O! I had been meaning to ask has anyone seen that enormous thread in S&B called clothing brands and target demographics?
It is literally oozing with class fetishisation, a sort of intellectual one-upmanship where the majority of posters (naturally) claim to sit at the more affluent end of the scale, taking passive aggressive little pokes at those with less taste and disposable income for astonishingly overpriced clothing. It is all clouded in academic frippery, of course, so that on the surface we can pretend that it isn't about status and class at all.

The username NatashaDancing is worth a mention, as most of her posts are condescending and unashamedly self aggrandising. She takes pains to remind people on every page just how utterly affluent and posh she is, making curt little digs at anyone who questions the theme of the thread. I've seen her about on S&B in the past, she has to be one of the most sickeningly vacuous, self satisfied harpies on the site. I will conclude from this that she is just another wannabee with a slight amount of disposable to throw around. I was previously enjoying the chat on that thread until she elbowed her way into it, along with botemp (I forget the name) and co, airing their unparalleled, educated judgements across a plethora of upmarket, obscure and dizzyingly unaffordable clothing brands. I do believe they have far too much time on their hands.

I would love to see these idiots on the 'wearing it today' thread.
That thread is hilarious. The clothes they post are, without exception, absolutely hideous. I wouldn’t pay £50 to look like that, much less £500. They all look like Grayson Perry meets Asylum chic. Smug, self-satisfied fools, the lot of ‘em.

Have you seen the thread where an Evil DH gives the kids... shudder.... Rice Crispies for breakfast?

Cue the usual MN bonkerishness about food: "What grown adult would eat Rice Crispies for breakfast?? I try not to give my kids crappy foods that I wouldn't eat myself. "

I could write the thread myself without even looking:

It will go - "Why don't you give them:

Porridge with berries
Greek yoghurt with berries
Peanut butter on slices of apple
A couple of eggs on toast, preferably with some berries" etc etc

Now while those ARE probably better options for a kid's breakfast than cereal, the way they're all pretending it's absolutely BIZARRE to have cereal for breakfast and that no normal parent would ever dream of slapping some cereal into a bowl for the kids at 8am, still less any adult eating the stuff themselves, is very amusing.

Dear fkin god!
Ooh that’s a bit disturbing. She doesn’t want her adult children socialising with their aunt unless it includes her? Hasn’t anyone told her that her children aren’t her property and she can’t dictate how they spend their free time or who they see?

And even today Im told they’re at it on Tattle with their new MN thread being called ‘A Handhold Please’.

This bit is so weird and really stuck out when I saw it yesterday. Who told her about the comments on tattle? Why were they reporting back to her about it when she's apparently so sad that a long lost family member has died and the mum is supposedly being trolled online. If that was happening to someone I knew, I certainly wouldn't be pointing out a tattle thread to them

I don't know if that makes any sense or not but I know what I'm trying to say:LOL:

*how to look like you’ve been in jail since 2009, uno when any of those things were last fashionable
Oof I feel slightly insulted. I skinny jeans, converse and oversized jumpers 🙈 but I do it to be comfy not a young style icon. Someone on the thread about tattle said we must all be very young 🥰 she's my favourite.

It's competition time with.....
How Big Is Your House.
Yes folks, it's finger on the buzzer time as we find the biggest home amongst the competitive mumsnetter.
Will it be Erica in her 5 bedroomed Edwardian terrace house?
Maybe Delia in her 4 bedroomed detached in the leafy suburbs?
Perhaps Felicia in her 6 bedroomed rural farmhouse?
Or will Caroline steal the show with her 3 bedroomed council semi?
Who knows? Who cares?

I had to look it up coz I thought it came from llamas or unicorns or something. It’s just wool from a merino sheep but apparently it’s better than normal sheep wool (not that I’d know personally coz all my clothes are 100% polyester, baby!)
My son gave me a bundle of clothes to take to the charity shop, I always check them first to make sure that they're clean and that's when I spotted a merino wool jumper in the bag. My son isn't much bigger than me, so the jumper fitted me quite well. It's quite nice, but nothing special, I personally can't see what the fuss is about. Mind you, I think it's supposed to be hand washed in the lukewarm tears of a virgin or whatever, but I just chuck it in the machine with a Bold pod. 🤷

Wouldn’t she be referring to a couple of threads ago? Didn’t it have Claire or clairley in the title?

"And even today Im told they’re at it on Tattle with their new MN thread being called ‘A Handhold Please’. It’s a ref to my cousins first thread when she was traveling to the UK."

I'm fully prepared to be told I'm some kind of disgusting heathen and need to get in the bin, but do people actually wash their arsehole regularly through the day? I have a shower every evening and have a good clean, but some of them are saying that they have all sorts of different bum cloths/washing facilities. One of them said they keep a flannel in a ziplock bag or a lunchbox. Another one's husband uses a squirty water bottle at work. Is this a thing I should have been doing!?

A friend of mine is a colorectal surgeon and says he always knows patients who wash their botty as a practice. Apparently wiping with toilet roll just smears a film of excrement across your arse, no matter how well you think you've done it. He uses a hand held bidet (aka bum gun) and says it is very good for the anus and if you've got piles cold water is particularly good at shrinking them 🤢
Wouldn’t you wash your arse before going to see a colorectal surgeon though?

Not to get all mumsnet but not doing so seems a bit grim.

In a previous workplace I had to introduce myself by listing my favourite hobbies in a company wide news bulletin. Panicked and wanged on about going hiking with my dog (absolute fucking news to my lazy mutt). Then lived in fear of anyone asking me questions about my made up hobby for the three years I worked there.

No-one cares. Ask sensible questions such as how I take my tea or coffee. That's more useful than listing my actual hobbies (reading and hanging out on Tattle, thanks for asking).
