Haha! A new dress thread folks! I have not noticed Natasha enter the chat just yet but I am sure she can sniff it.

This reply by the OP made me chuckle, she anticipates our reaction here to the usual crowd of overpriced smock pushers

" we waste nothing in this house. We are so privileged living here when so many are starving. DH and I are often in tears at the evening news on the television receiver ( tuned to bbc2 only, all other channels are blanked out ) at the strife in the World.
Son no 1 has a healthy appetite but Son no 2 eats like a bird. The pan of stew on the Solar Halogen Hob has been on the heat for a Fortnight now , simply being topped up with recyclable paper bag fulls of lentil beans and free-range potatoes. "

I just imagine one middle image woman in her Cotswolds cottage wearing a “we are the witches they couldn’t burn” knitted jumper being responsible for who they ban and who they don’t….

What are middle class chocolates? Do they have less calories and sit judging the boxes of Milk Tray on the shelf next to them?

I wonder what the difference is between a chavvy storm and a posh storm? Do the chavvy ones only take out council houses (omg shock horror poors) and the posh ones stately homes (omg dog hair will be EVERYWHERE)?

There was a thread the other day about a couple that apparently couldn’t get their weekly shop under £100, even though they don’t buy booze or fags, (WTF are they buying if there’s only TWO of them and it’s costing £100? Sides of trout and boxes of Ferreo Rocher?!)

Anyway, one of the ‘helpful’ suggestions was to reuse foil. Apparently it’s a game changer, because then you hardly ever have to buy it. HOW are you saving significant amounts on your weekly shop by smoothing out scrunched bits of foil 😂

Surely this article of clothing is what you wear *underneath* your actual winter dress. And the addition of a proper bra and knickers wouldn't go amiss either.

The first two temp bans were for rowing with the terfs on the feminist board and I was reinstated as long as I promised to leave that board alone so they could remain an echo chamber….
Third was an attempted perm ban on a thread that was absolutely riddled with nasty fat phobia. Account reinstated if I promised to read the rules of the site although they didn’t actually tell me what rules I had broken.
Todays random ban was after I started a thread discussing the counter protests in London. It wasn’t even a heated thread tbh but they zapped it and sent me a snotty email saying mumsnet is perhaps not the site for me 🤣
It’s mostly annoying as I post and reply loads on the actual parenting boards especially for SEN kids. There are some outright bullies rampaging on that site but it appears MN are very picky and choosy over what they define as breaking their rules.
There’s a post today conplaint that trans folks are trying to steal a song by the cure. Apparently that’s ok and not stupid or hateful at all.

There are a lot of NHS bashing threads on Mumsnet today.

The porter who made a flippant comment whilst transporting the Mumsnetter to the operating theatre should be hung, drawn, quartered then dragged through the town by her toenails.

Tell PALS! Report her to her line manager! Wankers, the lot of them. Have they never made a poorly judged remark in their lives? I told a friend of mine to put his best foot forward once, completely overlooking the fact he has a below knee amputation on one side. He found it funny (or pretended to) and we are still friends now.
Hell, I work in the NHS and I've -
* Asked a very visually impaired man to sign a piece of paper
* Asked a double amputee if he needed help putting his socks on (he just pulled the bed sheets back)
* Offhand started talking about whacking great brain tumours and how awful they are and their effects in great detail to a colleague who's G'dad had just been diagnosed with a brain tumour (in my defence I didn't know and immediately apologised)

Lucky my trust is so strapped for staff they keep me on, eh

On the subject of MN becoming more bitchy. It started going downhill over the last few years but I definitely noticed a sharp decline in patience and tolerance during covid. It really polarised people on there. There was an awful lot of "I hope you DIE, you thoughtless bitch who went to the shops twice in one day" type stuff.

The Relationships board in particular has suffered. It used to be a very supportive place, especially for women leaving abusive relationships, or just for anyone dealing with general relationship troubles. The adult children of abusive parents threads were incredibly helpful. And in general, while there were a lot of differing viewpoints on things like can men and women be friends, is online dating awful, should I pretend to not notice he's been watching porn, should we have a joint account - people were generally respectful of differing views. Now it's all "So you're in favour of the porn industry DESTROYING WOMEN are you? Clearly you are a man, or a handmaiden" and "Why haven't you left yet OP? Social services will probably remove your children because you posted last night at 11.45pm that your husband had called you a cunt and yet here we are at 8am and you're still there, exposing your children to trauma"

I've have to be honest... I'm only here via MN and a Tattle code. I discovered Tattle because I started seeing posts over there slagging off this site and saying how awful it was so I assumed that it must be the polar opposite to MN. Of course it is and that's why I love it here and I've already posted here probably 10 times more than I've ever posted over on the dark side! Having said that I genuinely really enjoy a massive salad and always have done so I'm fully expecting to be kicked off here ASAP...

This is so simple but really made me laugh

OP: I've been with my boyfriend 3 years
First reply: Well how long have you been with your boyfriend? I can't possibly give you any advice if you don't share that bit of information
