God yes. They are also so snobby about places like Primark, when for a lot of people it’s all they can afford. They’d hate me as most of my clothes comes from there, Shein, New Look, F&F@Tesco, George@Asda etc. Ideally I’d love to shop more sustainably but just can’t justify the cost! You’ll see a thread from someone asking where they should get nice work clothes from and they’ll say Mint Velvet (I’m sure MN has shares in that place as they recommend if so often) or Jaegar, but those places are so bleeping expensive and out of the range of most normal people. They really have no clue. The financial privilege is off the scale, and yes I agree that they are nearly always frumpy as hell when you see the photos of them.

Abolutely. I could never justify Jaeger/Whistles/etc. and I know for a fact I'm still better dressed than the lot of them in my New Look.

Yes, they are. They‘ll put up a photo of themselves, usually looking like a frumpy dinner lady on a day trip to the seaside and everyone wilo tell them how pretty they are.
I think a lot of it is image projection/maintenance from them, like they may not necessarily shop in these places or have these incomes but they perceive themselves as either worthy of it or coming close to it so chat like they are? We’ve all met people like that in real life who use broad brushstrokes to conjure up alternate realities - like “went to uni in Cambridge” isn’t actually Cambridge tho is it hun, or “works in investment banking” but is trade support lol. Or my fav is “is a company director” like it’s a stunt and not something anyone could say for the £40 reg fee 
Also I refuse to believe anyone who’s actually bought clothes from Whistles would recommend them, the quality is appalling I actually have primark PJs I’ve worn for actual years and stretched out through a pregnancy that have lasted longer than >£100 dresses and (wool) coats from them. The cut of a lot of things is off too. The only good thing is their leather jackets & the little clutch zippy things for your bag?

They always sneer at Primark, B & M and shops like that and say how bad they are for the environment but like other people, I've got lots of Primark items from at least 8 years ago and they still look great whereas I bought a Top from M & S and it looked wrecked after just one wear. Plus I love Primark PJs.

This sustainability thing is definitely emporer’s new clothes situ, they’re all being sold far more expensive clothing under the green washed guise of sustainability, when really the most sustainable thing to do is *not* buy clothes, don’t buy into trends, make old clothes last through care & repair, and buy second hand where possible. Fair wages for garment workers is a legit thing but a recent study showed that prices only need to rise by something teeny like 1% to allow brands to pay their workers fairly, you don’t need to buy the Insta “buffet dresses” to make an ethical choice. This sort of scorning doesn’t endear anyone to the cause, it’s all about being better than someone else it’s just pathetic!
And scared of becoming one of them but have clothes from nicer places than Whistles lol and I wouldn’t say that I bought them for the quality or was particularly
wowed by it? It’s like everything from the perfect Cherry tomato to a bag of fish and chips you judge each thing on its own merits and you can find absolute gems in the weirdest of places? How boring it must be to be defined by ur class aspirations / an image you want to project !!

There’s no way to say this without sounding like a witch but if you’re not capable of finding boots you like then chances are you have no style so shouldn’t commit hundreds on a pair? I just had a look at some of the threads from this year. There isn't a well dressed one among them. We shop in all the same places. I love Primark for me and the kids. I also look a lot more fashionable than 90% of the frumpy mums I meet, who appear to have kids and then start shopping exclusively in Jules, large Face and white stuff.
Just had a nosey at the what you wearing thread. I actually underestimated how dull, frumpy and unfashionable they are.
I am bias because I'm still a bit punk at heart, but do you really need to dress like your gran in your 30s because your a mum now.
