She...sold her light bulbs? She sold them? She genuinely thought that was a good idea? And there was another person who bought them? In real life? In the world I have to live in with them? Just walking around, allowed to vote? OK. I would like the see the diagram where people who sell their lightbulbs intersects with people who stop at the top of escalators, because I bet there's a huge overlap there.

She sold her lightbulbs so she didn't accidentally turn them on . Sold her sons shoes also and lived two winters without being able to put her heating on. Meanwhile maintained a good relationship with the father of her child and her well off landlord parents who lived nearby and presumably did nothing

But the last thing she sold was her professional photography equipment (because that's more important than heating or light), and she chose to sell it for 10% of what it was worth after holding on for it for so long. But a few years later when she was selling her own prints for £18 she was able to heal the hole in her heart from selling the photography stuff.

I remember when Jack Monroe was first in tbe public eye and I knew instantly she was full of tit (as I'm sure anyone who has lived in actual poverty in any form can tell) and was amazed that the public bought her bull, particularly as she lacks any ability to actually cook. The idea that someone would give up a £30k+ plus job (that her dad got her) to have a baby with someone she was allegedly on good terms with but who wasn't contributing anything financially or in terms of childcare, to live on a tenner a week, despite having wealthy parents. Pull the other one petal.

She's a textbook personality disorder.

The green party announced with a big fanfare when Jack left Labour to join them. Is there anyone left to vote for? If they were so willing to believe this obvious poverty cosplay then they don't give much confidence.

Not only should MPs have to declare their financial interests, but those of the generations above them on both sides (husband and wife or wife and wife etc).

Jack’s dad inherited a rental property and the money from the sale of a LOT of others from her big time landlord grandad. This is all public domain info that costs £1.50 processing fees to access, the properties would have been sold in 2012 or later when he passed so it would be very easy for anyone with the time to estimate how much cash those properties generated so how much each child of the grandad would have received, it’s easily in excess of a million just by the sheer volume of properties involved. Why no one has done this very basic level of interrogation is beyond me. Edwina Curry did back in the day in fairness.

Especially with intergenerational wealth / inheritance meaning more to someone’s financial standing than their own income, it’s madness this isn’t declared.

I was reading a thread the other day about a mum who was perturbed that her husband wanted to bugger off to an overseas wedding for 4-5 days, leaving her with a (not yet born) two weekold baby and a three year old. AND she was having a c section AND it wasn’t a close friend.

I just knew that the thread would soon descend into a Four Yorkshireman style competitive misfortune thread. I wasn’t disappointed. Plenty of terse comments along the lines of “well what makes you think you won’t manage?” and “single parents have no choice!” but the best ones were like “I had to look after seven kids under five while my husband worked away Monday-Friday and I had no other family or friends within a 1500mile radius to lend a hand so suck it up you bleeping wimp”.

Thankfully, there were some voices of sanity who said “Somehow I don’t think your husband would like it if you disappeared on a non-essential jolly abroad, leaving him with a newborn, a three year old, and recent major abdominal surgery”.

The tit women are expected to put up with, honestly…

Husband gets up at 745 to start work at 9, child 1 gets up at 745 to leave for school at 840 and child 2 gets up for school run at 820. She didn't say why time she gets up but was utterly shocked that people had a moan at her for driving 5 minutes to school and then spend 15 minutes looking for a parking space rather than a 20 minute walk each way

There’s a thread on there atm about someone who doesn’t want the childminder to give her 14 month old any sugary treats. Which is fine. But then goes onto say her kid was happy eating raspberries while all the adults stood around eating the kids birthday cake. Poor little bugger didn’t even get any of her own cake! Why buy one in the first place?! Obviously everyone’s rushing on to outdo the OP with tales of how their kid has never touched sugar in any form and now only eats raw horse meat and grass as a teenager out of choice.
