It cracks me up how they describe outfits on the style and beauty forum, it's like how food is described on an M&S advert.

One doesn't just wear a blue jumper with mom jeans and boots. No no, it's an oversized royal blue merino wool jumper with batwing sleeves from Toast, 'paired with' cropped high waisted kick flare washed black jeans with the hems turned up from Cos, and chunky black buckled boots from fucking Solovair. It's like they think the description makes it sound so FASHUN but when you see the outfit pic it looks like they rummaged through a jumble sale.

I have never, in my entire life, looked at anyone’s shoes and said “Ooh, look at your little shoes!”. What a bizarre thing to claim 😂

Just want to add a personal anecdote to show how I feel about people who say they look young… it was my 24th birthday and without asking for anyone to guess my age I received the following guesses:
30 (twice) - including someone chasing me down the work hallway to ask if the birthday balloons were mine (I said “do they say 30 on them?” He said yes, I said “then they’re not mine.”)
34
And then someone told me I’d “been 24 for a while now”

evidently mine was one of the harder paper rounds….

"Easter Eggs and Ramadan" could be a good'un - a (possibly imaginary) teacher wondering what to do about the Muslim kids in her class, as she's going to give the others a 'small easter egg' at the end of term. (It's a pointless or maybe even a goady Q anyway as it's not like Muslims don't eat AT ALL in Ramadan

Cue lots of joyless thundering: WHO GIVES KIDS CHOCOLATE THESE DAYS! mine will be over the moon with a carrot and two plums!

"So “treating” strangers’ children with disgusting junk is OK? Is this really a treat for children or a cheap feel-good stunt for the adult?

As a rule, people should not be feeding random children junk, unless they’ve checked with the parents. I don’t even offer a Babybel or a homemade shortbread biscuit unless I’ve checked with the parent. "

I liked the little touch of the 'home-made' shortbread biscuit. Cos, like, shop biscuits are disgusting junk.

:ROFLMAO: Dior "New Look" was the collection released by Christian Dior in the late 40s, she just means a really full circle skirt. The shop New Look are having a laugh by naming themselves after that style history turning point.

I am not even slightly well dressed and all of mumsnet are welcome to look down their affluent noses at me.

This is Dior's New Look....I went to the V&A exhibition 4 years ago...it was absolutely incredible and soooo many beautiful dresses.....not that I have the lifestyle to wear them!

An entire square, so greedy. My treat is just sniffing the wrapper more than enough to last me a month.
You actually purchase the product? What a fat povvo! My strapping DS1 explains the concept of chocolate to me in between his rugby training and medical college, and I’m satiated enough from that.

I'm fully prepared to be told I'm some kind of disgusting heathen and need to get in the bin, but do people actually wash their arsehole regularly through the day? I have a shower every evening and have a good clean, but some of them are saying that they have all sorts of different bum cloths/washing facilities. One of them said they keep a flannel in a ziplock bag or a lunchbox. Another one's husband uses a squirty water bottle at work. Is this a thing I should have been doing!?
They probably shit more than the average person because of all the massive salads they’re eating.

‘Handhold please’ has 411 results for a thread title. That doesn’t include the many that get deleted for privacy concerns or because they’re trolls.

Not everything is about Clurrrr.

WTF? I’m with her husband on this, I naively assumed she’d realised she’d had her purse stolen or something like that and that he complained about her making a show of herself as they were in a quiet museum. I do hope people told her she was being ridiculous but as it’s MN it’s not a given
I have to say that I’m on DH’s side here. Fortunately most replies were of the “WTF?” variety.

On that carby carb thread I did like the irony of the poster who said cut out the oats, carbs, insulin, i can’t eat oats because they insulin blah blah.
I just have yoghurt and granola.

then someone else pointed out that granola is mainly oats 😂

When one of my kids was at primary school (Ofsted rated outstanding - this is relevant) the headteacher was OBSESSED with healthy lunchboxes, to the point where the dinner ladies patrolled the dining room checking no one had chocolate or sweets in their lunchboxes. My son even had a piece of cake (homemade 🤣) taken off him because he got it out of his box at break time and wasn’t given it back. We were regularly sent letters about what they were and weren’t allowed so no sneaky slipping of last nights pizza into kids lunches was allowed.

Meanwhile, the teaching standards and other stuff had slipped so much that the next time they had an inspection, it was put into the lowest category possible. But at least all the lunchboxes were full of lettuce and hummus and misery.

There is a thread in aibu where a poster says her partner of 9 years has received a wedding invitation (from a couple they both know) and she’s not invited, she is asking if this is usual/how people would feel.
The usual replies are flying in
‘I wouldn’t care’
‘Their wedding, their rules’
‘You sound entitled’
‘This is fine if you aren’t married’
My favourite post was someone saying recently her husband and one of her three kids was invited to a family wedding and her response was ‘didn’t bother me, lovely couple, it’s their wedding, I’m delighted for them’
…so 3/5 of your family were excluded from a wedding invitation, someone chose ONE of your children to invite and not the others, and you’re ‘happy’? Trying too hard to be cool I think, gone just too far!!

I just the 'what does your easter Sunday look like' thread. One poster is setting up an Easter egg hunt in the garden for her dc in the morning. All lovely. But then I read on and the 'children' are 18 and 16. I could just see my kids faces at that age at the mere suggestion. They wouldn't be rolling (pardon the pun) out of bed until the afternoon, let alone rubbing their hands with glee at early morning egg hunt.
