have children keeping them up at night.

I feel like they think it's one of the hallmarks of middle-aged, middle-class womanhood - wine, lie-ins, Amish clothes and a 1200 calorie-a-day diet.

I'm just scanning a thread that's getting all the justice warriors out.

A woman posts to say she forgot to pay a friend £120 for a concert ticket 8 years ago. The friend never said a word about not being paid back. Then, the OP gets married and receives a card to say "Since you never paid me back that £120, let's call it your wedding present so we're quits"

I think the normal reaction to this is whoa, that's passive aggressive. That's petty. Why seethe about it for 8 years when you could just have said "Oi! Where's my £120?" She waited for your WEDDING to make a point? I don't think she likes you...

Not Mumsnetters. Mumsnetters are like "You are disgusting. £120 is so much money. You should pay her back. You should pay her back NOW, with interest. Have you fucking paid her back yet?"

Anyway, it could be a load of made up bollocks, but I find it fascinating how supposed adult women think it's out of the question to ask a friend to pay you back for something. It's not that hard.

Absolutely right! If I haven’t caught dysentery by the end of my trip, I truly wasted my time as I haven’t fully immersed myself into their culture
They always emerse themselves in the culture of the holiday they go on don't they?! Oh we eat the local food and speak the local language and follow the local customs.

Because Longleat Centre Parcs is dead exotic ennit?!

Not wanting to see a child eating a bag of crisps in the street before school is less related to concern for the child’s health and more to do with worrying it might affect the house prices in the area I bet.

I am most excited to get stuck into the bathroom bin thread. I might treat myself to a pepsi max for my adventure into madness.

There's a great thread on there today about would you let your 12 year old go to a sleepover where the kids will all be staying in an annex next door to the parents house. Mixed responses, but quite a few saying it's too young to be in a separate building (even if it is next door) but maybe when they were 14-15. One said not until they were 18!

They need to get onto the Stacey Solomon thread on here where her older (9 and 13) kids bedrooms are in an annex about 50ft from the main house 😂 😂 😂

I want to know why so many of them have builders in their houses all the time. ‘What coffee shall I buy the builder?’, ‘do I say hello to it?’, ‘my builder had the audacity to look at me - should I report him?’ etc. I don’t think I’ve ever once had a builder in my house or even know anyone who has to be honest. Then again I’m not middle or upper class so that might be why! 😉😁
That thread about should I give ‘my’ builders instant coffee is really pissing me off. It’s the ‘hold your nose, there’s trade about’ attitude coming out. They’ve got enough money to pay the builders to do extensive work but apparently they can’t afford to waste the nespresso on them? The utter contempt they show people who do jobs like nannying, cleaning, building and other assorted ‘lower class’ jobs absolutely stinks. I hope her builders are overcharging her by 50%

Has anyone else seen that thread in active named "Is anyone else freaked out?" about the recent mild weather. 17 pages of MNers ripping the shit out of each other and fighting like cats in a bag..all about the bloody weather. That site is toxic beyond belief.

Why do they all get their knickers in a twist over people wanting to visit their newborns!?

Its always ‘i would NEVER allow anyone to visit us until we have had 365 days together a family’ blah blah..’ i get wanting your own time as a family but you don’t need a whole
Month! people who love you are excited and want to show their love.

And then a few years down the line the same people complain about lack of family help 🙄

Basically what they mean most of the time is i want to keep MIL away, but my mum is ok.

A girl I went to school with was from a JW family (I didn't know her very well, she was a year older than me) She ended up working with a friend of mine years later and told her that as well as being terrified by all the JW stuff, her parents used to physically abuse her and her siblings (all of whom wanted nothing to do with JW now) Her younger brother moved to Australia because that was literally the farthest place he could go to get away from his parents. Sadly he took his own life a few years ago.
The father died last year and because he been involved in setting up a local men's mental health group a few years ago, was hailed as a 'pillar of the community'.
Not a word was said about all the mental health issues that he'd caused his own children though

I’ve never come across as many people obsessed with class as the users of MN. I think that’s probably down to the demographic supposedly being ‘middle class’ and allegedly more educated (or so they’d like to think even though they’re desperate for reassurance all the time). They were very in competition with Netmums at one point, which was seen to be a bit more lower class and full of huns than MN, although the lines have blurred in recent years.

It makes me laugh how much they look down on trade though. Most tradesmen I know earn an absolute wedge, but the women on MN wouldn’t even deign to let them use the cloakroom toilet in their new build.

Has anyone read the strange things you get embarrassed about thread? I kept telling myself they were individual posts and not a collective group but reading through the entire thread was a collective WTF!
Starts off strong with this humble brag 🙄

It’s a properly baffling MN thread and I’m only two pages in!

The first one is inexcusable for them not to take it down tbh. You’ve got regular midwife contact for the first however many weeks of baby’s life, you don’t need showing twice do you. Absolute shithole allowing that carry on.
You’d think right, but no.

I’ve also seen pseudo-innocent threads (yes, more than one) about how to apply cream to a little girl’s genitals. Obvious pervert. Really vile.

"AIBU to demand my desk back, my co-worker stole it while I was on maternity leave." If you are away for months on end of course someone's going to take your desk! Someone took mine whilst I was on sick leave and I didn't complain about it

I've never understood how what you do or dont do with your bush is anything to do with class??
Something along the lines of 'if you're middleclass, on the rare occasion that you permit your husband to access the heady delights of you sighing and saying ''oh, go on then'', Nigel's supposed to be so grateful he's been allowed to see past the sackcloth shroud and greying M&S rib warming knickers that a mere twenty minutes hacking through the undergrowth like a latter day Indiana Jones after he's had his third compulsory shower before entering the bedroom is all part of his treat''.

The number of threads that say oral sex is a disgusting thing that no decent man would ever admit to liking kind of give it away that sex is still something that is begrudged and solely for the creation of another tall and slim but eats 20,000 calories a day child give it away.
