What is really disturbing me is the number of junior police officers posting on Twitter and making it all about them, how they feel, how hard their job is. Calling the women attending animals and thugs.
They can say their piece but not now, even now they are making it about them. It’s not.
Their supporters (and I include myself as being generally pro police) are banging the one bad apple drum. Completely missing the point if they really think it’s just because of poor Sarah.
It’s years of not being listened to by police on domestic violence, sexual assault, grape etc.
This was the tipping point and should have been handled so sensitively and it would not have escalated. No idea who advised them but how can something so obvious be got so wrong?
The respect is gone if only because they can’t say sorry. Her friend is being used by people for political gain too and missed the point. I agree with the first couple of tweet replies.
