I think literally the next statement, or perhaps a few after, there is a nurse describing how because of the positioning of the incubators, Letby was with baby Q and this nurse had her back to Letby to feed her des. baby. Then Letby leaves and straight away baby Q’s alarms begin to go off.

Whenever anyone says there isn't physical evidence to prove criminality, I want to shout "Beverley Allitt" at them..... it was the exact same in her case

Val Thomas… this is chilling and not detail we’ve really heard before. This was the fourth incident before the baby died Ashleigh Hudson also testified she was outside room 1 so Letby had been on her own.

Disgusting that the panel’s “conclusion” is just stated like it’s fact. When not a single one of them has been questioned on it publicly let alone in a court under cross examination. They hadn’t even written their bloody report ffs! Has everyone lost their frigging minds?

I find the whole article comparing their murders to SIDS really distasteful and comments she makes about the parents.

None of the parents loved her, they either didn't know who she was or thought she was oddball .

But even so, it doesn’t mean she’s not guilty.

Wasn’t Allitt was made a godparent or something? (@MmmB777 will remind us!) and a similar thing for Shipman too?

I had to agree with one of the commenters in the Mail the other day when they asked Peter Hitchens if he fancies LL or something.

It is bizarre to see all these high level professionals showing so much support for a convicted baby killer when I dont't think they've ever campaigned for anyone like this before.

I feel it is a class issue. They don't want a "nice middle class" young lady to be or be thought of as capable of such a crime. It's telling from that those supporting her all seem to be wealthy elities unless I'm wrong on that? But in the media certainly the loudest voices are at least middle/upper middle class themselves.

It's sickening.

" Knee jerk assumption of guilt" and " witch hunt" is a bit much when the verdicts were a result of a ten month trial. The media is now trying to make out that anyone who doesn't think she's innocent is closed minded.

I've not read the article, but I don't think the babies's deaths can be compared to SIDS as the babies were in a hospital, fully monitored with all the medical expertise to resuscitate them.

Now I have read the latest Thirwall evidence it appears to me that the innocuous reports from most of the nurses seems to show they are still experiencing the fear factor. If they had reported under strict anonymity maybe they might have expressed truer feelings that they had for Letby. Maybe they have some residual guilt. Their statements and recommendations contrast with those of the parents. I once was a whistle-blower in the public sector, I had no doubts about what I was doing and was made to feel quite the hero. I lost so much confidence in the team of 30 people I worked closely with who didn't whistle blow when I had been on leave following an accident. I could go on and on about staff dynamics and rotten apples .

Yes the parents of the twins. Allitt went in the ambulance with them to Nottingham. They thought she was kind and caring. She cried with them. They let her take the surviving twin out for a walk and she came back unwell. They nearly made her godmother. They hired a private investigator to help prove her innocence. So many people discuss Allitt as if she was this batshit tit smeared psycho but she was jolly, friendly and well liked. The village babysitter. Her family still think she’s innocent.

Shipman had a huge amount of support in Hyde. Locals were very hostile to any media that turned up and loudly supported shipman. Many would go on to find he’d killed a relative. One of his most vocal supporters went on to find out shipman had in fact killed both his parents.

This is from JJK at the trial. I remember a few like this too. Even Booth said positive things about her but given his statement seems to now accept she harmed the babies.

I don't mind Anne Diamond (and admire her regarding her input with regard to reducing SIDS/ cot deaths in infants) but don't think she's the smartest tool in the box. Certainly not capable of the levels of analysis and in-depth research required to understand this case. CBA to read her article/commentary on this but she was always more a presenter than journalist. Did she follow the trial in any detail?
