I want to know why so many of them have builders in their houses all the time. ‘What coffee shall I buy the builder?’, ‘do I say hello to it?’, ‘my builder had the audacity to look at me - should I report him?’ etc. I don’t think I’ve ever once had a builder in my house or even know anyone who has to be honest. Then again I’m not middle or upper class so that might be why!

What amazes me is the Brexit threads. There are about 8 posters who just will not give up the bitterness, slagging off people who just voted differently to them. There is one poster who keeps trying to put her view across who basically just gets bullied continually, and mumsnet does literally nothing about it. Fascinating to watch from a psychological point of view, but not interesting at all from a political point of view.

I just read this thread and I have been in hysterics. What a set of Fanny's. I sometimes read MN for a laugh. It's mental. The whole class thing on there is mind boggling!
I am northern, pit village working class. NO uni degree. Full time job. I love Champagne and expensive chocolates but I also drink pints in the local Club and smash kebabs in my face after. So I take it I am a lower class with a touch of upper class?

No idea but can we be friends?

I really hate the way they instantly jump to "abuse" if a poster's husband does anything wrong. Like the boy who cried wolf, it devalues the concept, potentially undermining real situations because it's become a MN meme.

AnyFucker got her arse handed to her last year when she posted whinging about not being able to visit her holiday cottage due to restrictions. I can’t remember the exact details, but she was then victim of a (well deserved IMO) pile on from lots of newer posters pointing out how privileged she was to even own a second home and telling her that others were having it far worse, she then flounced off but not before various ‘old school’ members of the MN clique came along to berate everyone for attacking a member of the hierarchy who had helped them enormously (probably by being blood rude) in the relationships forum.

Oh you lot make me laugh! so much better than reddit mn trolls... I once posted on aibu about horrible service at a posh shop where I bought my oldest something for her 21st, and they treated us like scum. God the vitriol!! basically because I only spent £120 in posh shop and therefore shouldnt have expected anything like polite service. (Never mind that she got other stuff as well, we had a day out inc lunch in that there London etc etc)

Yes there's always a selection of posters on MN who - irrespective of what you paid for something - will always say well what do you expect for that amount of money? you should have spent 3x that and THEN you could complain.

That said you also always get some smart arse especially on car threads who buys ALL their cars for £500 and they always pass their MOTs and never need any work doing. Yeah, right.

The whole site is full of competitive braggers and one-uppers. I'd say they've all been to Elevenerife except that they'd all turn their noses up at the Canary Islands

This! I’ve had a few good finds from charity shops over the years, but the majority of stuff in the ones near me is crap. Not because the stuff is second hand, but because it’s clearly been worn to death, washed god knows how many times and is threadbare and bobbly. Obviously if you live in London, Manchester, Brighton etc it’s going to be a totally different story though.

Most of the stuff in our charity shops is from Primark/ Asda/ Tesco, and almost same price as it would have been new! Anything from somewhere more expensive - Monsoon, Hobbs etc will be £20 minimum.

I was a student in a very well to do area years ago, the local charity shops and church jumble sales there were brilliant because so many of the locals were super wealthy and gave stuff away barely worn, my best bargain was 30p for an almost new Ralph Lauren shirt. You'd get cocktail dresses and leather bags for £1 at most. Those were the days!

I’m another who loves Benidorm! Yes it’s tacky and rowdy in places, but you don’t have to have that if you don’t want. It’s quieter further out. It’s got lovely clean beaches and the old town is gorgeous. I also really liked Torerremolinos. I’m a complete chav in the eye of mumsnet!

We stay in the old town and rarely venture to the new part. We get on the land train and go down to La Cala too.

Sometimes we eat chips, sometimes tapas, whatever we fancy and I definitely immerse myself in Spanish lager

We usually do 3 weeks a year there, all inclusive. The first year we went our child was 10 and we were going in for food when one of the men who worked there ruffled his hair and spoke to him in Spanish, child got his phrase book out and tried his best to answer. Every day after that, he came to work early and sat at the table next to us with our child on his table and they taught each other Spanish and English. We went back the following year and he was speaking better English and was able to have a conversation with us and our child was able to do the same with him but they carried on with their lessons that holiday too

I love the posts from the disgruntled ones at Christmas who are ‘simply devastated’ that their 15 year old son spent their Christmas money gifted to them on a game, games console etc. rather than on something educational or investing it in the future. They live in another world I’m sure!

Some of the responses are reasonable: "if you really like it wear it" or "would you consider a tight pencil skirt that wasn't from a sex shop?" But this being MN there's a lot less ... gentle comments:

"Everyone will think you're a hooker"
"It will show the world your butthole"
"Why not go the whole hog and wear a rubber suit and mask?"

(Not in those exact words but that's the idea)

There is also a current thread from someone complaining the word "frumpy" is sexist as we don't call men frumpy. And asking others to stop making fun of Boden. Not sure if also a troll but hey, Boden sells clothes for men, feel free to make fun of men who buy it

Normally at least the OP may be batshit but there'll be a decent ratio of sensible to ridiculous from other posters. Not here. So much hand-wringing about creating perfect humans with perfect skin and them destroying it with tattoos...

Never ever discuss tattoos on Mumsnet. Suddenly it turns into the 1950s. People swooning and appalled at a bit of ink. They make you look cheap and nasty, don’t they? Did you know they last FOREVER?

And the old classic - tattoos are so commonplace you stand out more if you DON’T have one. Fnar fnar.

Don’t get me wrong, most people have shit tattoos and there are a lot of shitty tattoo artists out there. But… so what? It’s their choice!
