I would think only if they’re diabetic like in normal circumstances of having to receive insulin, it’s usually 2 nurses in hospitals that give it too. Where I worked though it’s not locked away like controlled drugs are but not sure about other trusts.

Our daughter was in hospital at 18 months with blood sugars so low they triggered seizures and she didn’t eat for days but they never gave her insulin, only glucose IV.

Same in our hospital 2 person check and administer but not locked away with CDs
I really hope she’s innocent. Not because I don’t want the parents to get justice, of course I do. I simply couldn’t go on if I lost my little girl. (My daughter is of an age, where a lot of the babies would be, had they lived)
If she has done this.. it’s just the most awful thing ever. Not only will she have stolen those babies lives; she’s ruined their parents & families lives, HER parents lives, her friends and those that love her.

It looks like it is just the 2 babies who were poisoned? And 'sabotaging' in the other cases? Those poor parents. I do hope she's innocent of it, but someone has certainly administered the insulin.
Using insulin is a common way that medical professionals have murdered. I’ve never worked in a medical setting but don’t you have to document any medicine or any medical equipment that is taken from storage, could that be a way they pinpointed her?

That sounds right, babies would need IV glucose for low blood sugars levels but insulin itself lowers blood sugar levels if they’re too high say if someone was diabetic. So wouldn’t be given along with the IV glucose.

Hi all, just started following this case with zero knowledge of nursing so appreciate all those with medical backgrounds checking in with their insights.
I’ve read that she’s charged with attempting murder on two children multiple times during a day (awful if true) and wondering what kind of evidence may have shown that was the case?If there’s clear evidence of something like that it surely looks much more incriminating than a possible scapegoat situation? Please correct me if I’m wrong!

This is of course very speculative from my part and making a lot of assumptions based on the small bit of info we have so far: but it is not difficult to get hold of insulin. Regardless of whether or not she was allowed to administer it.
Only controlled drugs usually are locked away and signed for in a seperate book. The trust I work for and many more you don’t sign out insulin, although you’d document that it’s been given on patients’ medication administration sheets within their notes at the time it’s prescribed etc.
