I find it really baffling that all he is doing is basically slagging off the experts. If I was in the jury now, I’d actually be offended on behalf of these expert witnesses that I’d heard provide details evidence.

I’m confused about what he said about the 2 police meetings suggesting the police told information from the first meeting to dr evans? Couldn’t he just have come up with air embolism after reviewing the medical information?

Also I think it’s unfair that he’s been allowed to insinuate about other babies off the indictment as for all anyone knows, charges for more of these babies may be brought in the future…the prosecution were not allowed to infer this so it’s unfair that he can use it to infer innocence
Yeah and then he just drew a huge amount of air in the babies radiograph imagery. Just for a laugh like.

What an absolute b he is.....
It’s not like Nick from the NCA could have looked at the expert witness database and seen all that info and that it’s literally how these things work.

Orrr uno he might have a point there. I remember getting told off at work then writing down how I’d killed people on purpose because I wasn’t good enough. Madness BM

What is this tit? Was Dr AM supposed to be treating the babies or providing pathology reports? He is a bleeping consultant in perinatal and paediatric pathology. Andreas Marnerides leads the forensic children's pathology service at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

He refers to the subject of the text messages, which are "normal".

She was a "young professional woman with a life", and the messages contain "social activity and banter".

He says only when "you start with a presumption of guilt" can be taken as different.

He refers to the 'go commando' message.

He says a young woman, being cross-examined, being "humiliated" about something 'completely unrelated to what we were talking about', in front of the public, in front of her mum and dad, was inappropriate.

He says "You saw me raise to my feet more than once" about the style of questioning, and the comment about 'running out on your boyfriend [doctor colleague]' was inappropriate.

He adds the messaging was "unremarkable".

He says the basis of Letby being 'bored' was used as the basis of an allegation she went out to kill a baby.

He says "others were doing it at work" [text messaging in the workplace].

He cites four work colleagues who did so, and they were "normal...what you might expect".

He says there is "work, gossip, there is winning at the Grand National, there is salsa dancing...normal things."
i absolutely despise the word ‘banter’. You only ever it see it used to defend awful things someone has said rather than admit they were wrong. And here we have a bloody defence barrister using it.

For the bantz.....

Yeah. Usually to excuse sexism/homophobia/racism etc and blaming the victim for not being able to 'take a joke'.

I've out of sync with following live, had a lovely inset day with all 3 babies and I've just had the quick glance now and I don't think I can read this bull today.

Imagine your only defence is slagging everyone else off.

The bit that got me most in my brief read is the theory of air embolus was taken from animals, not neonatal babies.

Dr BM, how can you get any research, evidence, tests, etc...of air embolus in Neonatal babies? Naturally, it would be morally wrong and LEGALLY impossible to gather that research Unless your name is Lucy Letby of course.

I mean if BM's goal today was to make everyone think he's a bleep then....

The fact Lucy Letby can’t be a murderer as she had a photo of her self smiling on her wall 😆
Was she meant to have photos of her holding up bags of insulin with a death stare.

It is quite anxiety inducing hearing today. If it’s of any reassurance, Myers took a similar tactic with Jordan Monaghan defence and it didn’t work on the jury. I’m trying to find more detail on how he tries to discredit medical experts but this article touches on it. Tbh it sounds like a copy and paste job with the closing speech!

Ben Myers QC, defending, told the jury: “These are awful allegations and you would not be human if you were not upset and maybe angry at the thought of what is alleged in this case.

“The prosecution have a theory, a pattern, they rely upon very heavily.

And he said a dozen medical experts could not say definitively what caused the collapses and deaths of the children, and concluded the cause of their deaths was “unascertained”.

But the allegation of the murder of Logan was built on “very tenuous stuff” Mr Myers told the jury.

He refers to the social media evidence.

He asks what did the evidence give a false impression of - "that she dared to have a social life [in those two years before her arrest]?"

Mr Myers says Letby, in cross-examination, had agreed she would go to the races, and have 'fizz', and go on family holidays.

He says the photos show Letby having a "conventional social life".

He says photos like that rarely show what is going on inside.

He says there is nothing shown from the social life which runs contrary to the distress she was suffering.

He tells the jury: "If you look in the dock [at Lucy Letby], you can see the effect of years of this."
I don't give a damn about her social life (it sounds so dull!). However, it can be proved that she was socialising with colleagues whilst suspended even though she was told not to be in contact with them. This says a lot about her personality and willingness to listen to orhers imo.

Also, the FB searches are just bloody weird...
