Yikes! She needs to fire her plastic surgeon. I remember seeing a photo of her from a while ago and thinking she looked meh, but now ugh, she's lost any shred of what made her original or memorable. Now she just looks like everybody else on Instagram. Also, Storm Models lists her at 5'6"... lolololol unless she just looks short in every photo (not really a quality you want in a model...), I will eat my hat if she doesn't barely clear 5'2".
Celeb spawns need to go away and that includes model spawns. Being model worthy or having the it factor is not hereditary and most of these girls are too commercial, too short, don't have the right body shape or look to be a real model. I have no issues with them being social media influencers and making money from that, but to take actual jobs away from deserving models who probably need the gig way more is just unfortunate. Also way too many of these celeb/model spawns have crazy plastic surgery at such an early age and it's honestly a terrible influence for the young women who follow them.

@meowmeowbeans I also agree she's very short and definitely NOT 5'6, which is just under below Kate's height of 5'7. No one whose 5'6, which is already on the taller end for a normal woman, would have proportions like this. The lying and nepotism is strong here.

Kaia Gerber is clearly an attractive girl but not fashion model material to me. Her features are not in proportion. Never got the hype about her mum either.

There were those pap photos which captured her dropping a bag of white powder whilst entering her house in the morning, so you're definitely right there!
I remember those pics! It didn’t come as a shock to me at the time, as I said in my previous post I’d seen her & Poppy (her sis) happily snorting away in Proud Galleries loos at least twice (at one point they didn’t even close the door to the stall, it was like they wanted someone to take a photo) and I’d heard rumblings of it at work well before that, too. All probably about two years before those photos came out.

I have a hard time believing that a reputable modeling agency would fudge their model's numbers by more than an inch. What happens when a model that the client thought was 5'10" shows up to a shoot or fitting, and she's only 5'8"? It could ruin the look they are trying to achieve, or worse, she can't fit into the clothes, and that damages the relationship with the agency. Maybe there is an unspoken agreement regarding insta-models that they all come shorter than advertised, but generally, it seems like too much of a risk.
They honestly do, or at least they did when I worked in the industry. I never had any experience with Instagram models because I worked in the industry pre-Instagram. I did work with several big names and none of them were particularly tall.

What I think people don’t really understand is that unless they’re modelling couture or something that’s being made specifically for them, a model’s measurements are not routinely taken.

Fittings are more about who looks best in what, not oh let’s check what height and size this girl is to check if the agency lied. One of the reasons models are pressured to be so thin is so they can effortlessly slip into sample sizes and have them pinned or altered to fit better. Height doesn’t come into that nearly as much as hip size or bust size does.

I appreciate that, as been said on this thread, some designers have catwalk height limits now, and I can well believe agencies are stricter now in light of that, but I am not convinced they are as strict as some claim. In my experience, “tall enough” is fine, and everyone expected agencies to fudge details on cards, so no-one put huge stock into them.

I also want to point out that agencies and model agents are essentially sales people, they absolutely do fudge the truth knowing they can get away with it, they can be extremely pushy and they’ll also do sneaky things with any client where they believe they can get away with it. I’ll give some examples:

- sending girls to a casting that weren’t actually requested because they know they won’t be turned away
- booking castings or even tests with a girl who you’re told is within shoot budget, but then when it comes to booking you’re told they’re more expensive than initially agreed
- the hype machine where they’ll attempt to play clients off against each other by mentioning “oh so and so brand were wanting this girl but you could quickly see her”

I do think that with the rise of the fandom of models via social media, especially with Victoria’s Secret, there is this weird core of fandom who mythologise everything about models and seem particularly obsessed by height.

Kate Moss and Cara D are both obvious examples of being uber successful despite a surprisingly short height, and yes they are probably outliers since they’re both much shorter than other models. But genuinely, a lot of the girls who claim 5’10 are 5’8.5 at best. It could be sloppy measurements or it could be outright lies, I don’t know, but I say this as someone with friends who are model agents - they will do whatever they can to procure both big paying and big exposure/highly thought of jobs (or the holy grail, which is both!) for their board!

Also, another note about agents. They can be harsh.

Ever sent your pics into an agency and had them rejected? It’s quite possible they will have forwarded them to all their favourite clients and scouts and mocked your pictures, laughed at your delusion.

Kristen McMenamy's daughter Lily is a model too, quite an unusual looking one.
Not saying she's a bad looking girl but....hard pass. Too many of these celeb/model spawns have a "modeling career" that should go to more worthy candidates. All of these kids are attractive people (Georgia May Jagger, Kaia Gerber, Hadids, Kendall, Devon Aoki, Cara D., etc.) but imho, most of them would have no modeling career to speak of without their famous parents.

I just don’t think Kaia looks like a model. She’s actress-pretty, not model-pretty.

Maybe if she wasn’t born famous, she might have been an average catalogue (or these days, Instagram) model. But definitely not a supermodel.

Wow. I always thought that models eating cotton wool was a myth. Their skin and hair must have been rubbish from no nutrients?
You don't do it all the time, just when you need to fit in the sample sizes.
It isn't a healthy lifestyle at all, and everywhere around me was cocaine, speed and meth. Oddly, the stimulants will help your hair and nails grow faster, but you are either blessed with good skin or you have the body with great make up artists!!
I spent most of my modelling career in glamour though which is where the parties are alot more fun especially if you are being paid to attend just to stand around looking pretty and dumb!!

I can't stand Cara and her constant scowl. She just seems like someone who would be a total pain in the ass to be around

The photos in the article make it so obvious that Lily wouldn't have been a model in other circumstances. Sure, she's really pretty and has a lovely figure, probably above average. But those high fashion poses don't suit her, they look wrong because we are used to seeing a certain body type, which she doesn't have, in these poses. Her legs look short and stumpy, the lines and proportions are off. I'm all for diversity in fashion, but that would have to be diversity on all levels. These nepo girls want to be super models, and they get their way because their fame creates attention and sales, but they just don't look like them.
I agree she doesn't have the body type to be a model.

Lily is a beautiful girl but I'm pretty sure a lot of that is down to fillers, and a possible nose job. She's really built her cheeks up, as well as her lips. I actually wonder if her cheeks are due to implants rather than fillers are they are so extreme.

Here are some older photos of her:

And now some more recent ones. Her cheeks are now too OTT in my opinion:

you could tell Gigi was her absolute fave child!
It always bothered me how little she seemed to care about Bella until she got popular in the modeling word post plastic surgeries. On RHOBH, she often ignored Bella or mentioned her as an afterthought (this was before Bella got work done) and focused extensively on Gigi. Now she’s always posting photos of Bella saying how proud she is on Instagram. 🙄

Christy appears to be aging naturally, I don't even spot a lick of botox. She doesn't strike me as the type to dabble in lip filler, not these days anyway.

Her daughter has the same kind of chiseled nose.

I know, right?
WTF?
Only got some modelling gigs purely because their dads are the Rolling Stones.

The SIsters Hadid are pretty - but hardly in the league of Christy Turlington and her contemporaries.
Sorry but there is nothing special about Gigi Hadid, I wouldn’t blink if I saw her in the Potters Bar Wetherspoons on a Friday at the end of term.

There seem to be some who are shorter, Lottie Moss, Hailey Baldwin.. Lily Rose Depp is only 5"3! I guess having famous parents/siblings help. Sorry, I shouldn't be snarky, they may be really good models for all I know?

Lottie Moss is going to screw up what little career she does have if she doesn't leave her face alone. She has also had a boob job.She was such a naturally pretty girl at one point.

Helena Christensen is and was my ultimate girl crush
I was getting my haircut in a small neighborhood salon in nyc a couple years ago and she walked in. It was a cold snowy winter day and she quickly realized that she had lost a glove when she got out of the cab and ran back out to go look for it. She said her grandmother had made them for her and was so happy she found it 🥰 She was stunning.
