That Times article is very in depth. No doubt Kelechnekoff is pissed that she didn't get a mention.

The thing I don’t get about all this, is Clemmie doesn’t come across as a special snowflake who would be hurt by comments on a forum. When she was mentioned on Mumsnet, she argued back, guns blazing, issued threats that got threads deleted regularly etc. She comes across as thick skinned, tough as nails, and can be quite verbally aggressive herself when people disagree with her.

She joined Tattle for no other reason than having a good old gossip and an incognito witch.

Does anyone have times access?

This is yet another new story with another angle.
It’s a superb article. Everything the Grazia piece isn’t. Interesting it’s written by Beverley Turner and she talks about wanting to work with her but realising MOD was going to be too ambitious. It’s a great article

If anyone does have any SS of what kelechi said can they please share them? I will happily email grazia too. Not even necessarily in defence of MOD but People shouldn't be allowed to publish such blatant lies.
This is the only one I have. "Demonic tendencies" 😂

Susie's comments on The Times article though perhaps a bit much are true.

I agree that the fallout to her posting on here are huge, some even saying blown out of proportion, but the "rewards" of her Instagram profile were also out of proportion.

Whoever would have thought that a pretty midwife from London, posting about her job and family to a social media app, would be enough to be gifted free holidays, endless home furnishings, a £4k sink?!, a book deal and other crazy opportunities?

IMO, the response to her misdemeanor is as huge as her Instafame. Out of proportion, yes, though she was perfectly happy to accept and even court the rewards when they were of benefit to her.
It's the problem with the whole influencer gig. A whole lot for simply branding yourself. It works the other way too.
The article mentions that she had the adoration of 600k, but 9 comments on here and she couldn't cope with people not liking her? Fame is an ugly beast...

Considering a doctor who decapitated a baby by attempting to pull it out of its mother when it was being born wasn't struck off, I think it would be an utter disgrace if she was over a few comments.
I know this is a quote from pages ago but the GMC and the NMC are very different bodies. Nurses and midwives are struck off for what can seem like minor mistakes, all the time. The NMC take misuse of social media very seriously and will certainly be examining the way MOD has represented her profession. Particularly in relation to sensitive topics such as the care of black women in pregnancy and delivery.

I hope they realize there is absolutely zero grounds though for thinking MOD was not providing good care for WOC.

Thanks for that. Good read.

Dear Instahuns,

I knew you lot were here sniffing around.

Nice to see Tattle called an ‘opinion forum’ - perhaps you could take note and stop calling us trolls and bullies. Sometimes we’re a bit waspish but we’re not ruining lives. You are!

If there is anything you could take away from this article it’s to stop putting your kids online for all to see. This newspaper had no qualms using a SODs family photo to illustrate this story and they might just do the same to you at some point. Just think how those little girls feel this morning when they go to school and their friends tell them that their parents saw them in the paper because their Mummy is being called out as a Troll, Bully, and worse.

The people responsible for this public shaming are you Insta Huns (and the Sods - their Children should never have been exposed online.)

But let’s get back to your part... you all over share your children online so imagine how it would feel to have your kids thrust into such a damaging situation because you want to increase book sales, cover up a dodgy past or increase engagement. You’re all disgusting.

TMS, Hungernama, CB and Tetyana I am mostly looking at you.

It is one of the better ones for certain but for one thing- once again the CB thing is danced around or omitted. The context of MODs / Alice’s comments and the general and overriding attitude of CB... She comes out of it an innocent and frankly the judiciousness in me finds it unsettling.

For all my gripes against Kelechi, that is such an unfortunate photo 😩😭😂. And I know I’ve said this over and over but I just think the accusations against MOD should at least be factually accurate. Kelechi is burying certain facts to make herself look great. I also really can’t find any evidence that she was mentioned on here by MOD prior to all this like she claims? The worst part in my opinion is that the opportunity to champion a really important issue about black women suffering in childbirth is being blocked by false mud slinging. I even appreciate that Kelechi was upset and lost her temper; but she hasn’t acknowledged this or apologised at all. She’s just rewritten the story in her favour.

I don’t believe for one minute MOD has not given adequate care to MOC but I do however think her foolish behaviour and choice of words should mean that she should be struck of, if she walked into a room while I was in labour I wouldn’t be comfortable with her delivering my baby after her recent actions.

I do however also think that CB should have to take some responsibility for her actions when it comes to her role of madam / pimp. It seems like this is being overlooked in all the write ups online. Profiting from the sale of another woman having sex with someone for cash isn’t something that’s sits well with me either.

What a life eh. Do we think this whole episode has maybe made some Insta mum's worried that how quick their peers can turn that the friendships are all fake.
I'm sure many read here and are have mistakes and skeletons in thier closet.
The times is good article.
The brands have to take some blame.
I don't get why destinology targeted the od or why they accepted it.
I hope we start to see wider debates on what really is trolling.
Block and delete culture/ echo chambers is why tattle is so popular this a is a problem of their own making and it won't go away.
I think engagement on Insta is at an all time low and so many people are just fed up of the greed and influencer market.
I now avoid brands that use influencers.
We do need a sensible measured debate on racism..
We do need greater regulation of the industry.
The ASA and CMA issuing huge fines.
We do need greater protection for influencer kids.
Mod served a cautionary tale how being a top influencer doesnt bring happiness and is detrimental to mental health.

Agreed. It’s like nobody wants to talk about the fact CB ran an escort agency/pimped women out. How about the fact that WOC after 5 times more likely to be killed through there role an escort?

I’m not for one minute saying that what MOD said wasn’t wrong. It was 1000% wrong and she should have to face up to that and I do think she should be struck off.

I also think there’s a conversation to be had about pimps and the exploration of women too!

I agree with you about CB. She makes me cross. There is a massive conversation to be had about Mumfluencing and how they are all twats.

100% true. Doctors rarely get struck off, just "sent for further training". Nurses and midwives are dealt with very harshly.

I hope they realize there is absolutely zero grounds though for thinking MOD was not providing good care for WOC.
Presumably, if complaints have been made they will need to investigate previous cases to decide whether her care was adequate.

Healthcare professionals are allowed to hold unsavoury personal opinions (the professional bodies aren’t the thought police) but they must not affect the care they give or the work they do.

There are also rules about professional conduct outside of work, basically you are a registered professional 24/7 and you are supposed to abide by the code of conduct 24/7 too. This also applies to the social media stuff and bringing the profession into disrepute.

FWIW, I don’t think she needs to be tarred and feathered over this but if her comments have made previous patients of hers worry about their care then I hope an investigation is able to put their minds at rest.

Firstly, a couple of disclaimers: I am a WOC, secondly, I have a lot of time generally for Mars Lord. She has been a fantastic support to some dear friends. I also can’t comment on any previous incidents eg the book review as they were before my time.

However. Unless there are further comments than the infamous quote about CB being aggressive, I fail to see how MOD has bullied and trolled black women over 8 months. I haven’t even seen where she has supposedly brought Kele up on Tattle

Of course, everyone’s idea of what constitutes a racist comment is going to be different. I think it depends very much on life experiences and upbringing/community. And frankly, having been ambushed after school and had treacle and flour dumped over my massive Afro...that just isn’t a racist comment to me. CB has been aggressive on many occasions and while she mostly keeps it to her stories, if you dig into comments you can see so much prejudice towards non-black people coming from her. And yes, as soon as you voice a different point of view on any subject it quickly gets turned around to race.

I dunno, the whole thing has become a circus with people getting outraged beyond belief while listening to inaccurate hyperbole from a biased source. I think if people looked at tattle and did an advanced search on aliceinwanderlust’s posts they would see no prejudice against WOC. Just dislike of one person which another poster out into context further up the thread. It is also perfectly possible to dislike someone on a personal level but value their work, like say...inviting them to talk about a topic they’re passionate about on your podcast.
Probably the most balanced and fair comment on this whole debacle.

granted I’m posting without RTFT but I am in total agreement with @Stargazer (I think) who was listing the things Clemmie should do except instead of “come back fighting” I’d say
- give an interview
- agree that you and Simon are winding up the OD brand and accounts
- honour existing commitments
- take time out over Christmas to reflect on what’s happened and how it came to be
- agree a way forward as a family
- and finally start your lives anew and normal from 2020 on

I think this might do MOD the world of good. She didn't seem that happy compared to years ago, all the 3k gold taps and 4k sinks in the world don't bring happiness. She was lured away from being a midwife to spending 80% of her working days influencing. She knows deep down she's making people feel tit, buy stuff they can't afford, awful cheap jewelry and the hundreds of thousands of free holidays she's received are more than many people make in decades of working.

It's so at odds with being a midwife, something I think she genuinely has a passion for. The two careers are oil and water.

Least this way she flushes out all the people that were just using her for the numbers and can make better life choices that will make her happier.

I’m on a mailing list and received this last night, from someone who works in midwifery.
I’m not a mod follower but this post got me intrigued so thought I’d share.
I have seen a lot of people in that field blindly defending.

This midwife made some horrible comments on her fake social media account and saying that black women can use their race as a 'weapon' is disturbing. The papers don't seem to have picked up on the racist element or her responsibilities as a midwife, or the pain and hardship of the black women in the same online space as her.

I hate conflict and I'm sure there are many factors we don't know about at play here.

But talking about race isn't about making people comfortable.

This situation is not tolerable and she needs to be held accountable.

I also think online criticism on it's own isn't that constructive.

Here's my suggestion:

If you're white, I think you should be trying to educate yourself, because we all struggle with internalised racism.

As Audre Lorde said, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”

We should use this situation as a way of learning more about black and ethnic minority inequality.
