Just discovered AIBU thread.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I IS DEAD
Oh the dramas they have! ‘Should I not be as kind and generous as usual and not give my foreign cleaner her annual box of chocolates as my Christmas gift/bonus this year seeing as though she left two minutes early for her shift in June?’

When I found out I was pregnant and went to my booking in appointment with the midwife as I was leaving she said ‘what ever you do STAY AWAY FROM MUMSNET’.

to be fair the AIBU board is hilarious most of the time, just not in the way they think it is

Funny how lots of them look down at anyone that likes video games, but they enjoy creating a fake persona on message boards to gloat to strangers as a hobby?

I think the scariest threads are the ones relating to weight and food.

Apart from the ubiquitous 'People have lost sight of what a healthy weight looks like' and 'I'd be full after a quarter slice of bread and couldn't possibly manage supper' comments, if you accidentally find your way on to the weightloss boards, you'll find things like the Intermittent Fasting topic, where there is a thread of women cheering one another on for not eating from Monday morning until Friday evening, recommending they only have water in that time because a splash of milk in coffee will be utter failure and saying they restrict to 800 calories on the days they 'crumble' and eat something. So that means that somebody is getting encouragement to consume less than one day's BMR, never mind TDEE, in an entire week (and of course they exercise throughout as well).

It's fucking dangerous. Id say there's a significant element of it being an unmoderated pro-ANA board in all but name.

I don't get how they can say they only spend £50 per "DC". What can you actually get for that money? I got my little girl a barbie and a board game and that was about £50. That's just two presents.
That two presents too many. Just sit her down on Christmas day and tell her about poor people, homeless people, orphans etc. Children these days are so spoilt, when I was a kid do you know what I got? An orange. That's it. And I had to save half for my birthday.

My favourite thing on Mumsnet is "think x"

"DS has been accepted to a very old, prestigious university in the south of England. An enormous number of politicians went there. Can't say the name, but think Cambridge."

"Thinking of moving to an English-speaking country in the southern hemisphere where they play cricket and rugby and have unusual animals. Don't want to give too much information as would be outing. Think New Zealand."

"DH has taken up a new hobby. Plays with a team of other men, chasing a ball around a pitch. Think rugby."
Oh god I hate the ‘hobby’ stuff. Why all the secrecy around it? Unless it something really unusual it’s unlikely to identify them is it? Why not just say ‘DH plays football/cycles/runs/plays cricket insert here. It’s so pretentious and makes them feel as though they’re more important than they actually are.

‘Strapping rugby player’ ‘county netball’ =insecure internet fantasists 🤣
EVERY hun on there seems to have a strapping 6 foot 4 rugby playing teen DS that wolfs down the contents of the fridge and all the homemade crusty bread with lashings of real butter available

This is one of my favourite tradesmen stories from MN from a thread where they all tried to outdo themselves over incidents where a tradesman dared to talk to the lady of the house instead of tugging their forelock. I think we can safely change the end line to ‘there is no way this encounter happened’.

"AIBU: DH has said he wants to join his friends and play football once a week at the leisure centre"

"OP I am furious for you! How dare he have a couple of hours with his mates and spend maybe £10 of precious family money on himself? Get your ducks in a row and LTB"

"OP is it really football? Sounds to me like he's having an affair. Get to your mums house right away"

"What right does he have to do this? Doesn't he know that anything other than work time must be family time? Does he not want to spend all his time with you?"

"Be careful. He may meet some new friends with working class names such as Dave or Trev. Some of them may even be (shock horror) tradesmen"

And then bring them down at 00:01 Boxing Day
There was one who posted on Christmas day that she had ripped down all the decorations and threw the Christmas tree in the bin straight after lunch and didn't understand why her kids were upset because "after all, Christmas is over once lunch is served".

Can't remember if it was last year or the year before. But I do remember thinking that she was a joyless cow and trying to be cool end edgy on there.

There’s a thread on there atm about someone who doesn’t want the childminder to give her 14 month old any sugary treats. Which is fine. But then goes onto say her kid was happy eating raspberries while all the adults stood around eating the kids birthday cake. Poor little bugger didn’t even get any of her own cake! Why buy one in the first place?! Obviously everyone’s rushing on to outdo the OP with tales of how their kid has never touched sugar in any form and now only eats raw horse meat and grass as a teenager out of choice.

I tried to join a handful of times and even on my nicest behaviour I never felt safe or even welcome there and left after a few hours which as a young mum of 4 was really disappointing. I would have really benefitted from a community like that but it was so aggressive and snarky for no apparent reason. I also really struggled to find other pregnant women or mums with young children to talk to!! Most people had teens, adult children or were even grandparents and had no interest in what my cervix was doing. Sad times 🤣
The irony is Tattle is always mentioned on there as being a ‘nasty’ website full of nasty people, but everyone on here seems far less vicious than the #be kind crew on Mumsnet…

I've been looking through the "To ask what your bedroom looks like" thread where they're posting photos of their bedrooms and I love these sort of threads because along with the "Show us your xmas tree" ones they just show how hilariously bad taste the majority of posters on Mumsnet have. Purple walls, yellow bed sheets, all Ikea. Totally the opposite of what you'd expect of a £100k earner who lives in a listed cottage very rurally would decorate their house with. I honestly think they all just spout bullshit

Oh I love the emails! They’re full of ‘hithertos’ (sp) and such like…and that’s to their neighbour who had a BBQ while op had their washing out!!
They advise messaging best friends of decades things like dear Lisa, I regret to inform you that I shall be unable to transport yourself and your children to our weekly shared activity with myself and my offspring. Unfortunately I have a pressing prior engagement of the medical appointment variety, and thusly cannot collect you as the timings do not permit such a diversion. I hope you understand. Best, Diane.

You need to visit the MIL thread here
My mother in law is so bad I think I'd be bullied on here for lying if I was to genuinely 100% be honest about the things she's done to my family and I.
I'd legit be scared to even anonymously tell anyone the lengths she's gone too as people would be like, "Oh look, that's the lying troll again" and I wouldn't even need to exaggerate mildly.
It's so bad I've considered writing a book but it's so unbelievable 🤣🤣
I lost a baby this year about 12 weeks in, the night I was in hosptial having surgery she sent a video of herself dancing in a see through negligee to my fella.
He hasn't seen her for about 4 and a half years, but as soon as she found out I was in surgery, that was what she chose to do.
Doctors literally told my fella if they didn't operate ASAP my tube might bleed into my womb and she sent a video of herself fucking dancing.
Now, that isn't even a BLEMISH on the stuff she's done, but it's one of her more recent, "WTAF".

Sorry to derail lads x
