Yes I also got that impression , it wasn't exactly subtle .

Everything there is about extremes no middle ground whatsoever.

Fighting and shutting down people who don't agree with them

It's so toxic.

Found it thank you. It seems like the landlord doesn’t like drinkers maybe time for a new profession. It just sounds like they were a bit giddy and went a bit overboard at the start to me.

Why didn’t the husband just ask the landlord for a recommendation. Most pubs are more than happy to give a small sample before buying a full pint & I’m sure any landlord will have seen people in a worse state than drinking one bottle of Prosecco over the course of the night. God I’d hate it if my landlord passed comment on some of the nights me and my girlfriends have been in the pub (although we are all a good bunch and never cause any fuss or drama just giggle and chat).

That was my thread!

I was 9 months pregnant and very unwell at the time, on medication that gave me a horrendous stomach. My other half went to pick up his kids from school and bring them here for tea - he didn't bother to take his keys despite knowing I ALWAYS lock the door regardless of what I'm doing or where I am in the flat because I'm in S.E London in a bad area and have been burgled during the day before. Anyway he was gone an hour and they just so happened to arrive back when I was on the toilet. I couldn't exactly leave the bathroom given the urgency of why I was in there so he had to wait 10 mins with his kids until I was out of the loo.

I got absolutely slaughtered on there by people telling me I needed to change my attitude toward my step children and that I was ridiculous for locking my door.

People on MN never answer their door! You aren’t allowed to visit their new babies, regardless of your relationship to the family, you’ve to wait til the kids about 6 before you can see them, all gifts are tat, everyone is a ‘narc’ and they all suffer from MH issues, mostly anxiety…that just about covers every post on it!

My theory is that Bluntness and possibly some of the other well known posters who get away with murder, work for MN / are mods on another account.

That's the only reason I can think of why such awfulness is tolerated meanwhile other posters are kicked off and banned for the most ridiculous of things.

You're not allowed to visit their new babies but they complain and 'go nc' if you don't

Surely the majority of houses have doors that at least single lock behind you now anyway so everyone should be taking their keys out?! I haven’t had a door you could leave unlocked* since I lived in a shithole second year uni rental that hadn’t been touched since the 70s!

*unless you put it on latch and at that point it’s basically just left open?

Then there‘s all the ‘I agree with AF’ that’s after 100 people have all said exactly the same thing, some eejit comes along with the ‘I agree with AF’ as if she’s the Queen Bee and they want to be in her inner circle!

So true
Also,
All men are abusers but if a woman does anything out of order it's not their fault and somehow the mans.
All kids seem to have adhd or autism.

HarryToby - you’ve just reminded me of the one time I was foolish enough to start an advice thread!

I remember posting about some concerns I had about my 6yo being unable to entertain herself at home. I was really perplexed by this, because no child I’d ever encountered before was so resistant to sitting down with a toy or a puzzle or some colouring pencils and just getting on with it. I wondered if anyone else had a child like this and what did they do about it?

Someone piped up: did I take her to the park often?

To this day I do not know why that question was relevant to my dilemma.

I replied no, not really. My then-toddler was a total disaster in parks and had to be closely followed to make sure he didn’t seriously injure himself falling off a slide/walking in front of swings etc. Which meant that my older child got neglected and would stand there screaming at me to push her on the swings when I physically couldn’t. I said I found it FAR too stressful and basically couldn’t supervise two kids at the park by myself.

I got slaughtered. A massive pile on started. Post after post berating me for not taking my kids to the park. What was wrong with me, making excuses like that? Did I need help with my anxiety issues or something? It’s no wonder my child couldn’t sit down and amuse herself with toys or crafts if I didn’t take her to play outside!

I was made to feel like the shittiest parent on the planet. They spotted a chink in my armour and just attacked. I changed my username and never went back to the thread. To this day I don’t even understand how taking my kids to the park was supposed to be the answer to all my problems.

And guess what? Both of my kids were diagnosed with autism several years later. The toddler with no sense of danger? Autistic. The 6yo who couldn’t play by herself? Autistic. I wasn’t a shit parent. It wasn’t my fault.

They love Any Fucker. She’s a rude, blunt, arsey twat but I think she gets away with it because she’s one of the well known ones. She had a thread during lockdown asking if it was ok to go to her holiday home because she was fed up. Anyone else would have got a pasting, but there were loads telling her it was ok because she’s AF and deserves a holiday because of all the good advice she’s given on MN.

They’re all wankers looking for an online scrap because I think a lot of them wouldn’t dare say boo to a goose in real life. I once had an argument with someone on there about how I could have prevented my daughter developing T1 diabetes. You can’t, and if you could or there’s any known advice, I would have followed it to the letter, but that poster was adamant that in my position, she would have done everything she could to stop her child getting it (but couldn’t actually tell me what that would be. Just that she would have done it).

Absolute cunts aren't they. I have flounced from several threads because the pile on just got too much. Regrettably I spent a sizable amount of time on the website when I was at my most vulnerable, navigating parenthood with a (then undiagnosed) autistic toddler and not having anybody to talk to IRL.

I can totally relate to park trips being overwhelming too. Absolute hell on earth with my eldest who is now 4 and finally diagnosed. The relief you feel when you know there's a 'reason' it all gets too much is immense isn't it? FWIW I'm yet to meet one shit SN parent. We're bloody superhuman if you ask me (but yes I'm biased )

Something that annoys me, when someone asks for activities to keep toddler busy, 99% of people always say a walk in the park and then snuggle up ( always snuggle up) to watch a movie- not sure what world they live in, but my toddler doesn’t sit through a film! I can barely get her to sit and watch an episode of peppa pig!

I remember when she got banned and there were multiple threads asking why. I think Mumsnet did one giving reasons why they had banned her but she was reinstated.

I really feel sorry for some of them, they think...
(1) "Are you on GLUE ?" is the hight of comedy, this saying was around in my school years, and an in joke in Alan Partridge.

(2) "Pull your big girl pants up" when somebody is genuinely asking for help in an awful situation. It's awful advice.

(3) "Give your head a wobble" yep Mumsnet please do this because it's one of the worst phases l've ever heard.

(4) Their are some really hatefull posters on your site, many who l think are sockpuppets.

Other than that it's all good
