I saw at least two threads on chat about how they don't get the fuss over Happy Valley...
Now what I don't get is that there are many manu popular shows that aren't to my taste so I don't watch them and move on with my life. What makes someone think well *I* don't like this show and so I am going to take up my time creating a thread about it and talking about something I don't particularly like. Honestly it's a wonder they have the time what with their six figure jobs. Maybe that's why they all have cleaners and nannies, so they can spend time on MN.
There was one of them yesterday who said she much preferred some American rit with Kate Winslet doing the same tit American accent she’s been doing since Titanic. Then someone pipes up to say it was based on HV😂.

Really ghoulish thread on there today about the deaths of a head teacher, her husband and daughter, at Epsom College in Surrey. The armchair detectives are already sifting through the evidence and coming to their conclusions, with no thought to the heartbreak and shock those close to the family must be experiencing.
I don't know how that lot haven't been snapped up by Scotland Yard.
I bet they win every time at cluedo before they've even got round the board.

I’ve not seen Happy Valley but Mare of Easttown is anything but rit! I’m pretty sure it’s not based on HV though.

I also really enjoyed Mare of Easttown and it may not have been intentionally based on Happy Valley, but there’s a lot of similarities between the two and I’ll never believe that whoever wrote MoE wasn’t heavily influenced by HV. Happy Valley was first though and superior imo. They all hate Kate Winslet on MN though (FWIW I think she a bit of a luvvy but she’s a brilliant actress).

They’re like a bunch of old crones knitting at the guillotine.
It's the same group of people posting on the missing woman Nicola Bulley thread. It seems sadly obvious the woman went into the river and was washed out to sea, but the Mumsnet Detective Agency think her husband did away with her and are urging the police to check the house, his phone records, his recent shopping purchases. It's not a bleeping episode of Vera, this is a real person, with a family and friends who are devastated and heartbroken.

Has anyone seen the thread ‘aibu for expecting boyfriends baby mum to have her child when she’s paid to do so’
Had to stop reading after the first couple of pages, they really are a vile bunch of witches. The post itself isn’t very nice but comments like ‘why are you having a baby’ and ‘benefits aren’t that high’ that completely miss the point and insult the poster instead really boil my piss

They all honestly think they can do a better job. Countless threads trashing the police, police should do this and that, but funnily enough none of them follow through and join up.

do they honestly think these are all utterly original ideas that the police, what with being trained investigators, simply haven’t thought of 🙄

Exactly.
I haven't read the thread but it's shocking that such people can't or won't even try to imagine, for a millisecond, what it must be like to have your world turned upside down, just like that, and how devastated her family must be.

I wouldn’t worry too much about your own bf, the thread is probably complete fantasy anyway 🤣

That thread reads like the synopsis of a chick lit novella. A really tit one. With lots of exclamation marks!!!!!!!!
