and it’s been said more than once before that we are not on the jury and we are allowed to form a view based on what’s been heard so far. That’s the whole point of these threads so people can discuss it. Not a single person here is hearing all the evidence as we are not in court. None of us could make a decision either way. But we are not responsible for that anyway so it doesn’t matter.

Likewise could be said for those saying innocent, we have barely touched the surface so far. But people can lean towards innocent if they feel what they have heard is not strong enough. The beauty is we are human and have different perspectives and opinion. What someone thinks is reasonable another might not.

tbh it would be a pretty boring thread if we all agreed we must stick to innocent until proven guilty. May as well all go away and come back in six months.
I haven't really seen anyone settle on innocent, but plenty have settled on guilty.

Absolutely this! So have I…. For all we know people that worked with her didn’t like her because she was good at her job. That’s me now speculating, but really, my gut instinct right now isn’t telling me guilty.

Tacky or not it doesn’t make you a murderer which is what she’s being accused of.
But the whole trial isn’t just based on the text messages and the Facebook searches so maybe they have other evidence that proves she did it . I don’t understand why everybody is arguing on here about the Facebook searches 🤷🏻‍♀️

To be searching families YEARS later is very odd to me, days later I can understand … not something I would personally do but I can see if she was checking on them.

Years later on Christmas Day 😮🥴
That is not normal behaviour.

Probably more a case that despite her denying it it would have been obvious from her search history.
Someone just said she didn’t deny it but couldn’t remember. Maybe if she did search so many she couldn’t remember specifically who she searched. Also as I said these are still agreed facts so possibly now she’s gone back on not searching and said she did do it

Because there isn’t much else to argue about yet. 😂

I don't think anyone has argued that pleading not guilty means you aren't guilty. I was merely pointing out that if the defence felt the evidence against her was overwhelming they would have advised her to plead guilty or gone for a diminished responsibility defence. The fact they didn't do that suggests to me that the evidence is woolly. But that doesn't mean she didn't do it.
Oh no, read over the previous threads, they have! 😂

We have 208 unsure/not guilty on the poll and 308 guilty. Interesting to see if that changes in the next thread.

By some people's reactions to the Facebook searches, I'm also a potential murder suspect. Good to know :censored::censored::censored:

Just having a think about the whole denying the Facebook searches.
Does it mean that she’s agreed she had searched them since these are the agreed facts??
Gone back on her police interview? If so I don’t find that suspicious as I’m sure a police interview would scare you especially with what she’s being accused with. Later when she’s seen the evidence or just not being under interview pressure she could’ve remembered?
They have evidence from her computer so like she said in her interviews, she accepts it if the evidence says so, but can’t say why she did. She can’t really deny it if there is concrete evidence like that. It would be a clear lie if she denied it.

I think some people are just getting carried away with the Facebook searches . We have a whole six months yet and usually they save the best evidence till last so it’s fresh in the jury’s minds . Apart from the Facebook searches it’s clear Lucy was always on shift and always caring for the child before collapsing and that’s not right … clearly it didn’t happen with the other nurses and that’s why Lucy is on trial for the deaths . I think people need to just wait and see what happens .

I'm reading todays evidence feeling like I'm reading the defence. All I'm hearing is (sadly) details about very poorly babies who have unfortunately deteriorated. The quote today from the Dr was 'she didn't know what baby to attend to first' - nothing about that says that they were stable and healthy and unexpected to have complications.
just because they were poorly doesn’t mean they can’t have been murdered/attempted to be murdered. Both can be true.

Really?? I have seen plenty. Hence my comment. Suppose that just goes to prove we are selective beings and we can all be guilty of seeing what we want to see!
I've only seen posts that said what I said, which is that you generally would only be advised to plead not guilty if your defence felt you had a decent ish chance of not being convicted, meaning the evidence against you was not strong.

If people have literally said "pleading not guilty means you aren't guilty" then that is patently ridiculous. But I haven't seen that.

I’ve been reading these threads since the end of the first one and I never saw anyone say this.

I agree, I think it’s just that the prosecution have painted this picture that all of the babies were healthy and that the deaths were complete shocks, but it seems at least for these particular babies they had complications that could have contributed. Will be interesting to hear more.

Can anyone with legal knowledge explain if the CPS can cherry pick charges or if they had to proceed with them all?
Long time since I studied that part of the law but if I remember rightly its all down to "the probablity of success" i.e. a conviction. I THINK they have to be 80% convinced before its signed off on.

I'm not going to go back and quote them but it was thrown around that she surely wouldn't want to plead not guilty and put the family's through the trauma if she really was guilty. It was a very nieve take in my opinion but shared by a few at the time.

Oh well I didn't see that but I don't agree with that at all, if she is guilty of such a heinous crime then she wouldn't care about that.

While I agree, and personally cba with the nastiness/aggression that often accompanies emotive threads like these, it would make things really dull for a long time if people can’t go back and forth on their opinions. The thread is a hot topic atm and trending because of the debates.
