I know a woman who did this to their baby, or apparently did. If I remember rightly the baby was about one but then I'm unsure if she'd done it before as I remember her saying about her being unwell quite often, but you assume they mean with a bug or something!
I worked with her, I knew she'd had mental health issues as she talked about it a lota and and I felt for her, but she seemed happy when I knew her and she would say her baby saved her. Her daughter seemed to have helped her start her life again which I thought was amazing, she seemed a great mum, and talked about her baby all the time. She did talk about her diabetes as she was type 1.
I know one night she messaged another colleague asking what she'd do if her baby was not responding and strange things like that. Of course she said take her to hospital! But at work she would come in and just say she was fine when they next saw her.
I wasn't aware of this at first.
She then disappeared and her daughter was in hospital. It all went quiet and nobody really knew what had gone on as she never came back and all was quiet. I didn't know if she was suffering with her mental health again, but she carried on posting her daughter on social media as normal.
She was on the work schedule for a long time, a long time after that it turned out it was because she wasn't allowed back until it was all sorted and she was cleared (health care setting)
So it turned out that her daughter had been taken off her as the hospital said she was ill from insulin poisoning. Of course my colleague denied doing this but I'm gathering they must have found it in her system?
She never came back to work, since had another child which has been taken away from her. I do wonder what happened with police, but obviously social services stepped in and she obviously wasn't allowed back to work.
It's terrible all round. I do wonder if she was doing it for the attention that she got if her daughter was ill or something.
Different circumstances I know but thought I'd share.
