No so from what I gathered. If you leave the religion from free will and you haven’t been caught doing wrong or confessed to there priest type people then you’ve just like left and classed as like not one anymore. but if you was still practicing but living the lifestyle they see as wrong then they would be shunned for a period of time set until they priest guys say ok you’ve done your time you can have people speak to you again.

if her mum is a true practicing jw I wouldn’t of thought she agrees with madisons lifestyle but maybe because she left before doing wrong it’s not an issue ? Not sure exactly. Maybe her mum isn’t really like a proper one?Especially when she takes part in videos like talking about body count and sending nudes and what have you

my friend was in secret relationship at college with a non jw guy but still going to there church kind of just to keep the peace with her family. And someone that was in the church was spying on her social media’s and found pictures of her with her boyfriend showed them to the priests and they made her go to this meeting like where she had to sit there infront of them and discus it and they told her she had to end the relationship and she refused and so they disfellowshiped her. Following that her mum and dad kicked her out of her family home like 2 days later and they have never spoken to her since. She’s also just had a baby with the same guy she was with and they have never met there grandchild/ great grandchild because she’s shunned.
I don’t get why they shun though like the reasons why I think it’s just to punish them publicly so maybe they think twice in future ? Not sure

I’m so confused. I get that Madison has left the religion but surely the JW community would shun Jan because of the way her daughter behaves? I understand it’s a strict religion and I can’t imagine they’d approve of Madison’s personal life being smeared across the pages of The Sun 🥴
This is just a guess cause I know nothing about the religion but maybe they could only shun Jan if mads was still part of the religion? Like if she was letting her JW daughter break all the JW rules then that would be a major problem. But now mads isn’t part of the religion, what she does no longer concerns people within the religion? As i said just a guess. If that’s not the case then i’m not sure how the whole family/religion dynamic is actually working

Wouldn’t it be a twist if actually non of them had ever been jw and mad was just lying about it like how she lies about being Italian and Persian hahahaha

It all works differently depending on if your baptised or not too, because Maddy was baptised, technically she should have been disfellowshipped/ shunned but if she left on her own accord then there’s no reason too if that makes sense so her fam are free to still socialise with her but it all depends on the parents if they’re really strict then they may shun you regardless.
My friend was still in it after I left then she got pregnant from a boyfriend she had that wasn’t in it, and then she got disfellowshipped and left her family didn’t shun her but then she decided to go back and had to have a lot of meetings and talks and basically beg for forgiveness

The thing that confuses me is if maddy ‘left’ the religion shouldn’t she have been ‘shunned’ by her mum? Or is that not how it works?
Well not always, my mum hasn’t shunned me, it’s more if you choose to go into the religion and get baptised, THEN decide to leave, that’s when you’re shunned most of the time, but it may just be her mums not that much of a twit lol like mine 😂 but there are plenty of people who would shun family members baptised or not, trust me I’ve seen it 👀 but my mum is still my mum at the end of the day and she loves her kids too much to ever shun us..even though both my sisters are in the religion still🙄😂 but like I say, my dad isn’t in the religion and never has been, and he’d never go along with her shunning me

I know of a similar thing happening...what is wrong with people?? How can you not talk to your own child?? That’s what makes me the angriest...

I used to be a jw
But basically if she was vitally baptised and then got disfellowshiped her mum shouldn’t actually be associating with her. It’s something that the elders (preists) would advise her not to do.
But if she wasn’t baptised and she left the religion in her own accord then her mum can associate with her.

Me too duck that 😂 when my parents got divorced, because it wasn’t technically a ‘godly’ divorce they wouldn’t allow it (even though it was a very toxic relationship) they did it anyway then they basically tried to ban my parents from remarrying because the divorce wasn’t in the eyes of Jehovah, then when my dad got remarried they shunned him and his wife for like 6 months even though they moved up north (I’m down south) because he got remarried first the whole thing is a cult

Hmmmm it’s so complicated, it’s a complicated religion and has ruined a lot of families
But I still love and believe in God and the religion itself has given me morals that I still use today.

She was baptised she had a video on her Instagram it’s been deleted now but it was her in like a pool thing and some man holding her and literally tipping her backwards fully under water

I well reckon it’s the reason her and paddy broke up because he is still a witness I think

Just wish she’d make a video about the whole JW thing and satisfy our curiosity! She’d probs lie throughout it though 👀

Ohhh okay!
“Tipping her backwards fully under water” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you guys actually make me laugh
But if that’s the case then yeah she was baptised!
Her and paddy probably had sex and the elders found out or she just left to be a bad birch

Hahahaha I’m just tryna imagine her going on the platform and doing a talk infront of the whole congregation (if your an ex jw you know)
She was probably thinking in her head “I can’t wait to get disfellowshiped so I can be a bad bitxhhh I know it’s gonna hit different ✌🏻👌

i totally agree with the being raised JW comment from what I know it’s not a nice religion, say what you want to me but I said what I said.
it’s very controlling, people are very conditioned And brain washed into there thinking also it’s incredibly sexist.
not going to lie in my opinion it ticks all the boxes of a cult. There was a documentary from Leah remini all about it with ex Jehovah’s on it giving there life story’s, very sad.
They believe the end of the world is coming any day and that god will kill every person that isn’t a jw including children babies etc. There are a lot of good beautiful souls in the world so why they think we are worthy of death is beyond me.
I saw first hand how the shunning process worked to one of my best friends she was so badly treated and it really damaged her, she lost all her family mum dad gran everyone to this day they won’t speak to her and all she did was get a boyfriend.
I’m not claiming to be an expert of the religion but from what I know it is not nice. So I also see why maddy is how she is to an extent.
My friend also benefited from therapy like I said she was really damaged from it.
They grow up not being allowed to do anything or socialise properly restricted from everything, and so when they leave they are thrown into the real world and go a bit crazy often doing things they have never done before or been allowed to do before.
Idk I was raised one and I’ve turned out fine. It isn’t a cult. Define the word cult: You worship humans. Jws worship God. I just get on with life how I want to. But guess people are different

In modern English, a cult is a social group that is defined by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs, or by its common interest in a particular personality, object or goal.

I’m sure there are lots of beautiful jw souls I’m not saying at all that they are all bad people I don’t believe that at all but I definitely don’t think it’s a nice religion I think the teachings aren’t at peoples best interest and I think the followers are very conditioned. Obv this is just my opinion. No offence to anyone that is one or has family that is one etc because I’m sure there are lovely.
there stand on blood is one that I find hard to comprehend. Not accepting blood transfusions in life & death situations, like in labour or children that have thst choice made for them by parents etc. I don’t understand that and the shunning thing.
I do find the teachings different like the not celebrating holidays etc but deffo the blood and shunning doesn’t sit right with me

I’m not here for an argument. Do some more research what a cult is though. It’s not Correct. Wikipedia is not a good source FYI. Anyone can edit. At uni you would be discredited. Anyway as I said not here for an argument.
