I do like some of her content, but I unfollowed her because of how she always goes on about how bad being online is for her and that’s she’s taking a break and fridays are always a big show because of course she is taking the weekend off and she has to bang on about it. She’s entitled to all of those things of course but it shouldn’t be her content.

This idea of a “dream home” is subjective. What is a dream home to her, wouldn’t necessarily be the dream home to someone else, not their style, location etc. Influencers who move home and keep people guessing just come across smug and full of themselves thinking people will be on the edge of their seats to find out what it looks like when there’s a chance a lot of people will be like “it’s not the kind of house I would live in”. Show it if you’re going to show it and if you’re not stop banging on about it because people really aren’t as bothered as these influencers think.

I just want to say I messaged her a while back, a polite message, just letting her know that it’s the law in England for your dog to have a collar and a tag when out walking (I had seen a lot of stories where Roxie only had a harness on). She gave me such a snotty response, something along the lines of, I doubt anyone is going to pull me up when I walk her in the countryside where we hardly see anyone else. I was literally just telling her the law as she was clearly new to owning a dog at the time!!

Ah yes but that's the law for other people, not for her. She lives a charmed life on the countryside in a Cornish Period Georgian Rennovated Minimalist Sustainable home, not like the rest of us.

What an attitude to have though.

I'm vegan and I can understand someone being able to avoid a lot of these places if they live somewhere like London with lots of vegan restaurants, but in a town like mine, there just aren't the options. I think it makes veganism a lot more accessible to people if they have an option in places like Greggs or Pret as there's usually one of those in most towns. To only shop at vegan supermarkets you would need a rather large trust fund.

Watched the most recent video because of the clickbait title :-? Okay so she's calling out the 'mean, miserable people online'. So it's okay for her to call online people miserable.?! Doesn't make sense. This thread is constructive critism because we feel disappointed In her brand and what it was all about. We need more people and people with large platforms talking about Sustainability - we are in a emergency climate crises! Geez she even wrote a book about Sustainability (didn't you know!) As someone pointed out who has only recently started watching Maddie, they never knew she was about Sustainability, which proves the point even more.
With her mental health issues, I really do hope she recovers and get the right help. Anxiety is awful. She seems to have a lot of issues and I wonder what the deep rooted cause is. Her mental health issues appear to have started long before this thread did.

I think some threads on this site can be really mean spirited and pretty vile. But most of the time I think it's just a place for people to discuss their disappointment in youtubers that they once admired, and Maddies thread here seems to be mostly that. It's bound to happen when most influencers heavily moderate any and all comments and only allow praise, and the slightest criticism or question worded the wrong way is either met with a really passive aggressive response, getting dogpiled by other commenters who blindly follow the person, or get blocked. I think we can safely say that most people here don't bother leaving comments on her SM, and come here to discuss it instead, there's no trolling. Maddie is actively seeking out this thread when she could just ignore it and I imagine it's frustrating when for the first time, she can't block/delete/control what others have to say about her behaviour because every other space online has turned into an echo chamber of praise for herself.

She is toxic youtuber under the guise of a minimalist. Toxic to those people who are trying to keep up with her sponsored ads thinking the products are good for the environment. But all she is doing is promoting waste and putting people in debt.
Cheap looking sunglasses for £125?. Really? This is what you want your subscribers buying? We are in a pandemic with people losing their jobs! Maddie grinning on the beach promoting these? Reality check please.
These are the subscribers that made her make money on youtube. Look after them, don't take advantage of them. They are her bread and butter.
Lets see recycling and upcycling what we have, charity and boot sales and living off a budget.
Title it Luxury on a budget!!

The more I see of that house the more I dislike it. Sure the kitchen and dining room are nice, but the poky living room and general lack of space on the ground floor make it feel really awkward. There's just no space and certainly not much room for kids to play indoors particularly in bad weather/winter. Sure the garden looks nice and will be amazing in summer, but personally I'd much prefer to have a decent size family/living area downstairs. I'd also rather have an office space incorporated into the house.

God she's so dreary and dull that even the dog is desperate to escape! Good luck with that - there's no way that useless plastic mesh will contain a canine escape-artist. Roxy will be under that in 5 seconds flat.
She's such a control freak but doesn't really want to actually put in the work herself...I noticed she was already referring to 'our gardener'.
Gotta love the way this 'sustainability queen' spends huge amounts on plastic-wrapped snacks, hair products, and renovations.

I get the feeling there's a bit of buyer's remorse occurring now she realises the property needs a lot of work. I think they will just do a basic cosmetic tidy-up before flipping it. I STILL don't understand why anyone would buy a property with such a tiny living room. Where on earth are friends/family supposed to sit if you want them to come round to watch movies or something - the bedrooms? There is literally nowhere for anybody to hang out other than the kitchen or lined up facing each other in the teeny lounge.

I feel like she has the wrong name... it should be 'Karen-Olivia' instead of Madeleine Olivia because she's such a moany control freak.
OMG the bedside tables are too orange...it's the end of the world!! She doesn't seem to have many friends other than family and I am wondering if that is because she's so controlling that people can't relax around her. The way she speaks to Alex sometimes (and he's pretty annoying) is just so bossy and rude and condescending. I guess this is what happens when you have never really lived or worked in the real world outside of a sheltered bubble surrounded by people who constantly try to appease you in order to avoid the temper tantrums when something doesn't go the way you want it to.

This wedding is going to be fascinating. I predict some key performative displays of sustainability eg a rented or second hand dress. These decisions will be heavily mentioned as a distraction from all the other excessive & unnecessary elements.

And then also some things that appear carefree and casual, like wildflower crowns for hair, paper lanterns… all giving a relaxed surface level appearance when in reality it’s the most uptight stressful event of all time because the anxious bridezilla is on the verge of having a breakdown because the rented chairs are the wrong shade of putty and there is one cousin who will not adhere to the unofficial dress code and she’s wrecking all the photos.

Never mind what the law says, wouldn’t you want a collar and tag on your rescue dog who’s recall isn’t perfect and who likes to escape your garden?

I'm usually a lurker but I'm glad someone started a thread on her. Obviously she's allowed to move house and can understand needing somewhere bigger if they are both at home and can afford it but I did find the video came across quite tone deaf stressing about a privileged move during a pandemic.

I've been getting fed up with her for a while now. Its felt like the sustainability angle she pushes for is quite disingenuous with all the brand deals and beauty products, which might be vegan but are usually in plastic and don't really have any other eco credentials. It all feels very shallow.

Will be interesting to see how the renovation goes on the new house. Construction and building works are a minefield for unethical and unsustainable options. (discovered recently that a lot of patio stones can involve child labour if you don't pick fair-trade ones!). Beyond getting a few things second hand and vegan I don't think they've really talked about renovating to reduce heat loss or switching from a gas boiler etc. So again it feels pretty shallow and disingenuous to me.

I remember her doing an e-book of vegan stuff which was in conjunction with some fairly iffy contributors e.g. US anti vaxxers. When called out on it, she barely acknowledged it in a video whilst still shilling the book. She's just a greenwasher, tbh.

I also find Alex's persona grating, and you could tell how pissed off he was in this video. If you don't want to be on YouTube, just say no. Although, he is part of her 'brand' now.
