The idea that she’s currently ‘resting creatively’ whilst pumping out paid ad after paid ad is ridiculous.

Imagine buying the new issue of Vogue and it’s all ads & directory and Edward’s editors letter is like ‘hi, don’t mind us, it’s all about ebb & flow, we’re resting creatively this season’. Or tuning in to watch your favourite programme on ITV and the voiceover person says ‘we’ve put all our effort into the ads tonight, don’t worry your show will be back once the team have rested creatively’.

And she has done a recipe video recently but it was a paid ad for an ice cream company so the creativity managed to flow for that? Oh I see…
It could be a great series, how to make meals if you don’t have access to a kitchen. Or creating healthy meals without an oven. Showing simple dishes that could be thrown together.

Except they just eat #vegan #sustainable ready meals all the time, think of all the plastic waste and for someone who writes recipes and is a #passionate #cook it’s all just a bit odd

I feel you, I sigh anytime an influencer mentions those fad nut butters with every meal they show  (I’m allergic). Seriously though the nut butter fad is everywhere. I couldn’t be vegan easily because everything seems to contain the b*stards (devil’s food = nuts) I swear the likes of Maddie copy each other with the way they present their meals.
Ah, that's crappy and more difficult to avoid that mushrooms I would imagine as they get stealthed into things. I have been vegetarian for nearly 40 years and it's been a challenge to avoid the guys, particularly when eating out.

I was just watching a few of her old videos going back 3 years. She had 30k 40k 50k likes as opposed to the 2k or 3k she is getting now. She needs a good head wobble and fix why she isn't getting the likes she used to. She needs to read these comments. She will be getting one less like from me. I'm fed up up with the contradictory influencers who are detrimental and dishonest to their viewers

From my observations of lots of other UK influencers Madeleine isn't alone in having really poor viewer & like numbers on yt. I looked at the stats for a few of the British ones (The Anna Edit, Estee etc) on Anna's thread a while ago and they all had really bad numbers compared to a few years ago. I think that reflects their content being stale, filled with ads, and boring. But also that their subscribers have moved on - they're watching different content creators or just not using the platform as much.

I think people are starting to see through influencer bull. It's all just ads for the same stuff. How can you trust their opinion on anything? I don't anymore.

I also unfollowed a lot that have shown what utter bellends they are during covid.

I can't bear the influencer culture of this time and can't wait for it to be over. People who are already wealthy being gifted stuff left, right and centre turns my stomach. Even worse is the blatant begging under the guise of "looking for recommendations".

Exactly!! Seen that too. They need to up their game. Especially if this is their income.
If it were not for the renovations, I would stop watching Maddie too. I love watching before and afters. But watching them push products and make out they are someone they are not, is wearing thin. Going to KFC for their vegan burger? When you question it. Comments removed or blocked. So people are getting savvy.

I am the same as you. Wealthy people being given expensive items left right and centre really makes me angry. Us plebs work hard and save for things, and these people are drowning in freebies for absolutely no reason.

I don't mind when for example beauty bloggers get sent say a bunch of skin care for a new launch to test and promote, that's their "job" after all but when the products are then packed into for example a gorgeous leather and wicker picnic basket complete with china, glasses, cutlery, wine, treats and flowers it just makes me seethe. And actual paying customers are at most "given" some crappy mass-produced make up bag as a "gift with purchase" when spending their own money....!

it's especially gross when people like maddie accept far too many pr gifted products, which she then shills despite claiming to be a ~minimalist~ free stuff is nice but surely, if you really believed in living simply then you wouldn't accpt everything you're offered?

Maddie getting gifted things annoys me more than most, I have a tiny lil side blog that I occasionally (like once every year and a half lol) get sent stuff to review on, and I’ve turned down some of the same companies I’ve seen her promote, due to not thinking they’re ethical/sustainable enough for me to promote usually. One of them I turned down then offered me more money, can’t help but wonder if they did the same with Maddie, but considering our follower differences, I doubt they’d have offered an extra £20 😂

This is what I meant. She claims to be living a simple, minimalist lifestyle but takes every freebie going. When she's challenged about anything she's passive aggressive or cries troll. No one needs the amount of stuff she accepts.

what do you think has happened? maddie said she won't be posting much due to 'something happening in our personal life.'

i hate when influencers do this. either say something or don't. if you don't say anything, people might ask where you are but you can just ignore those messages. whereas if you say ~something~ has happened. surely people are going to ask about that, which is way harder.
