Lucy Letby is a murderer+++++++
If memory serves, there are at least two doctors who haven't been named - the male doctor Letby was always texting, and the female doctor who was looking after the triplets and who was horrified to hear Letby say, "He's not leaving here alive, is he?" I don't know anything about the law on court reporting except that minors are normally guaranteed anonymity, which obviously can't be the reason here. In the case of the first doctor it might be for the sake of his children, as having their dad romantically linked with an accused serial murderer in the international press wouldn't be fair on them? I haven't seen any reason suggested for the second doctor's anonymity, but presumably the judge will have had a protocol to follow in deciding to allow it and he must think there are good reasons.Hey - newbie here joining in the last throes here
I’ve read a lot of the wiki - good job what a huge amount of info - but wondering if anyone knows why the doctor hasn’t been named?
I’m a court reporter, in Scotland but most media reporting laws are similar as in England. Normally a witness wouldn’t be named if they were under 18, it’s dangerous for the witness (ie snitching on gang crime) they are the victim of a sex crime or if revealing their name could hinder a future trial.

I agree about the physical violence part, it is horrendous, but injecting air into the abdomen and blood stream is still physically violent, albeit done a far more sneakily. The pain and internal physical destruction caused would be equally horrendous, or more so.
It’s extremely cruel.
Yes why so many were screaming and agitated. It’s not slipping away, it’s a really awful death and even awful for the little ones that survived. Many are brain injured in different levels of severity. Everything she did was beyond cruel.

Oh i know. I was talking from the perspective of the public who are going to be hearing about all this for the first time.
I wasn't diminishing what the babies have been through.
They apply to the courts to have their identity withheld from the public (their names are still announced in court, they just can't be reported or publicly named) and have to have a good reason. Then it's up to the judge to decide. I have heard of at least 1 nurse in this case that applied and was turned down, so I guess NN was able to put forward a good argument as to why he shouldn't be named.Hey - newbie here joining in the last throes here

Oh that’s interesting, I just assumed that you could say “please don’t name me” and they wouldn’t. I didn’t know you had to give a good reason for it! To be honest, in this trial, I’d say just not wanting your name to be publicly associated with LL would be a good enough reason!
I hope Lucy doesn’t become synonymous with murder - it’s the name we’ve chosen for this baby (I think mine is a boy though.)
Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Green gables writer) and Lucy from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe are two ‘good’ Lucy’s! But I’ve always liked it from one of the St Claire’s books. But in all honesty the timing might not be great as I’m due around the trial ending. Anyone got any name suggestions?

Lucy is a beautiful name so only change if it's going to be an issue for you or your partner. I really don't think it will affect your child as this case will be before their time and I just don't think Lucy is an unusual enough name.
