It is quite anxiety inducing hearing today. If it’s of any reassurance, Myers took a similar tactic with Jordan Monaghan defence and it didn’t work on the jury. I’m trying to find more detail on how he tries to discredit medical experts but this article touches on it. Tbh it sounds like a copy and paste job with the closing speech!

Ben Myers QC, defending, told the jury: “These are awful allegations and you would not be human if you were not upset and maybe angry at the thought of what is alleged in this case.

“The prosecution have a theory, a pattern, they rely upon very heavily.

And he said a dozen medical experts could not say definitively what caused the collapses and deaths of the children, and concluded the cause of their deaths was “unascertained”.

But the allegation of the murder of Logan was built on “very tenuous stuff” Mr Myers told the jury.

This evil so and so was not far from me...he would be dead himself now, had he "walked"
Wow..." a toddler would have resisted"?
He doesn't have talk some rit...yeah..would have had a good chance of fighting off that evil drug pumped thug😡

He says of Letby's 2,318 Facebook searches, "only 31" related to parents' names on the indictment.

Mr Myers says Letby has not searched for things on 'air embolus', or 'forcing in air', or any 'fascination with what's alleged here'.

He says there is no evidence found Letby Googled 'haemophilia' following a conversation between a colleague nd Letby on Child N.

2:39pm

Mr Myers refers to the 2015 and 2016 diaries found at Letby's home.

He says there is nothing in the 2015 diary which is relevant to the indictment.

He asks, if the diaries are relevant, why there is no reference to Child A-K in them.
BIB - why would she Google these things when she'd just done a course on them?

Bit of light-hearted fun, when I first started following the trial in October, I thought I read that Mike Myers was defending LL 🥴🤭 so every time I see "Myers" I think of all these characters who could be defending her 🤣💁🏻‍♀️
Looks like Dr. Evil was up today 😂

The fact Lucy Letby can’t be a murderer as she had a photo of her self smiling on her wall 😆
Was she meant to have photos of her holding up bags of insulin with a death stare.

Excuse you, you must have missed the part where she texts about gossip, races, and salsa and never about doing murders. How could she have been a serial killer and never once mentioned it in all her boring texts?

I know it’s a horrible topic but the fact they’re going down the route of “she’s not guilty cos she didn’t Google her methods” is so joke to me

Exactly, she had just done a course which talked about the risks of air embolism. She was a nurse, she could’ve picked up a textbook, used a work computer, maybe even seen something on tv and there would be no record of that.

Who knew being a barrister was so easy?

"Did she Google it mate? No? Well I think you'll find she's not guilty...."

I've been watching the threads on and off since the trial started... So sorry to dive in! But as we come to a close, if she's found guilty do you think she'll eventually confess?
Personally, I don't think she'll ever confess, unless it's beneficial for her to do so (e.g. like Bev who confessed to some stuff so she could stay in Rampton).

She reminds me of Jeremy Bamber - another narc who still hasn't confessed to the murders he committed in the 1980s. He's trying to appeal even now, despite his version of events having been proved to be impossible.

Oi BM just cos you spent last night googling "how to defend a murderer in court" doesn't mean everyone has to google stuff to know things.

From Reddit. Seems this is BM’s playbook.

Monaghan murdered 2 children and poisoned his partner.

Gosh this is interesting, so really a copy and paste job right enough. I’ve been feeling so uneasy with it this morning when it started so stopped reading the live reporting. I haven’t followed other trials before to this degree and was actually going to ask here earlier if anyone knew how the defence closing statement compares to other high profile trials. Star Hobson for example, was SB’s defence quite persuasive or was it obvious at that point that she’d be found guilty. I guess it’s a completely different example right enough and perhaps not as split like this trial. Just wondered really if there’s no hope the jury won’t be swayed by BM but I know it’s impossible to say.

Most of the fb freaks who came off the fence last week are now back, not just off it, but over it and have her banged to rights, cos he's " brought up some excellent stuff and does not need to prove her innocence"😡😳😳
This scares me..the jury are going to be fed a week full of this nonsense and are going to be left with it when the judge gives his direction..😭

Euggghhhhhh …. So much utter bull today it’s a crime in itself.
How utterly awful for the parents and all involved hearing this crap, yep the years of investigations from the police/consultants/ experts/colleagues are all lying and in on it.
Hundreds of handover sheets/ post it CONFESSIONS/ condolence cards/swipe data/medical evidence to name but a few but nothing to see here.
Does he think the jury were born yesterday ?

I think this is where the judges summing up next week comes in to it, anyone on the jury who may have a wobble this week will be advised to be objective using an applied method of understanding to the case - BM has nothing for anyone to hold on to when both sides are set out objectively.
I haven’t read any of todays live reporting and I don’t feel I’ve missed anything thanks to the thread - might be worth doing the same and stepping back while you feel like this xx

I don't give a damn about her social life (it sounds so dull!). However, it can be proved that she was socialising with colleagues whilst suspended even though she was told not to be in contact with them. This says a lot about her personality and willingness to listen to orhers imo.

Also, the FB searches are just bloody weird...
Exactly. And the point BNE was making is she lied: she told the jury she was isolated and lonely when she was living it up at the races and shagging a married man. And if she'll lie about that how you can believe her about anything else.

No chance while both her parents are still alive
