There needs to be more thorough checks and assessments to get into the police force. Its more than 1 bad apple.

I despise the police, the number of times I was harassed as young lad just because I was walking alone, wearing a hoodie and tracksuit, or getting followed by police cars to make sure that I was going to right destination.

Yeah this is equally, if not more, disgusting that the one just shared above. I can’t even comprehend why this thought would come into a persons head?! They deserve naming & shaming. I hope they are getting prosecuted - I’ve read that they haven’t but then I’ve also read that it’s just not been in court yet. Disgraceful, they really need to take a look at who they’re employing & what environment these officers are in that they think behaviour like this is acceptable.

Pc facing jail for ordering porn while guarding body of dead child
A Metropolitan Police officer was today warned he faces jail for buying and watching porn while guarding the body of a dead child.
There was, not on the same level though I agree. Kind of ruins their ‘one bad apple mantra’ doesn’t it?
It's a little disturbing to read people's defence of the police by saying that those women that were manhandled MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING.
It sounds exactly like the argument used when a woman is sexually harassed or assaulted.
I've said it before on another thread but I attended a number of protests (not these ones) as an observer and the police would often grab, pull, push, drag people who were breaking no law. I saw one girl who sat on the footpath quite close to me get dragged away by the foot. She was attending a protest and was not doing anything to warrant what happened.

I dont wear a mask in the open air and not once have the police stopped me, obviously because it would be a complete waste of bloody time.
since we are now to disrespect and distrust the police because of the actions of a few, can we also do this for other jobs? What about doctors and paramedics?? I mean doctors have been rapists, murderers etc

It seems like the majority of the people are okay with the goverment giving the police more powers to crack down peaceful protests? These type of idiots are the same people that bang on about China, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union, not allowing the public to openly complain about the goverment.
Can’t stand the police. OT ish but my partner’s parents are ex police - his mum worked hard and sounds like she did help people (worked with female victims of domestic abuse and grape mainly in the latter years of her career) whereas his dad too the piss (long lunches, hardly did any work, abused his power to wind people up) - and his sibling has joined recently. They’ve never worked full time and have had easy jobs up until now and still live at home. Don’t think they’ll last long. The worst of it is that they’ve been breaking covid rules since last March by visiting friends houses and their partner’s house where he lives with his parents and siblings and having the partner over at their house. Even puts it on social media, and is continuing to break the rules now and their parents are lying to my partner about it now since he pointed out the hypocrisy. Got half a mind to report them all. Don’t break the law you’re supposed to be enforcing. I know it’s ‘minor’ but I haven’t been going to friends or families houses since the rules changed again and neither have anyone else I know who aren’t in the police!!

I think theres a cultural behaviour within the force thats wrong. The way they antagonise people, hiding behind/feeling protected by the uniform and authority. There is an element of them just being bullies. This isnt all of them, but sadly too many.

What don’t they understand? It’s not about one incident, it’s years of dismissing assault claims misogyny and making women feel as if they contributed to their own harassment.
So many women don’t report and I can see why.

I've mistrusted police, ever since I was a child, one, bully of a police officer, accused me of calling a drug dealer and a council estate trash, while him and his friend, laughed at the thought of putting me in a cell, all because I was wearing a hoodie and tracksuit.
In my job I come across a lot of police and there's this weird air about them. It's like arrogance but more off putting. Loads of them have it, I don't know if it's the way they're trained. But even the way they speak on the phone I can tell it's a police officer straight away. I definitely don't think it helps them much and they can be often quite hard work.
