Oh wow. Can we assume then that they have good reason to believe there is a lot more to be investigated?
There will be further enquiry and report with recommendations written after. An example is the Clothier report which came after the Beverly Allitt case.

A few people have said it’s been a slow day but I think there’s still been a lot to digest and get your head around as they recap over each baby.

I agree. It’s been exhausting hearing the parent statements and I’m sure overwhelming for the jury who maybe haven’t seen medical records before it’s an awful lot to take in for anyone.

Yeah I’d say the complete opposite, for me there’s already been too much to get through tbh. duck being on that jury

It’s the name of the police investigation into the baby deaths at the hospital/Lucy Letby.
that is interesting, stupid question but is it running separetly to this trial?
just seen the job advertisement wow, is that not technically in breach of trial?

Yes sorry I mean slow as in fewer updates to copy and paste into wiki compared to last week with the opening statements. I think there has been longer gaps between the updates. If it was like the opening statements I don’t think I could keep up with it on a daily basis but I’ll see how it goes.

Thanks for doing the wiki. It really helps to refer back to when they mention each baby.

I agree the content (family statements) is heavy and a lot to digest. So not ‘slow’ in that respect

Interesting that temp is one of the causes and the baby mentioned today there was no record of temp on their med notes
I found that really interesting too. It sounded like the babies were very poorly to begin with.

That's how I meant too. There seems to be a longer time between updates but not much writing once the update comes. The actual info itself has been quite a bit to remember

Do you interpret that as meaning baby is unlikely to have had a temp if none recorded at any point or more that it was lax recording across the board?

I agree with this. One had to be ventilated and they were only around the 28 week mark so I don’t think they were quite as stable as noted. I’m not sure if the mother having a blood disorder will have had any impact on them either.

I see it as lax recording because whatever temperature the baby was it should have been noted - whether it was high, low or within normal ranges.

Please don't forget to reach out to Bliss, Twins Trust any other organisation listed in the Wiki if you're affected by the trial and are struggling.
I think this week's information will be really hard to digest for everyone.
Sending lots of love to anyone affected by NICU or Baby Loss. ❤

In which case, it will be intriguing to see how the prosecution try and spin it toward LL when it was problematic for all recording. Wonder how lax the other records were as you would have thought temp was quite a significant thing tonote down for such tiny babies as they can deteriorate very quickly

Aside from the strange court sketches, one of the news articles reported Letby as sitting in the dock, looking straight ahead and showing no emotion.
If I was in court accused of a crime I didn’t commit, I wouldn’t be sitting showing no emotion whatsoever especially if I was innocent. I’d be crying non stop I’d imagine. I wonder if she’s been told to show no emotion?
I was just going to say the same thing - especially with family recollection of events, seeing their emotion etc you'd just be as emotional surely because you'd be re living the situation with them. Heartbreaking.

Yes, it sounds like babies were very poorly and there was lax procedures across the board. Low temp can cause mottling - so were babies deteriorating beforehand already? :(

Yea I wonder is that detail something the defence added in “there are other hours on the chart prior to that where the temperature is not recorded either” to give a fuller picture.

I feel like there will be people (just generally speaking, not accusing anyone here) who will say ‘well the babies were really poorly anyway’ as if that means that’s the only explanation for the babies dying/collapsing. Even the defence suggested it on some of the children. And I think this is really unfair to the babies and the families when we are going to hear how unexpected and unusual it was and likely hear from multiple medical experts why this is. The sickest babies could still have been murdered. But they deserve to have other possible causes considered and not just ‘written off’ as being sick and premature.

It’s all relative and I’m sure experienced PICU Consultants would know a lot better than us.
Even with my inexperience a baby breathing in air sounds pretty good.
It said the mum had seriously high blood pressure and that was the reason for the early births. I’m not sure if this was related to her blood condition or a separate issue.
Not being funny but all the babies were in NICU so would need intensive medical intervention (level 2 though not level 3) which doesn’t mean they were not expected to survive.
