Missing people and murder cases #3

Helen Bailey was found in a pit in her own garage though, clearly and sadly a murder victim. Not washed up in a river.

My point was that when normal everyday (non-police) people started talking about it on forums, enough interest / concern was raised to get the police to relaunch their investigation. I think social media *can* be extremely helpful. The amount of things the Websleuths members have uncovered over the years is incredible.

There's a missing man in NZ's North Island. He left a hotel in the wee small hours of the morning just as that area was hit by severe flooding and likely followed an unlikely detour just to try to get home (this would explain why his car was pictured heading in a different direction to that someone would normally take). He's still missing.

The father has been missing since February 14 and was driving his white Hilux.

• Can you see anyone other than the man standing with his back up against the wall in the photo below? Others are convinced they can see another individual to the right, where the driver's door would be, but I certainly can't.

i can’t see anything either! given how tightly the truck is parked to the wall i feel it would be tricky for another person to be stood there too - is it just a trick of the shadows maybe?

I can see a shadow and the front curved part of the roof bar thing, there doesn't look like there's someone else there to me.

There haven't been any recent updates on Philip Mertens, the pilot from New Zealand who was been taken hostage in New Guinea. I hope he is ok. The pictures have haunted me since they were released.

OMG you definitely have a great eye! I can see a figure hunched over the front ... maybe cleaning the windscreen (?) - is that what you see?

I feel so sad for his family as efforts to find him were hampered from the start - have a read of this:

The latest on this - as of six days ago - is that navy divers were searching for him.

I wonder if he crossed a bridge just as it was being swept away, and his ute was submerged and moved down a river along with the damage. It's not a far-fetched suggestion, as that's what happened in at least one other case.

One missing child’s case that’s always stuck with me was the disappearance of Lisa Irwin. She was a 10 month old baby who went missing from her home one night, nothing ever turned up about her. I hope she is still alive and is happy.

Andrew Gosden is one that baffles me too.

Had a quick look at his wiki page and tbh it looks like suicide to me. One-way ticket, took hardly anything with him, noticeable change in behaviour in the days leading to his disappearance, introverted...

Very easy to disappear in London. Loads of people vanish into thin air and just because he was young doesn't mean it was impossible for him to do so. His teachers did say he was "mature beyond his years".

I get that, but I just think it would be impossible for him to commit suicide in London and never be found.

Evan Reid from Glasgow has been missing for nearly a week. He has just vanished. I find it so strange that it’s not been all over the news. He was last seen getting off the train (nowhere near his house or an area that he knows) agitated after texting his partner saying something “dodgy was happening” and that he needed the police. He’s vanished and hasn’t been seen since.

rafels sister (got kids to shane) was saying stuff like she’s been in a refuge because of shane, he’s never been allowed his kids alone, never asked if her family is ok and he went mad as she got a tribute tattoo to rafel. Looks like shane is back doing his bouncy castle business.
