What does Alex actually do? Does he have some kind of secret job on the side, because I just can't work it out. Maddie even has someone take all her photos for her so he doen't even do that. I know Alex used to do some of the editing, but the quality and amount of material she puts out is really nothing to write home about. I have to say I hate the start of her videos at the moment with the highlights reel. There's just an air of self importance about it I dislike.

I thought he worked for her, although doing what is unclear. It's a shame, I used to really enjoy her content when it was more 'vegan cooking on a budget' and them doing up their first house.

Now it's just whining from a place of immense privilege and wastefulness, which really grates during an actual crisis. Influencer life isn't hard, if you think you've got it tough go and volunteer in a food bank, you spoiled babies.

I was just going to say this thread isn’t *that* negative. I won’t deny that some threads on Tattle are really horrible and toxic (any that are too personal about looks for example), but this one so far is fairly constructive. I get it, I wouldn’t want to read 500+ comments from people who don’t like what I do but she shouldn’t be reading it. Influencers make that mistake time and time again. We aren’t commenting on her videos or her feed. She’s choosing to read here. Yet of course she’s being bullied by trolls

Goodness she’s silly. I found tattle because of influencers continually banging on about online trolls. Their comments were always ass-kissing so I wondered where these trolls were coming from. Did a quick google and found quite a lovely community of people. I don’t know whose sad life she’s talking about but it ain’t mine. I’m quite fulfilled and ADORE my privacy.
Moreover, I take issue with her statement and request that people do not follow her life. Then why are you online? Why do you show the front and outside of your house and literally every silly thought that plonks in your head. So you’re okay with only some people following you and not all? Cool cool cool.

God yes, the nasty passive aggressive rant about tradesmen really showed her true colours. I own a trade business and we are flat out trying to meet demand along with dealing with a global shortage in building materials. Most of us are dealing with a backlog of customers who had jobs cancelled due to multiple lockdowns and we are trying to be fair and get to the people who have been waiting the longest After that, we focus on clients who need urgent work done like disability adaptations or repairs. Yes it can be frustrating when you've been told a job will be started on a particular day, but sometimes it just doesn't happen due to range of factors outside of out control. All of this plus we are doing our best to support our amazing team of workers who have also been through shit over this last year.

Sound to me like she's been put on the 'C u next Tuesday' list by local firms because of her nasty attitude.

I bailed on her channel ages ago. She had literally one recipe that I enjoyed and that was everything I ever gained from her YT. She makes no effort to even be likable. She films herself feathering her own nest and expects everyone else to care and support her passion projects. I wouldn’t watch her videos now if she was paying her audience. I find her to be rude and boring.

I didn't realize she went to St Andrews university. I think she is just from an extremely privileged background and her privilege is just seeping out now. She can no longer contain it.

This is kind of what I have been thinking. I think she wants a nice middle class lifestyle like her parents. Big house and all the trappings(the aga, the volvo, the spaniel). That's fine, absolutely, go for it but you built your following on something quite different so I don't think you can be surprised when they aren't so keen anymore. I think she should come out and say look sustainability/minimalism was something I used as a means to an end, to enable me to get what I wanted and I've done that so I will be stamping that out and focusing on plant-based recipes.

You can't say you are about minimal living like she does in her bio when all you seem to mean is some white walls and a few second hand buys. I feel bad saying it because she seems harmless enough but that desperation to be seen as solidly middle class that she is displaying lately isn't for me.

Does anyone know why the books in the shelf in the lounge all have their spines to the wall? Is it so they fit into her dreary beige/grey 'natural' aesthetic? If that's the case it's incredibly lame and pretentious.

It's a good way for your books to get damaged as well.... which is why books have covers, who knew! I always wonder how anyone locates specific books if they can't see the spines. I love being able to see all my books, they add chatacter to the room!

A minute into the new video she says it's 'seemingly part of the tradesmen culture not to turn up'. I used to really like Maddie, but after everything recently this for me is the last straw. Feels like her real entitled nature is really coming through. I'm unsubscribing.

I've always had an inkling that behind the scenes she was kind of an entitled brat and that's been confirmed over and over again in the last couple of months. I can't stand influencers who are so quick to turn their nose up or pass judgment on other (actual) jobs/careers when they do contribute nothing of real value to the world.

But then she goes and says: "They are too expesive and lovely for me to even consider getting rid of." And then she mentiones three out of these five sets were actually gifted. Good god she came across as so smug in the tour. I understand that she's excited but the swanning around was a bit much. Ridiculous to hold off on the garden tour as well, she could definitely have milked "spring garden, summer garden update" etc. I'm surprised that they're keeping single glazed windows, that's not very eco friendly, is it Maddy? Especially on top of that bloody Aga.

I think the house is a good size, idk where you people live that you think it's small?! I do live in a 1920s terraced shoebox though, so maybe it's all about perspective. They also have too much furniture in the living room, poorly laid out, which probably makes it look small.

The aesthetic looks like it's been cannibalised from Country Living magazine, which I'm not actually mad about because I've been subscribed to it for 2 years now

Nope, still don't understand what she does with her day other than being a self-entitled whiny princess in her mouldy Georgian-Country-House. So her sister does all her business planning for her (and likely negotiates with brands), her boyfriend edits her vlogs, and her friend takes the pictures? (and presumably edits those as well). So again, what exactly does this ninny do other than play with her hair in front of the camera and make posing faces (seriously what IS it with the stupid hand gestures like the hand below the chin or on the side of the face?). Other that that she takes the dog for a walk, goes the the gym, eats lunch and makes a weekly meal plan. Give me strength!

Interesting she said they wanted to go to 'quality' rather than quantity content. I'm guessing she's trying to target a much wealthier audience who have a massive disposable income to spend on countless bottles of serum and home decor products. The same audience who buy one beeswax vegan wax lunch cloth and act like they are saving the planet. News flash: just because a product calls itself 'botanical' or 'eco' it doesn't mean that it's a good choice for the environment, and at the end of the day it's just more stuff to hoard in your Georgian-country-house bathroom. There isn't really any difference between Madeleine and a used-car-dealer flogging junk cars...although the car dealer is probably more honest because he's not pretending to be anything other than what he is.

In all fairness most vegans eat at places that aren't exclusively vegan, it's near impossible to eat at 100% vegan places all of the time. While some will choose not to support those places at all, those of us who order the vegan/ veggie options do so knowing that it increases the demand for vegan options (like when Greggs introduced their vegan sausage roll). Different people have different views and it's hard knowing where to draw the line, for example if I do my shopping at Tesco and only buy their vegan produce is that also ethically wrong because Tesco also produce and sell many meat options?

I think the KFC chips are only considered non vegan because of the risk of cross contamination, which most vegans and veggies have different boundaries for as well. Personally I'm not massively fussed, as long as I'm not eating meat or an animal based products, but I know some would prefer to avoid altogether.

ETA I know this wasn't the case for Maddie, but it's also really good having vegan options at places like KFC if you're eating somewhere with meat eaters!

Maddie posted on Instagram stories in quite a passive aggressive way saying the sustainability police were in her DMs and said that if it wasn’t already obvious the wardrobes were there when they moved in and they didn’t buy them.

There’s a way to address things without being like that. When your income and the house you are now living in was only achievable because of people watching your videos, buying your books etc, coming across passive aggressive, blunt and rude on social media isn’t a great look tbh.

Lisa Lansing (minimalist vegan youtuber living in a tiny house in Poland) did exactly this. Just a simple registry office wedding, everyday clothes, no rings and a lunch in a restaurant afterwards..... no spending on catering, photographers, venue, decor etc. Each to their own, but someone tell M that she doesn't *need* an aesthetic wedding with all the pomp in order to get hitched, especially when aligning herself with sustainability.

This. Have a feeling the next 9 months will entail:

'we got the wrong flavour cake, life is so unfair!'
'my dress isn't right, I'm just soo stressed'

I mean her and Alex have been together over 10 years, owned multiple properties together and work together, he wasn't exactly in a rush to propose A big showy wedding will just be to show off how much money she has to her friends (and probably trying to out do her sister lol!)
