I’m waiting for her to go non-vegan now. She’s thrown away all of her other morals, so I don’t see her doing this for the rest of her life.

she's already accepted wool clothing from organic basics. it's 'recycled' but it's still funding animal exploitation, whichver way you cut it. it's not vegan and it's not necessary to wear new wool (or any other animal product) when there are so many other alternatives, including second-hand. she really didn't need to accept new non-vegan clothing but here we are. just one of many ways maddie compromises her ethics and morals (if she even had them to begin with)

she's also spoken about why she has so much makeup and skincare and other products. she justified it because that's her job but like... you're not a sustainability influencer or minimalist then? you can't have it both ways. you can't accept all these products and still claim to live simply and sustainably!

As a vegan, how can she justify funding a company that kills millions of chickens in such horrific ways? Morally that place is just a no-go for vegans surely?

How is make up and skincare her job? I’ve been following her for a while and I never would have thought that’s part of the influencing she does.

When she does reels on skincare, the products always look so greasy, like I don't know how putting all those chemicals on your face would actually do you any good? She doesn't have the best skin either imo, there's a lot of sun damage and her eye bags suggest she may be dehydrated or deficient in certain vitamins.

The other one that got me was her promoting this Tefal cake oven, basically a tabletop device that baked a cake. The old, minimalist, environment conscious Maddie would not have countenanced giving it house room. She and Alex were trying really hard to come up with reasons to justify having one but it just seemed so fake and was clearly just because she was offered the money to promote it.

you've hit the nail on the head. What she is doing is literally the opposite of minimalism. she's encouraging people to buy new stuff all the time. Didn't she used to really love charity shopping? Brands won't pay for that kind of content though will they.

It’s just sad, and she’ll try and say she has to for her job, and she’s just trying to create free content. But there’s actually so many influencers who do promote minimalism. And more come up every day, Venetia la manna just to name one does all second hand. Does brand deals with eBay and other second hand and eco companies, eco and thrift pop ups, did “eco” wedding. Actively calls out companies for poor practices. Which just proves the point Maddie doesn’t because shes lazy and at the core doesn’t care. She hasn’t got morals and just fakes them to try and make a niche and brand for herself in the eco vegan market but people are realising she’s not, her brand is bland, boring and entitled

I am slightly obsessed with cash back, from sorting out car insurance, renewing a phone contract (sim only) and house hold bills I have got around £500 cash back. I’m sure all those shopping hauls add to it

Exactly. The best kind of sustainability and minmalism is to not buy things in the first plce, and make do and mend, surely. Replacing perfectly functional cupboard doorknobs and buying a hot tub whilst saying you're hoping to get another better hot tub in the future that will be powered by renewable energy is just... cognitive dissonance. A hot tub surely doesn't come under minimalism or sustainability. She's sold out.

I certainly need to work on being less wasteful but at least I am not sitting in one hot tub rambling on about how it's not their forever-hot tub. And I'm not shilling random crap to viewers.

10k per ad, wow. And with 8 out of her last 12 Insta posts are ads, and that’s only since 22 July. It’s pure greed, no one needs that much money. That it’s under the guise of sustainability and minimalism is galling. Considering the state of the planet it is fiddling while Rome burns.

I'm in support of people earning whatever. especiaslly in a career like youtube where your relevancy is limited to few years so make the money while you can. but it's questionable when the youtuber is positioning themselves as a sustainable minimalist. there's a point where you have to say no to things because it goes against your principles. how is shilling products minimalist? it's not, at all.

i went back to look at her style and noticed the pala eyewear "throwback" to show how long she's been wearing their sunglasses... how many sunglasses does she own??? nobody needs that many.
