Lisa Lansing (minimalist vegan youtuber living in a tiny house in Poland) did exactly this. Just a simple registry office wedding, everyday clothes, no rings and a lunch in a restaurant afterwards..... no spending on catering, photographers, venue, decor etc. Each to their own, but someone tell M that she doesn't *need* an aesthetic wedding with all the pomp in order to get hitched, especially when aligning herself with sustainability.

* Just caught up with Lisa's channel after a break and it appears they have to move out of their tiny home. They put so much work into creating that space, but seem to be taking it okay. Would recommend her channel if anyone is interested in living with less, van life etc.

I can watch the so called renovations out of curiosity but if she starts posting wedding prep videos for an ostentatious Cornish wedding I will unfollow. The wedding industry is ducked and so unsustainable. I have an interest in peoples' homes hence why I'm still watching her content but I really couldn't care less about someone's wedding.

That is exactly the wedding we had (we bought my dress/his suit new but not expensive). We all had a lovely day and wouldn't have done it any other way!

To stay on topic, I'm getting fed up of the sense of entitlement and importance. Putting a post up for "recommendations" for their wedding is thinly veiled begging. She knows lots will be gifted in return for a tag/ad. In this current financial climate it turns my stomach.

The ad stories for the drive in cinema, she hasn’t stated where it is or what they’re watching, no link to what’s coming up. Tickets for that are something ridiculous like £30 per car and then £10 per person on top. I know she was probably under no obligation to post but it’s so bleeping lazy.

I get the impression that she does not even really like gardening. She just likes the idea of gardening. If I was in her shoes I would be obsessed with planning and planting my garden. Not just trimming things to make it look neater.

That comment is really well written. I like them phrasing it as "I know you strive" partly because that's all Madeleline does. She aims to be sustainable, but only insofar as it is convenient or beneficial to her. As soon as sticking to her principles would mean less sponsorships, or cost more, or be too much of a hassle, or take too long...she makes the 'conscious decision' to turn a blind eye.

What have they been doing all week if there's nothing to upload today!? Also, how does pressing the button to upload equate to having a break from the 'house drama'? This makes it sound as if all their time has been consumed by a leak, but unless they've spent all day every day fixing it themselves I genuinely don't understand why this would stop them going into their office and editing a video. Unless the video is a vlog and it's just footage of them complaining about the leak and blaming other people. Surely spending time in the office would also be a welcome break FROM the house drama, as it's a separate building.

I don't have Instagram so maybe I've missed something.... am I being dense here!?

ETA with regards to the previous post about her complaining about the plumber/ not being listened to.....

A. He told her to keep an eye on it. She did, it got worse so she can contact him again. That's why he told her to keep an eye on it. I'm not sure where her expectation that tradespeople are magical beings who can fix everything with a click of their fingers has come from.

B. Leaks are notoriously difficult to locate, which I'm sure Google would tell her. Sometimes where the water appears isn't where the issue is. I've previously had water coming through the floorboards and had someone knocking holes in the walls trying to locate the issue, which was in another room. (Side note, it went on for months, my flat had so much water damage and smelt horrible but I still went into work).

This wedding is going to be fascinating. I predict some key performative displays of sustainability eg a rented or second hand dress. These decisions will be heavily mentioned as a distraction from all the other excessive & unnecessary elements.

And then also some things that appear carefree and casual, like wildflower crowns for hair, paper lanterns… all giving a relaxed surface level appearance when in reality it’s the most uptight stressful event of all time because the anxious bridezilla is on the verge of having a breakdown because the rented chairs are the wrong shade of putty and there is one cousin who will not adhere to the unofficial dress code and she’s wrecking all the photos.
