@Caledonianprincess as someone who simply doesn't produce milk I salute you. ❤

Here's a YNW MellyxLucy Letby remix for you all.

I wake up in the morning I got murder on my mind
Dr Noname said one day he will be all mine
Hating Dr Ravi tryna knock me off my grind
But I can't let him do it, I got murder on my mind. 🎶

My mum said I should keep going as I managed longer with wee Caledonian. Yes that's true but that was 8yrs ago. This time round I've had mastitis 4 times and 2nd time for thrush and I've just had enough. I want to sleep with no bra on, I want to be able to get up and not think right I can only do x y and z before I need to feed and mostly I want my body back
Tell your Mum- Auntie Della off the t'interweb said its not a pissing competition!

You've done your best and who can ask for more?
You cannot pour from am empty cup. Give yourself peace and let your big it rest too.

Can I have a hand hold please? I've been breastfeeding mini Caledonian for 8wks as of today but I need to stop for my mental health as it's starting to really dip and today I was ready to walk out my front door and not come back home for a while. I want to have me back but slightly sad that I'm "giving" up but I know I need to put my mental health first
Givin you the biggest hug ever. You’ve done amazing!

@Caledonianprincess NO guilt please young lady! You've done brilliantly, through some really hard times, time to look after yourself - put your own oxygen mask on first and all that. Managed 8 days with oldest - she now has a 2.1 degree and works on superyachts. Less than 2 days with youngest - she also has a 2.1 degree and works in Formula One. Both in their dream jobs... that breast feeding malarkey is such a super short period of time when you take the long view xxx

You definitely not giving up and please do not see it like that. You need to do what is right for both you and baby Caledonian and that is having you well and happy.

ETA all mine were bottle fed and seem to have survived ok.

It's sad mothers are made to feel failures if they stop or never start breast feeding. I can't help feeling the benefits are massively exaggerated anyway.
You do you and duck anyone else's opinions.
Favourite 3 songs. I'm stuck in the past with mine.
McArthurs Park. Richard Harris
Life On Mars. David Bowie
God Only Knows. Beach Boys.
You are a lovely group of supporters of eaxh other. Love that. And Tattle doesn't deserve it's bad rep.
Now Mumsnet, that place is pure evil. 👹

Each baby is different and you have to do whatever is best for both of you. Just because you breast fed for longer last time doesn’t really have any relevance on what is happening now. You’ve been amazing going on for so long with those issues but time is right for you to stop - you know you and your body the best and what is right. Take care and don’t beat yourself up, mini Caledonian is lucky to have a such a fabulous mummy 🥰 xxx

Sending tattle love to all of you going through tough times ❤ I’m not good at knowing what to say, my social anxiety has me shuttling between “tell them about something bad that happened to you so they know you understand” and “say a platitude so you’ve at least made some effort” Sorry to say this was the best I could come up with xx
I couldn’t choose 3 songs if my life depended on it so here are the last 3 Alexa played on my “most played”
3 Rivers- Dave
You large b- Bad Manners
Please please please let me get what I want- The Smiths (hate Morrissey but can’t ignore that back catalogue)
I was reading his ‘open letters’ on his site for a while because they were pretty amusing and completely out to lunch . I imagine Johnny Marr just looking at them and sighing now and again.

@Caledonianprincess do not feel guilty for stopping. You’ve been through it, it’s absolutely exhausting having a newborn without chucking other additional things on top. You’ve done well to get to this point! Your bub isn’t bothered where his milk comes from. You know what’s best for you and others can give advice and mean well but they aren’t in your shoes ❤
Just enjoy those baby cuddles 🥰 oh I’d love to sniff a newborn’s head again!xx

You're not giving up, you're switching how he is fed so you can be the best mum. I stopped bf my first at 12 days old and my second at 7 weeks. First time I felt immense guilt, 2nd time I remembered how the weight was instantly lifted off me and my mental health improved dramatically.

@Caledonianprincess when I was struggling with bf, someone said to me “you don’t look at a colleague who’s pissed you off and think - bet they were bottle fed” or a teenager giving you attitude and think “if only that mother had breastfed them a bit longer” which is a trite way of putting it because I know how hard it hits, I’ve been there, but also made me smile and put it into perspective a bit. You’ve done amazingly - remember, the end of this chapter is not the end of your love ❤

You do what's best for you and your mental health ♥ your body has done so many amazing things already growing a beautiful baby ♥ I never breast fed my two and I feel no guilt about it 😂 I was too young with the first to even think about it so I wouldn't with the second either cos I'd feel bad for not doing it with the first one 😂 they're both really clever, taller than all their friends, absolutely flying it ♥ its so hard having a newborn as it is besides pressuring yourself to do something which just isn't suiting you, a bottle or a boob, your baby won't care ♥

I have bought the perfect prep machine and formula then bfed mini me and tomorrow I start on a new feeding journey. I'm unsure if I'm better cutting down slowly or just going for it. I'm sore and engorged a bit as it is and that's with regular feeding

Ps to keep on topic Lucy is a massive jobby 💩🤣

It's *not* giving up, but I know it feels like it does. It's simply switching methods. If you feel like you don't want to stop completely, combi feeding is an option. And if you're completely done (especially with that many bouts of mastitis, I can't even 😱) then it's okay to be done. Get that babe fed in someone else's arms and go and have a shower. Coffee on the back step. A walk. ❤ Sending love. X

4th time of mastitis is more than enough for me. It's hell every time but I've had enough enough now. I walked out this morning and left my keys and phone and was just going to walk til I couldn't anymore but I went to the shop instead for irn bru and went home and told mr Caledonian how I really felt as he knew I hadn't been right. We both cried and cuddled each other then he changed a nappy so clouds and silver linings and all that lol

Good for you, and 8 weeks is amazing! I breastfed for far longer than I should have, with hindsight I should have stopped probably around where you are now but I couldn't let myself and went to around 6m but it really took its toll. I didn't really enjoy maternity leave or parenting until I stopped, loved her to bits but it was hard, I cried before and after most feeds and wish I could go back and do it all again with a bleeping bottle! So you should be proud of yourself for doing it for 8wks but more so for doing what you and your baby need.

Im so sorry you reached that point, but the strength and resilience you have is amazing. Im so glad you reached out here too. Forget a hand hold, I’m sending a (gentle) bear hug - in fact I’ll pick up the bus from where LL left it, I’ll fill it with tattlers and we’ll head north o’ the border for a massive recharging hug for all.
