I think it's not unusual enough to be associated with that thing. Ian Huntley, Beverley Allitt, Harold (!) Shipman, Rose West, Fred West. I know most of those names belong to older people now but I wouldn't really associate any of them with murderers if I met those people. I think you're safe if it's a girl, it's a pretty name and that horror doesn't deserve a pretty name like that.I hope Lucy doesn’t become synonymous with murder - it’s the name we’ve chosen for this baby (I think mine is a boy though.)
Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Green gables writer) and Lucy from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe are two ‘good’ Lucy’s! But I’ve always liked it from one of the St Claire’s books. But in all honesty the timing might not be great as I’m due around the trial ending. Anyone got any name suggestions?
Probably more that his wife and kids don’t need to be harassed about it. They didn’t have the affair, but they’d inevitably be harassed about hubby/daddy probably shagging a serial killer. They didn’t do anything, they don’t need any blowback.
Additionally, he’d probably stop working as a doctor if he was named due to professional embarrassment. There’s never been issues with his care, only his personal life, and he’s never been accused of a crime. Is it fair to his patients if they lose their doctor because he made a horrendous choice for his bit on the side?

I also love the name Lucy its so pretty but I could never use it after this. If I know someone who once had a dog with a name i couldnt use it so a baby murderer name would never fly.

I don't even register her being a Lucy, I just think of her as LucyLetby in one word (or Sketby, Forgetby, bleep, amongst other nicknames 
). There are horrific people who do horrific things under every name in the world, but I think it's the addition of the surname that gains the notoriety. Like someone said above, Harold doesn't make me think of Dr Death, but as soon as someone says Harold Shipman we're all on that wavelength.

I wholeheartedly agree and I think he's personally learnt a very big lesson. He can't just park his car in anyone's garage, especially if the garage owner has a penchant for storing medical aids
Having said that I hope there has been some implication on his career in terms of all the texting and messaging, I hope he's been reprimanded because he was very unprofessional and very shortsighted.

Anyone still working at the COCH was granted anonymity by the court (which they could waive if they wished). This is quite standard in cases where negligence could be a potential feature and is mainly about protection of reputation as opposed to protection of the witness due to any safety concerns. Some of them have chosen to waive it, likely because not doing so means people are more likely to speculate/make attempts to track people down.Hey - newbie here joining in the last throes here
I’ve read a lot of the wiki - good job what a huge amount of info - but wondering if anyone knows why the doctor hasn’t been named?
I’m a court reporter, in Scotland but most media reporting laws are similar as in England. Normally a witness wouldn’t be named if they were under 18, it’s dangerous for the witness (ie snitching on gang crime) they are the victim of a sex crime or if revealing their name could hinder a future trial.
