you mean make schools safer for staff and children with illnesses/ family members who are high risk by asking children 7 and over to wear a piece of fabric on their face?

My son has to grow up without a dad because of covid. As much of a prick as he was when he was alive my son adored him. He didn’t think it was anything to worry about and I was being irrational - even though I was the doctor in the house not him. If it means one child doesn’t lose a parent personally I’d send my 1 year old to Creche in a hazmat suit.

can we get back to melanie now?
Very sorry for your loss but surely people realise that no matter what we do this will never go away until the health service sorts itself out? And we are discussing Melanie whose take is one more and more people are beginning to agree with.

More and more people aren't specialists. I'll listen to the science and not someone who doesn't even say what degree she has properly.

What health service in the world do you know who has it sorted out? We need more staff and less people taking up beds. Less people taking up beds = ideally less people in them with covid as there are steps to avoid it and not taking them away from cancer patients etc. That starts with people taking accountability for their own actions and getting over themselves by realising how it spreads and how it can be stopped. I've worked constantly in our health service for the past 15 months and 5 years before that. I don't need a lecture of how badly run our health system is.

My point is that the HSE was always this way, Covid or not. So do we just carry on making everyone suffer forever? I genuinely want to know why so many people seem to think this will go away. It won’t.

I must say this really isn’t the place to discuss this, but you’ve hit a bit of a nerve with me and probably others here.
My mum is currently ill with breast cancer, she was scheduled to have surgery in September but it was cancelled last minute because cases in the area surged, it was/is very upsetting and worrying, but I would never for a minute accuse the staff at the hospital of being disorganised and tell them to sort themselves out, they dedicate their whole life to saving people and they’re still doing so dispute being put under so much pressure.

I’d say that fair enough, blame the government for not providing enough support and failing to gain the trust of the public by flip flopping about restrictions. But not the health service.

This is very much a ‘not my job not my problem’ take on things, blaming the health service and saying they need to sort themselves out. No health service (nor government) in the world was ready for COVID.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that countries that have imposed stricter measures have far less cases/deaths.
If you really refuse to be sensible and cautious (even if that means just wearing a mask - not a big ask at all) because it’s ‘not your problem’ then I don’t see how you can slag off medical professionals.
I’m also pretty offended by anyone who compares wearing a mask to child abuse, it’s incredibly crass and ignorant.

Sorry for the rant I tried to stay as calm as I could 😅

Very few people agree with Mel, unless it’s her army of sock puppet accounts.

The HSE was under pressure, now it’s under the same pressure with several hundred people in ICU with covid. Having the attitude of “serves them right “ is incredibly selfish and stupid.
You seem to be flat out on tattle just spouting ill informed tit about covid. You don’t have anything relevant to say re Melanie, nobody wants to hear your opinion, would you ever do everyone a favour and kindly piss off 😘

Point stands - where does it end? Nobody blaming staff or patients, just crappy managers who don’t give a flying f**k as long as they’re not held to account. Job well done obviously. 🤷‍♀️

Respectfully, maybe take it to the covid thread? That seems a more appropriate place to discuss your views as people are on that thread to discuss the issue of covid and restrictions. You’re entitled to your opinion, but this convo is going round in circles and none of us are ever gonna agree with each other, so it’s a bit futile really. The thread is for talking about Melanie rather than evaluating the performance of governments and medical leaders in the covid crisis.

I agree that healthcare in Ireland is badly managed and there is not enough of hospitals and healthcare staff, the waiting times for consultants are shocking even privately.
But I don’t agree with Melanie when she says people shouldn’t have to do their part and help not making the situation worse. There are not that many restrictions at the moment, there’s a lot more freedom than earlier this year. The healthcare is not going to be fixed overnight, until then it’s not so hard to wash your hands and properly wear a mask.

Wow, Melanie the foodie expert found some vegetarian cheese 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
(And before anyone spoils my fun, yes, I know it's s typo/brain fart moment, yes I know some (many types of) cheese isn't vegetarian. Just let me laugh at this, ok?)

Posting this kind of stuff is what counts as her job

Wait guys, Melanie constantly says we are blowing the covid response out of proportion but she doesn't think schools are safe places in terms of covid?
Which is it Mel???? Covid is dangerous and we should have precautions or covid is a silly little cold and we should move on with our lives

She can't produce one simple opinion about anything without plagiarising someone else because she thinks it's a cool informed opinion.

Her continued need to compensate for how stupid and unintelligent she is is becoming a full time job.
Back to the boobs, something else she's an expert in. What an absolute knob.

Maybe this explains why she thinks they’re ‘mostly vegan’ despite eating steak twice a week?😅

Is there a 'trash people who think veganism is a personality' thread?
@MistyWindows I *still* haven't recovered from Mel claiming to be "mostly plant based" "but steak twice a week" when in all honestly most of her diet is cheap processed food. I don't understand the fake food market... You don't eat animal products, so why does what you do eat resemble animal products? Like that disgusting vegan egg mix (people tend to use it in baking- which is kind of understandable) but If you don't eat eggs, why do people *want* to eat tofu with texturising chemicals to resemble scrambled egg? Just eliminate eggs!?!

I agree entirely, a face covering is not a struggle or violation despite what Melanie and newspapers make it out to be. (The exception is for deaf people who rely on lip reading). Parents failing to support their children's teachers after months of moaning about having their kids kept at home and having to educate them themselves is disgusting and disrespectful imo.
I'm so sorry for your terrible loss and I'm saddened to think how you and your kid(s) must be suffering feelings of not only the space he's left your life, but angry seeing the selfish behaviour people are exhibiting every day. Their failure to take the pandemic seriously because they haven't yet been directly/personally affected by the infection, only the restrictions put in place, shows how divided our society has become when we should be banding together, at a distance. 😥

My point is that the HSE was always this way, Covid or not. So do we just carry on making everyone suffer forever? I genuinely want to know why so many people seem to think this will go away. It won’t.
I don't see what you mean by "making everyone suffer" when it's ones with the infection and their families who are 'suffering'?? ... Most of the measures implemented are barely a mild inconvenience and asking people not to congregate or go to poorly ventilated places in vast numbers is merely common sense. Or at least, what common sense used to be.
Clubbing isn't a necessary, life or society sustaining activity. Loss of jobs is unfortunate, but limiting the people on a restaurant table and not having parties with more than three households is not "suffering!"

By her standards everyone is "mostly plant based". I always thought she was trying to bait Freelee with her videos about anything related to veganism to generate more traffic on her channel and socials.

Off topic but most vegans don't become vegan because they don't like the taste of animal products, but because of ethical or environmental reasons. It's nice to have vegan alternatives to the foods I grew up with and used to enjoy before becoming vegan.

Who didn't warn her that kids film hit differently when you have a child? Where are the parents in her life?? Her reels confuse the duck out of me.
